It has claw front feet and is in very good condition, however, it does have ... moresome light surface scratches and general wear that are typical of a piece that probably dates to the early 19th century, although I cannot be completly sure of its age. It has lovely carved accents and trim. The key is intact with it and the little side supports come out automatically when the front writing desk surface is lowered. Someone has unfortunately drilled a hole in the back that is about 2" in diameter. The desk has 4 drawers with all of the original knobs intact. It stands 41" tall at the trim at the back, 40" tall at the top, is 41" wide at the feet, 37" wide at the top, and is a total of 22" deep at the bottom, and 19" deep at the top.

It could be a child's desk. The very top of the desk is approximately 9 inches by 16 inches. The slanted portion is approximately 11 inches by 16 inches. The desk is approximately 17 inches deep. 16 inches wide.and 25 1/2 inches tall. From the bottom of the slant top to the floor is approximately 19 inches. It may be primitive or mission. 1800'S Antique slant top “schoolmasters” desk - primitive
This antique desk measures 24” x 32” Is 32 ½” high in front and 37 ½” in back. I was told it is English Pine but I am not an expert on that. It got it from Charles W. Eliot, III of the prominent Eliot family of Massachusetts, i.e. Charles William Eliot, President of Harvard, Samuel Atkins Eliot, Mayor of Boston, Charles Eliot(II) landscape architect of Boston's Public Park System. The desk had belonged to Charles W. Eliot III's grandmother and was referred to by his family as the"Schoolmaster‘s Desk" Charles is now 80 years old so I assume this desk is from the 1800's. As you can see in the photo there is a crack in the desk bottom.
