Antique Chalk? Picture of a Baby Girl On Board In Wooden Gesso Fame 22X18
Antique chalk? potrait of a little girl. It looks to be on some type of board.It also has a board backing. Take note of the metal clasps that hold the back covering on. I have never seen this shape so I am assuming very old. The frame is all wood. Take note of the small nails on the corners. The outer rim of frame is smooth but the inner frame is knob textured with gesso decor with a gold/brown color. Also has a glass cover. I love this picture! I purchased this at an estate auction. The bottom outside corner does have a chip of wood off but repairable. Size is 21 1/2" high by 17 1/2" wide.

Here is a Gorgeous Antique Gesso Wooden Picture Frame that we just purchased from a Local EVENTS Estate. It measures approx. 27 inches tall by approx. 19 inches wide across the front. The inner measurements where the picture fits are approx. 19 1/2 inches tall by approx. 11 1/2 inches wide. The lady reminds me of an Old School Teacher. She is kinda Spooky. The picture has a tinted color affect to it. The frame is made of wood and has the Gesso finish on it. It is almost a deep burgundy color and has a holly leaf and berry design. There are a few places where the gesso has chipped off. And there are a few light scratches and places of paint wear. Overall this is a Really Old piece that is in Excellent Condition!

Vintage Wooden Round Picture Frame, 3" Wide Wood Edge, Gesso, 9" Opening, Rustic
This auction is for a Vintage. Shabby, Wood& Gesso(I believe this is the correct material) Round Picture Frame. This frame is in Fair to Good Vintage Condition. There are areas of cracked and/or missing gesso. There are two chips in the wood in the bead decoration near the glass. The paint on the outer ring of decoration is somewhat haphazardly done. I believe there used to be a wooden back that is no longer there. The backing is now a thicker cardboard material that is held in place with three small nails or tacks. This frame does show wear. But also has some pretty flower decorations along the outer edge and a nice bead decoration along the inner edge. Antique Wooden Hand-Carved Gesso Frame w/ Black Americana Photo - Pine Bluff, AR
I absolutely fell in love with this frame when I saw it and was just as intrigued with the photograph in it. I bought it in Pine Bluff. AR. The seller said another customer told her this man came from a very prominent and wealthy family in Pine Bluff back in the day. Unfortunately, the seller did not know or remember the name of the family. It definitely appears to be from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. When I got this home. I was hoping to find out more information by carefully removing the backing. I’ve found dates and/or names on the backs of photos before. No such luck this time. There is some very faint writing– but the only thing I can make out is there’s a photo# it says it’s a photo, and its size is 10” x 12” No names, no dates. The photo has faded. Has some dark spots on it and possibly a watermark or two. Please see my pictures ... morefor more details and close-ups. The frame is gorgeous and is unlike any other I’ve seen. The cut-out holes are so unusual and appear to be hand-carved as they don’t look perfectly symmetrical to me. There is some damage to the gesso– with the worst of it clearly being at the very bottom. It appears it was stored on the floor for some time and may have even sustained some water damage. The bottom right corner is the worst and has a little bit of roughness to the edge of the wood proper. There’s also a small“slice” in the wood at the very top of the frame(towards the front) just to the left of the hanger rope/tie. There’s also a small split on the backside of it. The glass is wavy and therefore appears to be original. I’m assuming the green paint is original. Too, based on how it looks from the back(bleed-over) The green and gold colors are beautiful, but please keep in mind I have not tried to clean it(for fear of damaging the gesso further) I’m sure with the proper cleaning, the colors would be even more eye-catching. I did clean the mirror the best I could only because it was so dirty– it was difficult to get a good look at the photo. The frame itself measures

This antique gold leaf gesso small picture frame is antique. 19th century. It is nailed together with tiny nails. The picture frame measures 5" long x 3 1/4" wide x 3/4" thick. The sight or inside dimensions measure 3 7/8" long x 2 1/8" wide. It has a 3/8" depth(rabbet) The picture frame is in good condition overall. With no loose joints. There are a few very small chips, as shown in the pictures, but nothing major. The gold leaf has a nice patina, showing its age with good honest wear. The backboard and hanger are original. Also, the glass and the brads used to hold the backboard, appear to be original. It is a good looking frame, ready to display a small picture, or possibly even a small mirror. Thank you for looking.
