Online research of other identical ... moreframes suggests that it originally contained a mirror. At some point the mirror was removed and replaced with glass in order to use it as a picture frame. The glass is clearly not original as the closeups of the back will attest. There is some evidence that the gilt border was touched up. Some random distress marks and small white specks can be seen in the closeups. The center of the arch has a couple of very fine cosmetic hairline cracks. There is no back panel.

We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique, French Victorian picture frame. This incredible frame features solid giltwood construction with an abundance of gesso, Neoclassical patterns. The frame is squared with flared ends. It features a large, round center opening for a picture or mirror. The patterning consists of ornate scrolling and acanthus leaf accents at each corner. There is a beautiful lined, incised design as well as a raised floral border around the center opening. The frame is in very good, antique condition with only minor signs of age/wear. There is very little wear to the gilted finish. There is one minor, hairline crack to one area. It is surface only and does not affect the frame. It is barely noticeable and is not distracting. Beautiful layered antique picture frame with faux-marble effect! This was made with 3 separate layers and has a wonderful deep quality that will showcase any photo or artwork that you choose. It is mostly painted in a faded gold paint. With the middle section painted to look like marble in darker browns, reds and orange tones. Antique Victorian picture frame made of wood and gesso. It has an ornate design with some gilt. The frame measures 14-5/8" x 17-3/4" It does come with glass that is held in by nails on the back. The glass portion measures approximately 11 inches by almost 14 inches. There is a wire attached to the back for hanging. Overall this frame is pretty good condition with most of that gesso in tact. However it does show signs of age and wear. There are some small cracks in the gesso And some old green paint along the top. The glass does have one scratch. There os a picture. Oval, gilded wood picture frame with gesso ornaments, was hand made in the"FRAMES and LOOKING GLASSES" workshop of APC Bonte in Cincinnati, Ohio in the second half of the nineteenth century. Part of the original label is still can be seen on the back. I do not know if the picture of a mother and her son in the 9 1/2" opening is also a period antique, but I am positive that the black touch-ups on it were not made by Photoshop or Corel Draw. The frame and the picture is in very good to excellent condition, but the gesso decoration was shaved off from the outer rim of the frame for some times ago. This is the larger of the two Victorian marbelized frames that I have listed this week-this one is 12x14 1/4 outer and 8 by 10 inner area. The frame is Victorian and about 150 years old and does in fact have some minor damage-note in the photos the areas that need restoration-could easily beused as is however. Antique Victorian Ornate Metal Gold Mantel Picture Frame 19th Century?
Victorian Ornate Metal Gold Mantel Picture Frame This elegant frame dates from the 19th or early 20th century. On the back toward the top are the numbers 8724 845. On the bottom of the back on one side it looks like PAT with something I can’t read. On the right side it looks like the date: 12/19/94. Which I am guessing would be 1894. Look at the pictures closely; maybe you can enlighten me if you can make out more. It stands 12 inches tall and is approximately 7 1/8 inches wide. It holds a picture 4 1/4 inches wide by 6 1/4 inches tall. It is made of heavy iron and has a beautiful gold colored finish. It has 3 metal picture holders to hold a picture in but is missing the glass. There are no breaks or repairs.

NOTE THAT THIS FRAME IS FOR A LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. For sale is an outstanding original late 19th-century Barbizon style gold gilded American picture frame. This frame formerly held a large mirror when it was in the possession of the corporate offices offices of The Gleason Book Company. It was fitted with a built up back to accept a mirror. The mirror has since been broken and removed from the frame. This frame was originally used to house an oil on canvas painting. Our hope is that this frame once again surrounds a gorgeous American oil on canvas painting. However the pieces are still in place to add a gorgeous mirror. The frame is in very good condition. 98% of the frame is all there. The gold gilt is all original and there is no in paint touch ups or gold overpaint anywhere on this frame. It is very hard to find these massive large frames ... morewith no touch up and in such fine condition. There are of course a few areas of gesso and gilt loss but that are small and din not take away from the beauty of this frame. One applied corner ornament is missing. I used an tiny easel to take the pictures but its not included. It has a black and white photograph circa late 19th century. It measures 11 1/2" wide by 13 1/4" high the oval area for the picture measures 9 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide. Around the edge of the oval opening. There are four swirly decorations. These are separated from the frame. Yet they are still attached. It appears that there is a metal rod connecting the separated pieces to the frame. I have seen antique frames repaired of their gesso losses. If you are wanting to repair this, read the last paragraph, it may help. We are a smoke free home. Oval Picture Frame Couple Original 19th Century Photographic Salt? Print
This is a nice 1900 era oval picture frame and matting with the original portrait of a couple still in it. It is unusual to see the woman sitting and the man standing as seen in this photograph. I'm not sure of the photographic process that it comes from. The paper fiber is clearly visible; it has a matte surface; and the image is red-brown hue. It could be a salted paper print made between 1840-1865. Looking at it close up. The viewers sees that the pupils in the eyes have been burned in. The size 11.5"by 9.5' The original glass is there with no cracks. The frame does have two spots around the edge that were touched up. The back reads"Cleveland and Osgood Manufactures of Picture. Antique 19th Century Ornate Wood Bubble Dome Glass Oval Picture Frame 22"x25"
Fantastic Victorian era ornate oval picture frame with curved/ dome glass. This is one of the larger sizes measuring approx. 25" long x 22" wide. The frame has numerous small rubs/ dings/ chips consistent with a 100+ year old hand crafted frame. The frame is solid wood. With high relief appliqué gold accented moldings and a brushed finish that gives the wood a tiger strip appearance. The frame and glass both appear original and un-altered in any way. I have only seen one other frame like this one and it was identical in every way except it was smaller than this one. It might be hard to tell from the pictures, but the glass is domed shaped with about 2" of curve from the center to the edge. For your consideration is an original French Depose Frame from Paris ornately decorated with ribbon. Cross bow torches and leaves. The frame has substantial weight and I am guessing its either cast iron or brass. The glass is not original, has little chips in the corners(not visible though) and slides a bit but it will suffice if you chose not to replace the glass. The back of the frame attests to its old age. The metal is well worn however glimpses of brass still peek through. So it is safe to say the cabinet back IS brass.
