Hi.This is a beautiful hand painted pitcher made in Austria.It has a wonderful floral design on the front& back with gold paint throughout and on the handle.The colors are just beautiful.It is all maked on the bottom with the Made In Austria,The International Pottery mark and 2 different numbers.We got this at an estate sale many years ago in the south on vacation. Antique/Vintage Pink Floral Hand Painted Lrg Pitcher Unmarked Porcelain Pottery
This auction is for an antique hand painted floral pink& white pitcher. The pitcher is very old. Most likely from between 1900-1940, but possibly earlier. The piece is unmarked. There is visible damage due to its very old age but the pitcher is still so pretty it is still worth displaying as it is. There is severe crazing and cracks throughout. There is a large crack on the front that starts at the rim and goes down and stops at the floral area. There is also a chip on the tip of the pitcher spout. You can see all of these areas in the pictures. The pitcher is still very well in tact and does not run the risk of cracking any more as long as it is taken care of. It is made of a very thick, durable and firm porcelain glass- that is why it has lasted all these years in spite of the rough handling it has taken. It measures 6-1/4" from handle to spout and stands 4-1/4" tall. It is in good condition for it's age. But not without character. There are no chips, I did find a very very light tight hairline under the spout approximately 1/4" away from the seam. There is obvious age discoloration especially on the handle, which make sense, it would have been touched there more than any other surface. It does have some light crazing as well. Hand Painted and Glazed White and Black Ceramic Floral Pitcher a Main Kitchen Find. ~!~ It has now been nearly thirteen years ago since we were called to do the estate that had been closed up for seventeen years! The Voodoo Estate! This type of call usually gets us excited as they are a treasure trove. Located here in Florida. There was no electricity or running water so we rigged our own lighting and in we went. If you have ever seen the Adams Family you will have some idea as to what we were greeted with! Then the attorney handling the liquidation gave us some background. The estate had belonged to an alleged powerful Voodoo Priestess/JooJoo Exorcist. Grand daughter of a Marie Laveau, and favored daughter of a Marie Glapion. This did not have much impact on us other than to cause an ... moreuneasy feeling when in the mansion so we declined to spend the night while inventorying. Deciding to stay in a hotel to return in the morning. Our research has shown that this woman was what she claimed and was indeed descended from a long line of well known Vodoun family originating in New Orleans in the early 1800's. We were pretty unnerved by this until we discovered they were also devout Catholics! Although I have to admit this was unlike any Catholic home we have ever been in and some of the items found inside were a little more than disturbing. There was no feeling of dread or unwelcome in the mansion. However there was quite a bit of contraband and other items we can or will not sell here. This is one of a few pieces from this estate we will be listing this week. So check our other listings! We will.
