Antique German Salt Box with Wood Cover
Antique German Salt Box marked on the bottom Germany and a mark of a triangle within a triangle(sorry but my camera can't pick up a clear image of the mark) Top is hinged wood and there is hole in the top for hanging. Measures approx, 6" X 6" The porcelain has staining and needs a good cleaning but I leave that to the collector. Some minor chips but my camera can't pick them up. Antique Salt Box Porcelain Blue Windmills Gold Trim Wood Top German/Scandinavian
~ Antique Salt Box ~ This listing is for an antique porcelain salt box. The white box has a fancy raised design with angled front corners and a decorative cornice on the front edge. The front has a blue windmill and house scene. Gold details on the cornice and edges, and a word in gold that could be"Salt" or"Salz" the gold script is very old and faded, and I'm not sure what it says. The sides have smaller versions of the wind mill scene. The hinged top is shaped to match the shape of the box. The backing is also wood with a carved design. A hole in the backing was used for hanging it on the wall. NOTE: the backside of the wood backing doesn't look too good as apparently it wasn't taken down when the kitchen was painted. And there are a lot of paint drips on it. The inside of the box is stained and dirty. The ... morebacking is held on by 2 short nuts and bolts. And wood washers. NOTE: there is a hairline crack above the top bolt(see photo) A lot of the gold is worn and faded; some is totally gone. Some of it is still there and in good shape. Measures approximately 5-7/8" tall without the cornice; 6-3/4" to the top of the cornice; 4" front to back. And 4-3/4" side to side. The wooden backing is 11-3/4" tall. This auction is for a wonderful vintage pair of 3.5" tall Japanese wood kokeshi doll salt and pepper shakers from the early 1960's. The female shaker's beige kimono is decorated with beautiful pink flowers with red centers and green leaves. She's also wearing a colorful obi. And a red hat. The male shaker's handsome kimono is decorated with green pine trees, and he's wearing a black hat. Their"hats" unscrew to fill them, and the female has 7 holes/openings, while the male has 5 holes/openings. I don't think these shakers were ever used as shakers- they are in excellent condition- and were more likely used just for display. It's so rare to find them in such great condition. Lot of 5 Pair of Salt and Pepper shakers. First pair is wood blocks cut from a pine tree and hand crafted by F Plasman in 1960. they are in good condition. There is some writing on the bottom. Second pair is f 6 1/2" tall an have a wood grain like finish. They have plastic stoppers in the bottom and metal lids. Third pair were made in or around 1952. They were hand painted and varnished. the lids unscrew from the top. There is some writing on the bottom of these. They say made in Japan. Fourth pair is made of Ceramic They have a poem to Mother on them. They were made in Japan. Fifth pair is maid of Tin and have the words Minute Maid stamped on the top. Salt and Pepper, ANTIQUE, wood shakers, Salty and Peppy, 4"-Japan
This is an antique 4" wood salt and pepper set of Salty and Peppy. They are twist on top with no wood cracks. I have never taken the tops off or used them. There is* a paint wear on both shakers. Bottom says they are hand painted. Japan. The paint on the tops comes off easily if pressure is put on the top. Items come from a smoke free home. Don't see any repairs. Syroco Wood Chief, Squaw and Papoose Salt and Pepper Shakers
Syroco Wood Indian Chief. Squaw and Papoose Salt and Pepper Shakers in perfect condition, no chips or cracks. They are both approximately 3 1/4" tall and the subtle colors on them is quite nice. Detail is impeccable! Just a little bit of wear on the head of the squaw and the jug near her legs. While I didn't show a picture, they both have their original cork bottoms.
