I tried to capture the writing in a picture, but could only get the first part of the name. The name stands out the most. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, marketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. This amazing French Louis XV Writing Table Desk was an estate find. It looks to be wood veneer with an intricate black leather inlay with gold guilt edging. The desk is lined with heavy brass embellishments along the edges and has ormolu mounts. The front has 3 locking drawers with the keys for each one and they work fine. The desk has faux drawers on the side and backside. So that it can be a centerpiece in the room. Inlaid trim surrounds each of the drawer fronts, and the classic brass toned pulls add to the look. The doors swing open to reveal an antiqued green interior with three generous shelves. This piece sits atop a ladies writing desk, with a lightly slanted lid that pulls back and rests on two pulls to form the writing surface. Inside, six pull out drawers and arched cubby holes provide generous storage. Underneath, the desk features three additional drawers, all with finished interiors and dovetail construction. VINTAGE 1950'S LEATHER-TOP WRITING DESK BY OLD COLONY FURNITURE#5651 This high-quality Writing Desk is made out of solid wood. Wood, and Veneer, and it has a light/medium stain finish color, see pictures. This beautiful Desk has a dove-tailed drawer on the front that is made out of solid wood on the inside, and it is working properly. This classic Desk has interesting Brass-finish handles on the drawer, see pictures, and it has Brass-finish accent handles on the sides. This wonderful Writing Desk has a gorgeous leather top. See pictures, and the sides of the top are removable covers for two hidden storage compartments. This Desk is finished all the way around& it can be displayed in the center of the room. See pictures, however the"drawer" on the back of the Desk is cosmetic-only and it does not open. The Desk has wheels/casters ... moreon the bottom of the legs, see pictures, and they are working properly. This Desk was produced by the Old Co lony Furniture company. The condition of this Desk is secure and sturdy with some minor scratches/dents here and there proper to its age and as part of its wear and tear. There some minor spots on the finish. And there are some aging imperfections on the top and on the sides of the Desk, see pictures. There are some minor professional touch-ups and aging imperfections on the top of the Desk and on the drawer. See pictures, and there are some minor aging imperfections on the leather top. The measurements are: height=29" width=48" depth=22" approx. Please remember that antique items will show some wear and imperfections they have acquired through the years. Vintage French Writing Desk Solid Wood Light Green French Wire Doors Leather Top. Such a lovely place to sit and write a letter! Lovely vintage ladie's writing desk. Petite in size and form. 34" length by 19" deep and 29.5" tall to writing surface plus another 11" shelf height for total height of 40.5" The height of the knee opening is 21.5" tall. Curvy legs and cut work on the trim. The desk features to shelving area with 2 side french wire cabinets and open center curvy cubby hole probably for tissue box or supplies. Nice small drawer on top area as well as 2 pencil drawers on the desk section. Pretty light green tan muted shade with lovely French hardware, curvy handles and lovely decoration. This auction is for a super nice Sligh Leather top desk. This desk is in super condition with no major cracks. Breaks, damage or repairs. This has the rare hard to find Green Leather top but the leather does have some cracking in it from age. This desk has 4 drawers on the left side and 3 on the right along with a center drawer. The center drawer is marked SLIGH furniture Bolland Michigan. All the drawer pulls are in tact and there is no issues with this desk at all. As with all Antiques and items of this age buyer should expect some minor wear scuffs and bruises. The dimensions of the desk are 48" wide, 24"deep and it is 30" tall. The kneehole opening is 21" wide. I do my best to describe any and all defects so please look at all my pictures and ask all questions before bidding. Antique French Leather Top Writing Desk with Brass Ormolu
Beautiful Antique French writing desk with brass ormolu and leather insert on top. This is a beautiful piece; it is not a period piece. So technically it is a reproduction, but I estimate the age to be from the1930's best I can tell. Measures 48 1/2 x 24 x 31 1/2. The brass also looks as though someone thought it was too shiny and put some stain on it to tone it down, giving it a very unique look. If seriously interested.
