A commanding 3Gal. Beehive Jug bearing an impressed. Cobalt-washed stamp that reads: A.O. WHITTEMORE, HAVANA, NY. This is the mark of Albert Whittemore, ... morewho operated a stoneware manufactory in Havana Village, just west of Ithaca 1863-1893; the area is now known as Montour Falls. Whittemore Beehives are quite scarce, and this one is very impressive. The brushed Cobalt Floral Is flanked by a pair of freehand"3's" The capacity is also impressed on the shoulder, just above the cobalt decoration. This is an early Whittemore Jug that dates to around 1870. The overall condition is excellent. There are some tight hairlines near the lower right side(see close-up) one travels about 3/4 into the base. There are also some typical imperfections created during manufacture(stack marks, glaze skips and drips, etc) The applied strap handle and spout are nearly flawless- there is one tiny nick on the inside rim. Please see photo set for complete details and further description. This is a fine, early example from Upstate NY that displays exceptionally in any Country or Primitive setting. Measures 10-3/4"W x 14"H overall and weighs roughly 12 lbs. This is a No Reserve Auction and a great opportunity to add to your Antique Stoneware collection. This Whittemore Beehive ships promptly to the highest bidder with full insurance and professional packing. Good Luck, and please be sure to visit my other Listings ending soon. Posted with

This pitcher is a natural clay color with a lightly speckled finish. The handle is twisted. And a print of the haberdasher fitting a customer is shown ... morein black. There was, in fact, an H. Dickson selling Hats and Caps in Albany NY in 1862 at 60 State Street. This pitcher is in pristine condition, with only some irregularities in the surface as an artifact of manufacture. All of the Chesterfield potteries closed by the 1980s, including Pearsons, which was the largest British pottery between the wars(early 20th century) This info still doesn't tell us if the pitcher is original advertising or reproduction, but it's fun! DESCRIPTION: Please view all the photos as they are an integral part of the description. This Fist jar stands 5-1/21 inches tall and is unquestionably a first mold piece. All molded details are exceedingly sharp. Clear, well defined, and highly pronounced. The blue encircling the top and bottom rims is dark and evenly applied. There are a few slight potter’s smudges done in the making. All in all, this is one of the finest Fist jars to ever hit the market! Absolutely beautiful! The mold on the lid is not as strong and the blue is a shade or two lighter but, still, it IS a lid and a nice one as well. Basketweave canisters are illustrated and described in detail on pages 193 through 197 of the 1997 Salt Glaze Stoneware book; a“Put Your Fist In” cookie jar is featured on page 195. Overall, Basketweave canisters are characterized as“Scarce” with the Fist cookie jar valued at $750. CONDITION: It could use a bath but I’ll leave that joy for the new owner. I do believe the jar is about factory mint. There is one really weensy greenish discolored area on the inside top rim. Not certain what’s going on but there it is. I can find no chi

Rare Ancient 10" Stoneware Jug Muromachi? 1400-1600 Ash Glaze Pottery Antique
Ancient Stoneware Jug/Pitcher A One Of A Kind Piece Have For The Collector In Your Life! This is a beautiful. Primitive jug! Imperfect in shape, with"sloppy" rough look to the bottom. Natural ash glaze at the inside of the mou th& on the shoulders. Running down the body& creating a unique design in e arthen shades. The rough stone p eaks out from under the glaze in several areas. Creating different textures. I believe this is from the glaze wearing or chipping off in places over the many years. There is no glaze on the inside of the jug beyond the inside lip. Which suggests to me that this piece was created before non toxic glazes were implemented. Unsigned. With no markings anywhere on the pi ece. Extremely thick& heavy. Approximately 10" tall. 5 1/2" across at widest point. In very well kept condition. There ... moreis a small chip to one side of the mouthpiece. As pictured. It in no way takes away from the beauty or rarity of this piece. This is an extremely old& rare piece! I've been told that it's possibly from the Muromachi period. Which would date it between 1392–1573. I t has not been confirmed though. So I do not guarantee that it is Muromachi. However. This is definitely a primitive ancient piece. As is evident by the texture of the pitcher. Glazing, mino r imperfections in the shape& glaze. It is simply beautifu l! Please Contact Me About International Shipping Rates. If Interested. Please feel free to email me with any questions you have before bidding. Payment is expected within 3 days. Items are shipped within 3 days of receiving payment. Mustard Yellow Ware Pitcher Kitchen Stoneware Vintage Pottery Primitive Antique
Great Primitive Yellow Ware Pitcher I have had this pitcher for a very long time. Its time to let it go. The pitcher if very heavy and a bright shade of mustard yellow. I think the third picture shows the true color of the pitcher the best. No cracks or chips. There is crazing throughout the pitcher and glaze lines. The handle looks applied and the base is ribbed. It appears very primitive due the crudeness of the pottery. Meaning there are a lot of pottery lines and unevenness. There are rough lines inside the pitcher. These are not cracks but from the pottery making process. A really pretty pitcher. Measures: 8 1/2" tall Base is 4 1/4" Width is about 8" including handle and 6" without the handle. Weight of pitcher: 3 lbs 5oz No identifying marks. If you thump the pitcher with your finger the ring is a thud meaning it ... morewas most likely made in the US.
ANTIQUE 1800'S WHITES OF UTICA STONEWARE PROSIT JUG / PITCHER NY POTTERY -RELIEF
Up for your consideration is a very early unique stoneware beer jug/ pitcher from the late 1800's classified as WHITES OF UTICA NY POTTERY PROSIT. Piece is extremely well made weighing 4 1/2 LBS and measuring 11 Inches X 8 1/2 Inches. Pitcher is very ornate with many different decorative standards and reliefs. It is very unusual to find such High Relief Molding on Whites Stoneware which makes this a highly decorative piece. Also of note is the very unusual serpent or snake handle. Each side depicts men of nobility from the time period of creation(1800's) Above each human relief lies a cobalt blue dog head on each side. These heads used to house a wire handle(which is missing) The spout is molded in the relief of a bulldog. The bottom is marked with the letter"C" or"E" or"3" The name Prosit refers to a ... moreGerman idiom that means"To your good health" or"A toast to you! This is an extremely good example of early American Pottery and are becoming harder and harder to find! A great investment piece as well as eye grabbing decorative display! Any questions please ask!

Monumental Whites Pottery of Utica Stoneware George Washington Pitcher
This thing is massive. the pitcher is sitting next to a full sized iPad to get the idea of size. There are no chips or cracks. Excelt of the base. Someone has sealed it in some manner, and the yellow stuff comes off, but I will leave the cleanup to the new owner. This pieces is 11 inches tall and quite weighty. The handle is secure, but there is a nearby firing crack-again, this is a firing issue, not damage. The design is amazing, the intricate designs around the portraits, the word Prosit by the spout, the oak leaf under the handle and the spout, the dog heads to hold a wire handle(I do not have it) and the mark 3 on the base- which is for the size. This is impressive ASK QUESTIONS. PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY-There is a lot of data in there. Antique Black Stoneware Pitcher Primitive Pottery Big Utility Ware 1800s Ceramic
Old Pitcher I found myself so drawn to the beautiful simplicity of of this old pitcher. I just had to get it. This lovely pitcher has a black glaze, which is quite hard to come by. Along the recessed rings, the glaze has a rusty brown appearance. The condition is quite nice considering its age and functional purpose. There are some areas along the rim that have slight flaking that blend in well since they have darkened substantially over time. This has a nice solid feel and weighs in right at five pounds. The handle is well crafted. Oh, the stories this old pitcher could tell. This displays beautifully on its own or would be great for use with floral arrangements.
