Both are lined with a natural colored cotton muslin. Each piece also includes matching ruffled trim/edging that has been hand sewn in place. Refinished Antique Oak Recycled Leather Fainting Couch Chaise Lounge Sofa - Nice
Restored antique Victorian style fainting couch with matte black recycled leather upholstery and matching pillow. Oak base with castors and a matte scale recycled leather covering that is plush. Durable and comfortable secured with round head tacks. Fantastic old look. This is a very old couch(not sure of the age- but you can see the styling) and I have much more money into the restoration than what I am asking for the couch. I just don't have the room and have never used it. It needs to go to a good home. MUST SELL! Measurements are approximately 79" L) X 30" H) X 30" W) This couch underwent a complete restoration a few years ago. The old upholstery was removed and redone- the wood frame was refinished and stained. Condition is very good overall with only minor imperfections in the leather(rub marks from moving around ... moreand some"catch" areas) and the oak has a few rub marks and cracks in the legs- but all consistent with age. No rips or tears and the upholstery is beautiful. All wood is original and was recently stained upon restoration. Castors were added. The original upholstery was in bad condition so I was able to save this piece by completely restoring it. Recycled leather is in perfect condition as this couch has not been used at all and stored in a nonsmoking environment. Wonderful antique furniture piece that is suited for everyday use. THIS COUCH HAS NEVER BEEN USED AND ALWAYS STORED INDOORS IN A NON-SMOKING ENVIRONMENT This is a pick up only item- located in Lena. IL 61048 about 2.5 hours northwest of Chicago in northwestern Illinois. It's pretty heavy and a solid wonderfully crafted piece that needs to be appreciated. It's just collecting dust in my house. Antique Pressed Wood Chaise Fainting Couch Settee
Very beautiful antique small sized fainting chaise. Great size for a child or to be used as an accent chair. 35" long. 18" wide 13" high(plus a few inches more for the attached cushion) There is no manufacturer's name on the item and I'm not sure what year it was manufactured. But by the looks of the wood and the type of construction. I would say it's probably late Victorian or early 20th century. Pressed wood. Spring seat, brocade fabric with banded edge. Original finish. The brocade material is in very good shape; no stains or tears. The gold trim is also in good shape and well-glued to the wood edge. The item has been repaired(looks professional) years ago. Needs to be reglued at location of repair at the top of the spindles(see 4th photo showing just spindle side of chair) The veneer has been chipped off in ... morea few spots but I didn't refinish them because for me it didn't detract from the overall piece. If you want chair to be usable without worrying about further damage. These repairs are recommended: reglue old wood patch in wood at top of spindles, strengthening chair leg where patched years ago, possibly restain or add wood putty to the chips in pressboard. If you just want to display the chair. It's fine as is! As this is an old item and you might want more details on the piece. Feel free to ask questions or request additional photos. This is a true Victorian gem! I have never seen anything like it. It is a fainting sofa/ chaise that opens and turns into a bed. The back has hinges and is meant to go down. The cushion opens up and folds out to reveal a hand made mattress, additional legs and even a hand made pillow. The mattress and pillow are made of straw and horse hair stuffing and are very heavy and amazingly in great shape. Unique antique settee/fainting couch
This is a beautiful and unique piece of furniture. It has a dark oak frame. With some simple carving on the feet. The couch itself was reupholstered about 12 years ago in high quality fabric and has seen minimal use. The unique thing about this settee is that both arms go down to provide a long chaise or bed. The back also lifts off. I have only seen one other like this in over thirty years of collecting. I must be honest and tell you that this settee is not particularly comfortable to sit on for any length of time, but it is lovely to look at. The photos do not reflect the deep colors of the fabric. I will try to take some better ones and send them if you are interested.

It has been newly upholstered. The springs are mostly in good shape except for one spot in the middle where they need to be tightened. Antique Naperville Khoeler Fainting Couch This is a beautiful Antique Fainting Couch. The body is Probably Quarter sawn golden Oak. That is in remarkably good condition for the age of the piece. There are some barely noticeable cracks. Which are shown. The Upholstery is not original. And needs to be redone. It should be really beautiful once done in a suitable fabric. I have included a photo of the undermesh. I did find a photo of an original piece and it appeared to have a dark brown leather upholstery. I have included a photo of the tag under the piece which states that it was ordered and sent to JK Paul. Pacific Grove Ca. It also bears writing in the upper left hand corner that says San Fran. and 7/25. I am not sure if this refers to a date when this was resold. Since the history of the Manufacturing company dates from 1898. When I purchased ... morethe piece it had a piece of paper with it with the history that it belonged to a family in the wealthy Knob Hill district in San Francisco. So it is possible that either Mr Paul lived there. Or it was later sold to a family in Knob Hill. I think I put this paper away for safekeeping and do not remember where I put it. I have researched the history of this piece. It was built by the Naperville Lounge company. Naperville Illinois. Manufacturer history: Peter Kroehler was born in 1872 the son of immigrant parents. In 1890. He attended the Commercial Academy of North-Western College(now North Central College) in Naperville, Illinois. His professor, James Nichols, and two other men founded the Naperville Lounge Factory in 1893 and hired Peter Kroehler as a clerk at $26 a month. Both the company and Kroehler were off to a good start and by 1896 he entered a partnership with Nichols, Fred Long and John Kraushar, the original investors. My Grandmother gave me this"fainting Couch" as she called it when I graduated from college and moved into my own first apartment. It came from my Great Grandmother's family farm in Woodland. NC. It was made there locally in the 1900's. I am the 3rd generation to use the couch. It is the original upholstery too. No one was allowed to change it so I have carried on the tradition draping an afghan or throw across the chaise. My Great Grandmother had casters put on the chaise when she brought it home to help when rearranging furniture in her home.

French LOUIS XV Meridienne Style Antique Sofa/Fainting Couch - Early 1900's
Uniquely Shaped Louis XV Style Meridienne Antique Sofa with Curved Headboard and Footboard; Curved Backrest. The sofa rests on 6 carved walnut legs with scrolled feet. They connect to the bottom frame of the sofa(also of walnut) which has a carved floral motif in the front center. With smaller floral rosette like carvings topping the 2 front feet. The frame has a minimal amount of carvings but has curvy/wavy woodwork, reminiscent of the Louis XV style. Between the side and rear legs the curvy/wavy carved wood design flourishes, and is accented beautifully by the double piping upholstery which runs perpendicular. The armrests are wider carved pieces of walnut that have a scroll like details at the point where the backrest frame meets the cascading arm piece. The backrest trim has a similar curved/wavy design with some floral/foliage style ... morecarvings near the frame seams. The backrest trim is highest at the left side(backrest) And slowly curves down to the scrolled right side(footrest) Also, the backrest and sides(headboard/footboard) have been restuffed giving a very plush look. The cushion is down filled, and also recently restuffed making a very comfortable seat. The sofa is upholstered in a yellow/gold shimmer silk-blend fabric; very soft to the touch.
