This pitcher is in good antique condition, with some rubbing to the gold, some minor scuffs, and general wear from age and storage. I am uncertain of the exact age of this pitcher. However I believe it to be circa the late 1800's or early 1900's. This is a beautiful antique pitcher. circa 1840 -- Staffordshire Pottery -- blue transferware -- pitcher
This piece is just back from the Antiques Roadshow! Richmond. Virginia(August 17, 2013) was the final city on Season 18's"hunt for America's hidden treasures! The pitcher is approximately 8 9/16" tall. 10 7/16" wide(from pour spout to handle arc) and 7 ¼" deep(width of base bulge from front to back) It weighs approximately 36 ounces(or 2 pounds and 4 ounces) and is in very good condition. There is 1 flake/absence of color(¼" long) on the bulge of the pitcher when the handle is turned to the right. There are 4 chips on the handle visible when it is turned to the left: 2 are under glaze so are manufacturing flaws: 1/8" and 3/16" in sizes) and 2 are damage(3/8" and 3/16" in sizes) Please note there is crazing present. For those less familiar, crazing is a network of fine lines or ... morecracks that can develop on a fired glazed surface. It happens when a glaze is under tension. A craze pattern can develop immediately after removal from the kiln or years later from storage of an item in an extremely cold environment like an"ice box" early refrigerators) As a result of the crazing, there are some stains on the interior bottom and sides of the pitcher. What happens over time is the fat, like that found in milk, can work its way into the fine cracks. Eventually it will discolor/turn dark. For those interested. Discolorations can be removed by soaking a piece in a 40% hydrogen peroxide solution as found at beauty supply stores(used to help create those lovely blond highlights we love! The instructions to do this can be found at WorthPoint. The specific article is entitled"How to Remove Stains from your Antique China. Pottery and Porcelain. I chose not to do this with this particular piece because the bottom is not visible when displayed in my hutch. Unfortunately. This was not the"missing ceramic pitcher marked with a'C' that was worth a gazillion dollars to be showcased on the Antiques Roadshow! However. The professional Pottery and Porc

Creigiau Pottery Jug Copper Lustreware Blue Interior - Cardiff Wales c.1948-1979
~ Description ~ Creigiau Pottery Jug- Copper Lustreware with Blue Interior- Cardiff Wales c. 1948-1979 This is a wonderful piece of Welsh earthenware from Creigiau Pottery. The copper lusterware finish is smooth and free of scratches or wear. The interior is a lovely blue glaze. It measures 3 ½” high and is marked“Creigian Wales” on the bottom. Unlike many copper lusterware pieces of this age. It is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, or damage of any kind. 325.2] History of Creigiau Pottery Reg and Jean Southcliffe set up the Southcliffe Ceramic Company in Creigiau near Cardiff in Wales in 1947. A year later they changed the name to Creigiau Pottery. They produced domestic table and decorative wares in earthenware with incised decoration and a greyish glaze partially covering the brown body and throwing the design into relief. ... moreThey also made traditional Welsh lustreware. In 1962. While still operating Creigiau Pottery, Reg took over the running of the Claypits Pottery at Ewenny after Tom Jenkins retired, and re-named it Vale Pottery. Subsequently Vale Pottery was taken by new owners and again re-named Helyg Pottery. Reg died in 1981 and Jean continued for two years before retiring. Their mark was sometimes incised. Sometimes impressed and sometimes printed.

VINTAGE ANTIQUE POTTERY PITCHER COBALT BLUE WITH PINK FLOWERS
This is a really old pottery pitcher. It is cobalt blue with a raised floral design of pink flowers and green leaves. It does have two repairs(the white spots) which you can see in the pictures. One is near the spout and the other is on the side at the top. I have never seen a repair like this and it is done very well. The repair just needs some paint in matching colors. The pitcher does have a lot of crazing. The pitcher is 7-1/4" high and is 7-1/2 from end of spout to end of wide handle. The bottom is marked with a colbalt blue paint mark which I cannot decipher and there is also a raised rectangular spot that has faint writing that I can't make out. I would think there is some value in this pitcher to go to all the trouble to do the repairs that someone has meticulously done.

1905 Larkin Buffalo Pottery Antique Semi Vitreous Cobalt blue Geranium Milk Jug
Welcome to my ebay store! From my antiques collection I am offering this gorgeous Semi-Vitreous Cobalt Blue milk pitcher in the Geranium pattern made by the Buffalo Pottery Company of the US in circa 1900. The pattern is Geraniums. This pitcher came from a Pennsylvania home. Condition Report: Excellent. Notes: The pitcher is 7 1/2" from handle to spout. 6" wide and 6" tall. What a beautiful piece for a flow blue/ floral or just cobalt blue collection or blue color scheme. One actual factory type flaw on side, see all pics, it is actually a bit of ceramic on surface. I am not messing with that in any way! Buffalo Pottery was named for it's city of origin. Buffalo, New York. It was established in 1901 by the Larkin Soap Company. The pottery was originally conceived to produce a marketing line for Larkin that would increase ... moretheir soap sales, in addition to other items including furniture. The Buffalo Pottery prospered and produced many different kinds of pottery for commercial use as well as art pottery. This beautiful chintz transfer was named the"Geranium" pattern and could be purchased with soap wrappers and a small additional charge from the Larkin Soap Catalog from 1905 to 1910. The all-over cobalt blue and white decorations on this jug/pitcher consists of geraniums and their leaves. The piece was also made with multicolor decoration. Marked on the bottom is"Semi-Vitreous- Buffalo Pottery- warranted underglaze" and the geranium leaf design. I also own a larkin ladies desk that I purchased in NY in the early 1980's that was purchased originally the same way-the lady traded in her soap labels and purchased the beautiful oak desk that sits in my guest bedroom today. I also own a set of 6 Larkin pressed back cane oak dining chairs that no doubt were purchased with the Larkin soap labels! Interested buyers for the set of 6 larkin dining chairs can contact me. But they will be only for local pickup in Colorado) Some more info from Kovels: Buffalo Pottery was made in Buffalo.

Antique 1896 VODREY POTTERY Lg Water Pitcher & Wash Bowl Basin Bonita blue white
I have looked up the marks on these pieces of Vodrey and the marks date c1896(Kovels) Bonita is the name the pottery gave it or was the pottery herself. Not sure. The pitcher in the bowl is approx. 13” tall, bowl is 5” tall and the width of the bowl is approx. 16 ½” across. The weight on both bowl and pitcher is 12# reason for the shipping cost. The blue is very nice color and the bowl also has a doe color washed around the edge inside and out. I thought this was stain but nothing would remove the color, must be in the making of the set. Too, the pitcher has two runs that is in the making, as shown in the pictures. There are stress cracks but not broken through. Was so pleased to find no real major damage for pottery this old such as chips or repairs. This set has been packed for a long time and from an estate. It was well packed.
