See attached Volume 1 Number 1 Publisher’s Letter. The magazine filled the void when The Map Collector periodical ceased publication in 1996. A ... morenote of interest that The Map Collector was preceded by the famous Map Collector’s Circle periodical founded by the late cartographic sage R.V. Tooley in 1963. Mercator’s World. As it was known, was the first so-called cartographic magazine geared to educate, enlighten and entertain a board audience of map enthusiasts. It was published in four-color, glossy, 80-page format and examined all aspects of cartography, geography, and exploration.
