Brown, black, with undertones of reddish umber: Mottled Haresfur, Crackle and Lava Glazes HISTORY: I have had this a very long time- at least 20 years or so! A very warm and happy ceramic piece of West German origin. It will be a welcome addition to your eclectic retro home. Pleasing ewer, pitcher, handled jug type configuration and attractive designs, glaze textures. The colors are very nice and earthy- a wonderful semi matte rich mossy green mottled haresfur with umber red-brown undertones, PLUS a rich brownish black LAVA glaze borders. and gray-white-green crackle glaze swirls which are reminiscent of the ocean waves. No damage, chips, cracks etc that I can discern. You WILL note that there are areas of glaze drop-out present- this is caused during the furing process when an air bubble is trapped and releases while the glaze is firing- the result is an imperfection which gives character and individuality to the piece. Antique English Pearlware Ceramic enamel decorated pottery milk jug, c1800-1820
Antique English Pearlware Ceramic Polychrome overglaze enamel decorated pottery milk jug with an Oriental lady walking in a garden. On one side, and foliate design on the other. The decoration is in vibrant pink, green, blue and iron red. The pitcher has a sparrow spout and a simple looped handle both are enamel decorated, the handle with an iron red foliate design. The foot is rimmed in blue. c1800-1820. There are no factory or maker's marks but this milk jug is most likely from the Leeds Pottery. CONDITION: Minor glaze wear. No restoration. Measurements: 5 1/2" tall and 5" wide. A little background on Pearlware Josiah Wedgwood has traditionally been given the credit for"creating" what he referred to as"pearl ware. This ware was essentially the same ceramic composition as creamware with the added component of ... morea small quantiry of cobalt. The addition of the cobalt. Gave the pottery a bluish cast to the glaze. Pearlware was used as the base for Prattware, Spatter and Spongeware, Luster, and many transfer-printed wares. Because in some cases, the quantity of cobalt is truly slight, it can be difficult to determine whether or not the piece is pearlware. If you are ever faced with this situation, just turn the piece over and look for the blue pooling; identifiying the cobalt blue glaze over the whitish body is regarded as the single most important diagnostic feature. Antique Semi-Vitreous Buffalo Pottery Ceramic Pitcher 1909 Vintage
This antique ceramic pitcher is blue and white in color and features a painted decorative design that is Asian themed. It measures 4.5 inches high by 6 inches wide with the handle. It says Semi-Vitreous Buffalo Pottery 1909 on the bottom. This piece is in very nice condition for it's age. There are two small chips on the inside lip of the pitcher. There is also a hairline crack there as well. There is some wearing of the finish on the handle and the inside appears stained. But this has been washed and the finish seems to be intact. You can see this in the pictures.

There are two tiny holes on the backside of the rim as sometimes these early pitchers could be used with a pewter lid.

