Book: American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection Volume 2
This book is one of the 350 plus books. Exhibition and auction catalogs that I will be offering here over the next couple of weeks or however long it take to complete the task. All of these items are from my own personal collection which I have spent the last 40 years accumulating. You will find a great mix of antique related material covering a broad area. Early ceramics, early furniture, pre revolution Russia reference, Native American, guns, iron, Shaker are just a few of the eclectic areas covered. Most are working copies and should be viewed as such. Mint and autographed books will be noted in the next paragraph as well as any major defects. Some are relatively common while others are really quite rare but I will allow you to judge the value in this current market. Thanks and good luck. I must note that I am getting complaints from some ... morethat are missing the book they wanted. The purpose of"Buy it Now" is to give you the prospective buyer an opportunity to buy the item with out bidding. Currently we are selling at an average of 350 percent higher than ebays average sellers using the buy it now feature. I do apologize for not explaining this earlier. In no case will my buy it now price be more than to 50 to 75 percent lower than what I believe the current value to be(and yes I could be wrong, I will leave you to judge that) Israel Sack a premier dealer in fine and rare American Antiques. I do believe that he began in Boston and later relocated to New York. Three of his sons Donald, Harold and Albert Sack are also dealers and authors in fine American Antiques. If memory serves me right Albert a few short years ago, while attending a Sotheby's auction in New York paid a little over $8,000,000(thats right 8 million dollars) for a Boston tea table, with Brown family provenance. Later saying it is good to buy the very best! None the less, Israel, his father must have taught him very well. This is Volume 1 from"American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection- Masterpieces and Rareities. He sold

There were no shows, or any American furniture collections in museums. In the 1920's, Israel Sack moved to New York and started to amass first-rate furniture, and collectors who could afford it. Israel Sack was a brilliant marketer. He sponsored research[and] lectured widely. In the early part of this century, when American society was enamored of English antiques, he persuaded people to pay a premium for pieces made in America. You can tell American furniture by its accent, he liked to say. He argued that American furniture has its own qualities; instead of ornamentation and gilding, it has form, line, proportion, craftsmanship and rarity. He declared it an art form. From the 1920's until his death in 1959, Israel Sack sold to the top collectors of Americana: Henry Ford, Henry Francis duPont, Mabel and Francis Garvan, and Charles K.
