Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush. Antique Perfume bottle possibly from France vintage 1930s deco piece. The Deco pattern in brass is quite pretty with prong leaf shapes that accent the Embroidered Flower Center which is overlaid with a plastic coating. The glass is a dark purple almost black. The Stopper is accented with a rhinestone. The dabber on the stopper is plastic and is whole. The Perfume bottle is unbroken. However I would like to note that two of the brass leaves on the back of the bottle have been broken off due to age[please see photos] The size of this lovely diminutive piece is 1 1/2"across x 1 3/4" high. Antique Art Glass Perfume Bottle Base Light Purple w Enameled Flowers & Gold
This is an old perfume bottle base acquired from an estate. I have no idea of the age or origin but it appears to be a vintage piece. It is about 3 ½” tall and 2 ½” in diameter at the widest point towards the base. I’m assuming that it had some type of sprayer/atomizer that screwed into the metal top part. The glass is lightweight(almost like blown glass) and clear but has a light purple cast to it. There are enameled white flowers and leaf outlines. The leaves have a gold coloring. It is in used condition. There are no chips to the glass. The base has some surface scratches from use but there are no scratches on the sides. The metal neck top has a deep indent/scratch on the side. Perhaps this is a seam? definitely not a crack) There is some minor residue on the inside. Unbelievable perfume bottle. Vintage Studio Art Glass Purple to amber Bubble Perfume Bottle with a wonderful stopper. Quality and in mint condition. There are initials etched in the bottom This is vintage and exact age unknown. Beautiful curves with no chips cracks or repairs. I consider the color purple but in different lighting it pulls slightly different colors. Just shy of 6 inches tall with the stopper inside. I just love this piece and have hesitated to sell it so I am hoping that someone falls in love and will give it a good home. Next I have a perfume bottle or perhaps just a vase since it does not have a stopper. Wonderful animal print thick glass in browns. No makers marks No breaks or repairs. Unique art glass. Antique /Vntg PURPLE GLASS Perfume Bottle Atomizer HAND PAINTED ? CZECH BOHEMIAN
Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is pretty purple glass perfume bottle& atomizer. It is hand painted with flowers and greenery. The bottle has a lobed appearance but it is perfectly smooth on the outside. This lobed shape is an illusion created but having it"lobed" in the inside of the bottle. This is a very interesting effect that some Czech glass is known for. The best place to see the lobed internal glass is by looking through the bottom. The hand painted enamels are in very good condition with only a few pin-prick sized areas of loss. I love this purple color but you hardly ever see it. It's easier to find green. Red and even blue than to find purple. While the bottle is an original antique, I was not able to find an antique silver atomizer so I did use a new ... morereplacement piece with a new bulb to complete this bottle. I am selling it as pictured but if you are a perfume bottle"purist" and don't want the new atomizer and bulb just let me know and I am happy to keep them. The plastic syphon tube is intact. The bottle is empty& very clean inside and out. No makers marks but I do think it is most likely Czech and c. early 1900's. No chips or cracks noted- just one teeny nibble or popped bubble on the underside near the base. It is so small I could not get it to show up in the photos. The bottle with the atomizer is 3 1/4 inches tall and it is 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest part. All in all a very nice bottle in a hard to find color! This is a Gorgeous.RARE Dark Purple Glass Perfume Bottle By Biedermeier Very detailed with lots of beautiful gold& floral designs surrounding the bottle. Green Jewel on top. The bottle looks Black until held up to the light. When you can see that it is actually very DARK Purple. All original. The paintings and enamel are in excellent condition. Very little paint loss. The metal syphon tube is intact. I believe this is a Biedermeier bottle from the early 1900s. There is a label on the bottom. But it is illegible.
