Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

Pretty little Made in Japan Pearlized finish pitcher with gilded handle, nice
This lovely little pearlized finish signed"Made in Japan" vase. Has a gilded handle and finely painted on the exterior. Great for decorating as itself, or with finely cut flowers in. Has one teeny chip-crack(1/16" on bottom. Not visible unless you pick it up, turn over, and look closely. A very nice vintage piece. stands about 5 1/2" tall.

A nice vintage pitcher with a colorful floral pattern that was made in Germany.The pitcher is in very good condition there are no chips. Cracks or crazing. The golt trim that was on the rim is mostly worn off. The floral pattern is clear and sharp no apparent wear.Smaller florap pattern on back shows no wear.The pitcher is marked Germany on the base in gold. Large Unique Decorated Stoneware Pitcher~Very Nice Vintage Estate Sale Find
Up for your consideration is a very large. Beautiful& unique stoneware pitcher from an estate sale. When we rescued this beauty from the previous owner, it was very dirty& discolored. After removing the layers of aged residue, I uncovered this beautiful piece of art! I didn't even see the gold trim& borders when I purchased it. I believe it is painted to appear crazed. Because the handle is in excellent condition with not crazing. The base color is a pale gray, the designs are a pale pink and shades of blue that look more like lavender. Gold trim on both the top& bottom, with a beautiful gold handle. The base was not glazed where it sat in the kiln. The bottom has a painted circle in gold with either 16 or 91 inside the circle. It looks like 16 to me. This is honestly an awesome piece! We have no idea how old it is or ... morewhere it originated from. It measures approx. 10 1/4" tall X 5 3/4" base X 8" from handle to spout. The pitcher measures 7 7/8" high from the base to the top of the handle and is 8 1/2" wide from the edge of handle to the tip of the spout. There are no chips, cracks, breaks, scratches, or wear marks of any kind. The bottom is marked"Victoria Ware, Ironstone" and the logo is quite blurry. What a pretty piece this is. The cups or mugs vary a little and measure approximately 3½" high x 2½ wide(top) 2" wide(bottom) I believe this is called yellow ware pottery, and all pieces are in nice condition given age. There is slight crazing which in my opinion gives this set loads of character! One glass has a sliver chip, I was going to throw it away and decided to add it in case anyone wanted to fix it. on a good note the chip is out of the backside of the tumbler and doesn't show when displayed. The piece is solidly decorated in copper, including the top of the interior. Inside are crazing marks in the bottom, indicating its age. The pitchers has one old chips at the spout. Vintage Antique Old pitcher unusual triangular form nice decroation
antique vintage old pitcher This is a nice looking old little pitcher. But it has some serious condition issues, There are cracks and chips and some look deep but it is still so different that it would make a nice display piece but certainly is not a usable pitcher. The surface has a texture to is. And the raised design of a sunflower on one side, a fan on the other and has an oriental feel. Stands about 4.65 inches tall and about 4 inches at the wide on each of the four sides there is no hallmark on the base and the interior glaze is kind of flaking My mother passed away last year at the age of 95. She had a storage unit she filled with family pieces in the 70's and this is one of them. I never saw it as a child that I can recall and I think I would have remembered it. This is one of the nicest ironstone pitchers that I have sold over the years. Made by John Edwards of Longton. England who worked between 1847 and 1853. It measures 11" x 8" x 9" I do not know the pattern name, but it has fan-like folds and leaves around the spout and handle. Almost a gourd-like appearance to the shape. It is in very good condition with only some scratches here and there, not many and nothing major. In addition to the printed mark there is an impressed mark which I cannot read. Old Sleepy Eye Pitcher With your winning bid you will receive this very nice piece. Measurements are approximately 9" across spout to handle x just under 8" tall to the lip and about 8 3/4" tall to the tip of the spout. 88 ounces when filled to the rim. There is some mild crazing consistent with age and a very glaze flake at it's bottom. Otherwise I can find no damage. Please see the photos, everything is shown, they describe things best. I believe this is the real deal, you don't find them very often, especially this nice.
