The piece has a floral carved crest rail and scroll armrest fronts. Channel back corners connect the backrest to the arms. Reversible cushions with zippers make for easy cleaning. The seat rail is padded and upholstered as well with fluted trim. The legs are cabriole style. The fabric is tapestry style with a floral pattern. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is vintage and will not be perfect. This settee measures 35 3/8 inches tall. 54 ½ inches side to side and 36 inches front to back. It weighs 91 pounds. Antique Victorian Style Mauve Sofa with Ornate Carvings - needs restoration
Antique sofa being sold in"as is" condition. This mauve velvet sofa was purchased at an estate sale more than forty years ago by a late family member. She was told that it was empire style and that it from was the late 1880s. Over the years. This couch was well used and loved. It must be sold. As you can see, it is in need of some serious restoration. The couch no doubt will need to be recoverd. The arms have terrible fraying and you can see the material underneath the velvet. The wood. Which I am not sure if it is mahogany or walnut, needs to be re-stained and some areas of the wood may be fillers. In many areas, it has a"rough" feel. The cushions all have broken zippers and at one time the stuffing was replaced with some cheapy stuff. One of the legs were repaired at one time(see photo- a poor job) Also, the velvet on ... morethe cushions have fray marks as well as one the actual soft. The photos pretty much show all the work needed to get this sofa back in shape. The carving is very pretty and detailed. As you can see, the couch is framed around the back, arms and bottom as well as around the sides of the back. Measurements: 75 inches in length- 31 inches in depth- 37 inches in the back at its highest. I am unable to ship this item- I cannot imagine packing something like this. Victorian "Hunzinger" style sofa. Beautiful!
This is beautiful walnut sofa from about 1880. It is a full sofa(6' long) and seats 3 very well. It is the style of Hunzinger but is not marked. The finish is original however there have been some reinforcement done to the frame and arms. There are a few minor details missing but could be replaced or left as is. However. The work cannot be seen. A cross brace underneath has come undone but can be reattached with no effort. The original upholstry and padding(which was rotten and mouse eaten) was replaced with the current in the 1970's. It is serviceable but could stand a professional cleaning. The sofa itself was part of a set from an old estate in San Jose CA. and was sold to the current owner by the late Addie Walgren of Old Homestead Antiques in Morgan Hill, CA. about 1977. This Lady's sofa is in very fine condition. The mahogony or stained walnut wood has been maintained and the upholstery is in very good condition. The sofa is in the Duncan Phyfe(1770-1854)style who was one of the master craftsmen to first use paper labels but many of his paper labels did not last. Victorian Rococo Revival Sofa - Belter Style
A top quality high end early Victorian sofa from c1850-1870 with the highest probability from the 1850's. Strong Rococo Revival Lines such as heavy naturalist carvings and c curves throughout. It is made up of solid dark walnut and appears to have the original finish. The sofa has wonderful carved cabriol legs and a great carved motif on the front along with its original castor wheels.Regardless of the maker. Who ever made this was a fine cabinetmaker back in the day- not just some average cabinetmaker. Notice the depth of the carvings on the frame: What quality! The upholstery may actually be the original with green velvet filled with either horsehair or straw cushing. It is in real good shape considering its antique age with just a few blemishes as to be expected with antique fabrics. Miniature settee measures only approx 27" tall and 30" long and was intended for a small child(too large for dolls I think) The wood is a chippy shelac of some sort of light wood. This auction is for an antique Victorian style sofa and chair set. Not sure of the age or maker of this set as no tags are on either. My guess is that it is from the 1950's or 60's. I am selling a beautiful curvaceous vintage Victorian styled couch. It appears to be walnut or mahogany and shell carved. The dimensions are 80" long. 36" deep, and 37" tall at the highest point. The chair is in very fine condition with a few scuffs. The upholstery is intact. However the chair needs to be cleaned. For everyday use, the cushions(filled with feathers now) should be replaced with foam. I obtained this sofa from the daughter of the woman who bought it and I've had it for several years with. Ornate Victorian Rococco Belter Style Sofa with Pierced Back: Pickup in NJ only
Up for auction is this absolutely gorgeous Victorian Rococco sofa that measures approximately 80 inches long along the back. 59 inches long along the seat, 22 inches deep, 45 inches high to the top of the back pediment, and 16 inches high to the seat. It's highly carved, with three pierced pediments on the back. The apron is also highly carved. And there are French-style front legs, with wheels on them. The upholstery is in a gold, burgundy and teal floral pattern. It is highly textured. and has the feel of cut velvet. The upholstery is in absolutely mint condition, with no tears, no stains, and no wear. The two back side pediments are in excellent condition. The center pediment is missing one small piece of a c-scroll on the left side. As seen in one picture. There's some wear to the carvings on the wooden legs. No reserve. Most was manufactured in the 1980's-90's. Furniture and miniatures are scaled 1"1' which is a standard size for most doll houses. If I have a box for the item it will be shown in the photo. Boxes usually have wear on them. Smoke free environment. Most of my items have been stored in a dry attic for many years, they may smell a little old but not moldy. I have found that some time in the fresh air helps eliminated any odors. I do my best to carefully pack everything well. However much of this doll house furniture ... moreis old and the glue is brittle. Occasionally a piece may come apart during shipping. Doll house furniture is easily repaired with a little with glue. Here we have an exceptionally nice and extremely fancy. Vintage ~WICKER SETTEE~, We acquired this out of a wonderful Midwest estate. This beautiful wicker settee is amazingly fancy, and has a great look! This is by far the nicest example of a Vintage wicker settee that we have ever had the opportunity to offer for auction, or have seen for that matter. It is very well made and quite sturdy. The detail and intricate hand done work is really quite nice. It measures 54 inches wide"at the back" by 51 inches tall. It is 49 inches wide"to the outside of the arms" and the actually area where you would sit, is 40 inches wide by 19 inches deep. The entire settee measures 24 inches deep. We believe that this was made in the 1950's- 1960's era, as best as we could figure from the daughter of the Mother's estate, that ... moreoriginally owned this. There is a little expected damage from age and use, but all in all it was very well cared for. The seat has some wear and a little damage as well- see pictures. It The wrappings around the legs are loose and we see a few other little areas with damage here and there. It displays absolutely wonderful and can't imagine that you could easily find a nicer one. This would make a wonderful addition to a porch, pool area, or sunroom. It would also be fabulous as a photography studio chair. Antique Victorian Sofa - Camel-Back style
Beautiful antique mahogany Victorian sofa. With floral hand carvings, in the Camel-Back style This is a solid piece of furniture. Grab the sofa at the top of the end wings and place your other hand on the center of the sofa seat. Try to wiggle the piece. You can't. Its solid. I have been told that this is because the leg piece that goes down the sides from the arms to the legs is a single solid piece of wood. Many sofas you may see have a split at the middle between the arm and the leg. This joint is what weakens and causes the piece to become wobbly and unstable. I have not had this piece'officially' appraised. But I have had knowledgeable antiques cognoscenti[long time dealers and auctioneers] tell me that the side legs being all one piece indicates an age of the piece being approximately the 1890-1910 era. It has a nice old fashioned Victorian look to it but it was made in recent years by a furniture firm in the North Carolina. It has an old world look. Wood- elaborate carved legs- carvings around the entire table sides. Measurements: 51 inches in length- 18 inches in width- 30 inches in height. There is a shelf along the bottom. Around the table edges there is carving and braiding. Condition: needs some restoration. Please see the photos. There are scratches. And missing color. On the top are four metal round pieces on all four corners of the table. One of them as rust and paint.
