this is a stunning very high quality antique HMH signed sterling silver and cut crystal rosary/ prayer beads. the crucifix is very dimension and has ornate detailing. With an INRI scroll at the top and are hand riveted to the cross. the oval pendant in the middle of the beads is double sided and also very detailed. One side has the Virgin Mary with a detailed border and signed at bottom"HMH sterling" the other side is a portrait of Jesus. the beads are cut from crystal and have lots of cuts in each bead. This is a very nice& complete old vintage Sterling silver Catamore signed Catholic rosary with faceted crystal prayer beads. It is long. Measuring 30 inches and has fantastic detail. The cross measures 2 inches tall and 1 inch across, the Virgin Mary medalion measures 13/16 inch tall by 1/2 inch across. The beads measure 7mm by 5mm and are all in great condition. The back of the cross is signed Catamore and marked Sterling. Overall and very nice and dramatic piece. Total weight: 25 grams. It so reminded me of the one my mom used to pray before Mass-with the beautiful faceted crystals that spray rays of color when reflected by the high church ceiling lights. I remember being mesmerized by it when I was a child. But enough nostalgia. This is a unique rosary in that the beads are not the typical round faceted beads-they are multi-faceted. And sort of triangular or pear-shaped measuring 8.89 mm at the top. AND.they are NOT just cut glass-they are rock crystal, a form of natural quartz, as tested on the Presidium gem tester. The round Mystery beads are double-capped in sterling filigree. The link chain is sterling silver. As are the crucifix ... moreand the centerpiece medallion. Both the cross and the medallion are marked sterling, and the cross also bears a maker's mark. The rosary is inscribed with the owner's name. And the date of 1950-possibly it was a gift some 64 years ago. The cross and the other emblem with Jesus pointing to his heart on one side and the Madonna and baby Jesus on the other side are marked"sterling. I believe the heavy metal chain also is sterling as it does not stick to a strong magnet. The rosary has all 59 beads and is 20" long. The cross is 2-1/4" long and 1-1/4" wide. The glass crystal beads really sparkle. There is great detail on the figure of Jesus on the cross and on the emblem. This rosary weighs 45.2 grams. It comes with a leather pouch. The cross measures 2 3/8" tall and 1 1/4" wide while the faceted beads measure 1/4" wide. Approx. weight is 66 grams. The rosary is in excellent condition. The rosary ends with an ornate and detailed Sterling Silver Crucifix.