Founded in 1926. Daison Art Pottery was among many potteries that cropped up in Torquay during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although best known for their bird and flower-adorned ceramics, Daison also dabbed in the stylings of the innovative and extremely influential 19th century designer, Dr. Christopher Dresser. In recent times. Dr. Dresser has been credited as both a founding father of the Aesthetic Movement and catalyst of the Anglo-Japanese design craze that captivated both Europe and North America in the late 1800's, though his influences spanned far beyond Asia. In his 1873 design manifesto, Principles of Victorian Design. Dresser dedicated most of his discussion of historic pottery to Egyptian and Greek designs, an influence evident in many of the pieces produced during Dresser's 3 year term as the Art Superintendent ... moreof Linthorpe Art Pottery(1879- 1882) and works by other potteries attempting to replicate Dresser's Linthorpe designs. The pitcher for sale here bears a striking resemblance to two of Dresser's Linthorpe Pottery pitchers, one in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art(Accession# 1988.423.3) and one at the Chicago Institute of Art(Accession# 1987.214) Both pieces were obviously inspired by the historic shapes of Cyclaid beak-spouted pitchers, a shape masterfully emulated by one of Daison's potters. Clearly well-versed in Dresser's Linthorpe designs, the Daison potter also incorporated an Early Minoan Vasiliki Ware-like mottled, glazed finish, also used by Linthorpe Pottery on several of Dresser's pieces. In addition to the maker's mark, the numbers 3 297 are pressed into the base. Which we take to be the vase model and/or date code. The vase measures measuring 10 1/4" tall. By 5" in diameter at the middle, by 2 1/2" in diameter at the base. The vase shows no obvious signs of chips. Cracks or crazing. Overall. We rate the condition as good. Vintage Antique Pitcher Wash Basin Pottery Ceramic Small Unmarked
Being auctioned is an adorable pitcher and washbasin set. The colors are ivory/cream and the hand painting is done in brown. There is no makers marks to identify the piece. There is no cracks. No chips, and no fading on the pitcher. The only thing I see on the pitcher is small little pin holes where air bubbles developed while going through glazing. The basin is in good used shape the is small chips on the side rim and two chips underneath. Please look at the pictures it will show you where the chips are. Not noticeable with the pitcher sitting inside. Measurements: Pitcher 5 1/4" tall and 6" wide including handle. Basin 1" tall and 7 1/2" wide. Pitcher standing in basin is 5 1/2" tall. Red Wing Northstar Pottery ceramic pitcher grapes weave brown out white interior
Classic. Antique salt glaze pitcher with handle has a white interior and a brown exterior with grape clusters on a basket weave. This piece stands about 9 1/4 inches tall on a base that's 5 1/4 inches across. It measures 5 3/4 inches from the spout to the back of the rim. There is a star maker mark on the bottom. Old pitcher has bubbles and defects in the glaze. Crazing, what appears to be a jagged crease under the interior glaze behind the handle, wear to the footing, some holes in the glaze, and general wear,surface scratches and signs of age, as you'd expect. Antique Copper Luster Pitcher This is a medium sized copper luster pitcher. Mid 1800's and decorated with blue overlaid on the copper luster finish. There is a face on the side design. The main design is two children playing or sitting at a campfire with additional palm fronds and a scrolling handle. There is a rough copper spot on one side, see in photo, maybe a burn area in the original glazing? No other problems, no chips, cracks or repairs.

You can see windmill in the background. Pitcher measures 7" tall. It is in very nice shape, clean for its age. It has crazing, some wear. It has a thin hairline which can be seen in my photo but pitcher is very sturdy. Some tiny flea bite chips. Handle good and sturdy.

LARGE Antique Vintage Green Ceramic Pottery Pitcher Vase Jug Straw Covering
This is a MASSIVE unmarked ceramic/pottery piece in the shape of a pitcher. It is painted with a green glaze. The body of the jug and the bottom is wrapped in thin sheaves of straw that are also painted green. And there is wear to the gree paint on the straw. There is crazing to the ceramic, but no chips or cracks. There is a straw braid around the handle and top part of the pitcher. it is a wonderful decorative piece, and likely has a good deal of age to it, but I am not able to place its origin. Antique Black Stoneware Pitcher Primitive Pottery Big Utility Ware 1800s Ceramic
Old Pitcher I found myself so drawn to the beautiful simplicity of of this old pitcher. I just had to get it. This lovely pitcher has a black glaze, which is quite hard to come by. Along the recessed rings, the glaze has a rusty brown appearance. The condition is quite nice considering its age and functional purpose. There are some areas along the rim that have slight flaking that blend in well since they have darkened substantially over time. This has a nice solid feel and weighs in right at five pounds. The handle is well crafted. Oh, the stories this old pitcher could tell. This displays beautifully on its own or would be great for use with floral arrangements. The handle is cold painted brown on the inside and there is paint loss on the inside. The outside of the spout is also cold-painted brown(not the flowers) On the back of the jug there is some color bleeding of the black printing under the glaze. It measures 15.87 x 23.49 x 16.51 cm(6 1/4 x 9 1/4 x 6 1/2 in.
