As I peruse the listings I see very similar desks all made in different places. In the days of these desks they must have been made more or less locally since there weren't highways and trucks to transport them around the country. This desk. As I presume the others as well, was patented, yet all the desks are pretty much the same. I don't understand that, maybe it was hard to enforce the patent laws back then. at any rate, this one was made by the S. S. Case Co. in Hartford. Connecticut prior to 1910. If you really want one of these desks and there isn't one local for you I am willing to ship this. It really is too large for me to find a box for it so it will have to go by freight. The desk weighs around 70lbs and I would strap it to a skid which weighs about 40 Lbs I would then stretch wrap it to keep it clean. I'm putting 130 in the freight calculator as the weight. But feel free to check other carriers on your own and I'll work with you. I've heard good things about Uship.com but you'll have to check them out for yourself. Antique School Desk and Chair Adjustable Metal Legs Wood Top Kenney & Wolkins
Charming antique school desk and chair. Made by Kenney Bros. and Wolkins of Boston. MA, this set has nuts in the supports to allow for each piece to have its height adjusted. The legs of the desk and pedestal of the chair are black painted metal and have holes for securing them to the floor. The desk top and seat of the chair look like they are made of maple. The inside of the desk has been painted a soft green color and there is a hole in the desk top for holding an inkwell. This desk dates from sometime between 1902(when Kenney Bros. and Wolkins merged) and 1930, which is when the company changed its name and discontinued furniture making. The desk and chair are both in very good condition. Although these pieces were obviously put to their intended use. There is some wear to the surfaces, including marks on the desk top and edge and a gouge ... morenear the top of the desk. See pictures. It also looks like an industrous student carved their initials in the side of the desk. There is also some hairline separation to the seat of the chair at the back. Unsure if the height adjustment is functional- it has been many years since it was used and may need some TLC. Otherwise no damage or repairs. The desk top is 24" long and 18" wide and at its pictured height the desk stands 29" tall. The chair is 16" wide and has a seat that is 13 1/4" deep. It stands 30" tall at its current height. I was going to do a fancy restoration on it, but I consistently get side-tracked. Perhaps you would like to undertake a restoration. All parts of this desk are in solid condition. It could use some paint. The Maple Plywood seat needs re-finishing, and a solid top to replace the Manufactured top would be nice. That project is for you or another. Description This is a lovely antique school desk. It has a wooden left top with metal sides and legs. It is 30"high. 23 1/2" wide and 16 1/2" deep. It has a hole for an ink well at the top, a recess to hold a pen, and an actual pen. When you lift the lid you will see that Alex Moore wasn't paying attention in class and decided to inscribe his name to the lid. Wonder if he got in trouble for that one? this amazing iron and wood‘new peabody’ 1900s vintage school desk is an amazing design piece. it works so well as a chair with a readymade side table all-in-one. the inkwell hole is perfect to thread the lamp cord through and out of sight and the seat folds up to be out of the way when you don’t need it. the desk is in great shape with the only flaw is a crack in the iron on the back under the desktop. Up for Auction is my Antique Child's School Desk. The frame is made of tubular steel and angle iron with curved out Maple wood seat and swivel upper lumbar support. Great Patina on this unit. This desk also has an additional under seat metal storage for books. The chair is 27 inches tall with the seat being 13 x 14inches. The side box measures 12 x 12 x 6.5 inches. No maker's mark. The Condition is Used. Someone went crazy scratching the pencil rest area on top of the desk. There is also some cream paint droplets. Not scuff or chips on the wood. To me it shows the age. Vtg Antique Bank School Gaming Courthouse Wood Desk Table Ink Wells Solid Oak
This is one really cool piece of history! There are ink wells and pencil cutouts for seven people/employees. It is straight on one side and curved on the other side. See the pics as to how I squared it up on a trailer to best show the curvature. It is 138" long by 88" on the curved side. I am not certain if this was used as a school desk. Banker's desk, gaming table, courtroom desk, or? If you have any thoughts of how it may have been used or where it was originally from please feel free to share your knowledge with me. Antique Century Automatic School Desk
Original Antique school desk that was made by Century Automatic which is on the side of desk. This desk is in very strong and solid condition. No breaks in cast iron metal. The top has its normal splits and little scratches that comes with a desk this old. Desk has a nice old patina to it, and beautiful cast iron scroll work. The seat moves up and down. This desk comes with ink well that reads: Jacobus pat. Nov.96, and Aug.11th 1903 top diameter measures 1 7/8" The desk measurements are 31 1/2" high and 23 1/2" wide and the depth from edge of seat to front of desk is 34 1/2" PICK UP only. Structurally very sound.An excellent restoration project with folding top. Front drawer and lower shelf. Even has the Numeral 2 on the front. The leather writing surface has a few tears in the corners. These never bothered us but you may want to replace it.
