Antique cast iron and wood school desk by the New Peabody Co. great piece
this amazing iron and wood‘new peabody’ 1900s vintage school desk is an amazing design piece. it works so well as a chair with a readymade side table all-in-one. the inkwell hole is perfect to thread the lamp cord through and out of sight and the seat folds up to be out of the way when you don’t need it. the desk is in great shape with the only flaw is a crack in the iron on the back under the desktop. But it does not compromise the functionality of the piece. i also have an antique children's desk chair available if you would like to purchase this to go along with the desk. just ask! measurements: 23.5" wide 31" high 32" deep when the seat is open. because of the weight of the piece local pick up is recommended. Estate fresh. I am offering a wonderful Antique Cast Iron and Wood Desk made by"Sleeping Giant. It was once used in a one-room schoolhouse in a suburb of Chicago. The wood appears to be maple and the frame is stamped Silent Giant. This is available for local pick up only. I will cooperate with a shipper that you arrange if you'd prefer. Please understand that this desk is in original. Unrestored condition and is in very nice shape. Up for auction is a vintage antique wood and cast iron child's school desk. Has wooden sliding drawer. Very unique piece. Most of the school desks of this period are made to use the"table top" part from the desk in front of them. Unique and nice piece. In good condition. Table top surface has some slight wear to it. And has a couple small chipped areas on it. May just be how the wood was made. 28 inches long and 23 inches tall. Have had this for 20 years just sitting around. Ready to get rid of it. Description Up for your consideration are a pair of antique wood and cast iron desks with inkwells. Pencil trays and cubby holes, manufactured by the O&SF Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota sometime between the late 1800s/early 1900s. These solid built desks were meant to stand the test of time. The wood finish appears to be original and in good shape for its age. The cast iron base is ornate, but strong and heavy. The measurements for each desk are: desk height; 27"h, seat height; 14" and overall depth and width are: 29"d x 21"w. These desks make great conversation pieces.
