Complete second century A.D. Roman glass perfume bottle(or“unguentarium” which possesses a light iridescent burial patina with purple, pink, blue and green highlights. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. Up for auction is a beautiful half doll related lustre ware perfume or scent bottle in a large size. She is a beautiful Pierette lady in her high ruffled white collar. She is wearing a beautiful blue lustre ware gown with a white panel in the font that is trimmed in white ruffly gathered lace. Two forest green bows are tied on each side of the front of her gown. The shape of the gown is in an Art Deco design with six sides"flared" part way down on both sides. Photo 7. She has two big round forest green buttons in high relief on her midriff. Her gown has"off the shoulder" sleeves. She holds three freshly picked pretty pink roses with their green leaves. Photo 9. All done in high relief. Of course! Her fingers are beautifully sculpted. Ok we just are not sure what type of animal he is with his curved horns BUT we do know he is wonderful standing 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches long the glass is in excellent shape. Now there was a paint coating on the glass and it has flaked off over the years we have shown flakes out of it BUT the glass is perfect right down to the tiny feet. The foil label reads Ninette Germany he need a good washing but we leave that to the new owners the cork might break off if taken out but again up to the new owner. Made in Western Germany on a silver disc on bottom. This is hand painted in raised enamels on a porcelain bottle. The stopper looks to be plastic, and I can't easily get it open so I am not going to try and force it, will leave that up to the new owner. This measures 4 1/2" tall and would be a great addition to your collectible bottles. The front label is especially pretty, with its colorful paper lavender flowers. The bottle is empty, but bottle and metal cap both still have a very definite and noticeable lavender scent when opened. I recall as a young child smelling this bottle when it was partly full, and the scent was even stronger than. They certainly knew how to make good cologne back in the day! Approximate measurements of bottle: 5" high x 4" wide x a little over 1" thick(measuring at the side) Perfume bottle in good basic condition. But being old and previously owned, is not perfect. There is soiling with surface scratches/ scuffs and dirt marks or old perfume stains to bottle and labels, and there is whitish old perfume residue and/or stains to bottle here and there. Bottle would benefit from a gentle cleaning, as except for being emptied, it has never been cleaned. No chips or cracks that I can see, but there are noticeable factory seam lines. Hello& welcome to my auctions. Up for auction is a sweet figural lady crown top porcelain perfume or scent bottle. She is pictured in the"The Collector's Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls" by F. Marion& N. Werner" on p.570. Photo 4. This sweet lady is wearing a pink/mauve scooped neck sleeveless gown. Her sweet face has rosy cheek. Red lips, dark eyes& one stroke soft eyebrows. Photo 3. She is wearing a crown of pretty pink roses on her head. She holds a matching freshly picked rose in her right hand. Soft green leaf like designs on top of her roses. Opens on her left side where her crown stopper sits. It is an original crown stopper& one that unscrews to release the scent. Incised on her back bottom porcelain her model number number"1566" incised below that is"Germany. Last photo. She is a beautiful& ... moremost charming treasure. Indeed! This sweet perfume bottle measures approximately 3 inches high with the crown stopper& approximately 2 1/2 inches high without the crown stopper. Photo 7. She measures approximately 7/8 inches across the very bottom where the bottle rests on a surface. All measurements taken at longest/highest/widest points. There are no chips. Cracks,flakes damage or restoration anywhere. There is some paint wear commensurate with her age. The crown stopper fits well but it is not a tight fit. This is a nice atomizer perfume bottle by Gregor of Bavaria Germany. The porcelain bottle is decorated on opposite sides with two different transfer ware floral arrangements including a large red rose on one side and an orchid on the other plus gold trim. The brass atomizer has a plum colored bulb in working order. Including the atomizer the bottle is about 5" tall. I can find no information on the Gregor company. I see they made both porcelain and glass perfume bottles. Others offer them for $75 to $125 EACH. I suspect this company operated after WWII up to maybe 1973 when WEST Germany became the norm for labeling. Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are described here-with. Germany, Floral w/ Gold Gilt& Exquisite Flower Top Pre-owned and in beautiful condition This DeVilbiss perfume atomizer is exquisite Estimated early 1950’s and made in Western Germany The bottom has two small labels one reads“DeVilbiss 750-61” and“Made in Western Germany” Hand painted floral pattern in pink and rose colors with gold gilt leaves and stems. The bottle’s base color is white and silky smooth; I believe this to be porcelain. The top is a gorgeous flower; most of these were brass with possible gold gilt coating. By the look of the top it appears this is that type. But I cannot confirm that. The atomizer measures 4 inches in height and the diameter is 4 inches. The top unscrews and smells of perfume. Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a happy Orange glass Perfume Bottle with gold tone atomizer. The base glass is clear and it has been painted orange with applied blue flowers and black accents. No chips. Cracks or repairs to the glass bottle. The syphon tube was broken so I did have to repair that and you will see that in the photos. The black bulb is also a newer addition that completes her new look. There is some wear the scratches to the gold tone atomizer as well as a split in the collar that is right behind where the tubing is attached so don't really see it when displayed. This is all in the photos for you. The bottle is fairly clean inside and out, just a bit of residue in the very bottom. You may want to spiff it up a bit more. The collar is stamped"Germany" ... morewhich I also tried to show in the photos. The bottle is 7 inches tall to the highest point of the gold atomizer. The base is 2 inches wide and does have a smooth, sunken pontil on the bottom. This is great bottle with a bright and fun design! This elegant Irice Import smoked glass perfume bottle with gold trim and carved delicate celluloid flowers top from West Germany. It has the metal tube atomizer but is missing the squeeze bulb. It is in excellent condition but could use some cleaning. Some minor scratches on the bottom only. Otherwise no chips, scratches or breaks. Stands approx. 7 ¾ tall x 2 ¾” at base. RARE PORCELAIN GERMAN Cat CROWN Top PERFUME BOTTLE GERMANY
This is a great crowntop perfume bottle. It is in good condition with a"k" mark on the bottom. Rare German figural perfume/ scent bottle in the shape of a seated cat. they are painted bright yellow. And there is a crown shaped stopper on the top of the cat; it is silver(or pewter) color with cork surrounding the part that extends down into the bottle. Cat, including crown, is approx 3 3/4 inches tall. The bottom of the cat is unglazed, and has the letter"K" on it. This is an unusual and cute bottle, and I think you'd be very pleased with it. The top is pale blue cut glass set in a gold leaf. The pump for the atomizer is enclosed in a gold mesh bag, the pumper is broken inside the bag. There are brown stains inside the bottle from the perfume, and there is a small crack in the underside of the glass on one of the edges, i tried to high light the crack in the photos. Very space are on it's sensibility and a perfect fit for a mid century vanity or bathroom. Only marked with the West Germany sticker but obvious it is a very high quality of glass. Has a few bubbles running through it which only adds to the texture for me. Chrome has some very minor pitting that can be buffed out. The little poof needs replaced but I think black or a color would look better anyhow. Just a neat and unusual item whether it adds to a collection or is the perfect piece for your Boudoir. ANTIQUE MINIATURE PERFUME BOTTLE MARKED“WESTERN GERMANY” OLDER THAN 1973 IN LOVELY CONDITION I traveled to see my relatives in 1973 and this is one of the“treasures” they gave me at the time. I have no idea how much older it is from the day they gave it to me but it certainly wasn’t new then. Over the years it has been packed away with my mother’s estate and the perfume has evaporated but the bottle is in perfect condition. Please note that the photos were taken in a RING box so you have some idea of the size. The bottle is 1 ½” X 1” weighs one oz. and has an emblem on the back that is stamped“WESTERN GERMANY” The filigree detail that surrounds the bottle is quite intricate and has a prong set rose tone crystal that is featured on the left bottom side of the bottle. Here is a vintage Irice magenta and gold glass Perfume Bottle. Made in West Germany. This Perfume Bottle is in good overall condition. But does have some issues; I believe it's missing- at least- the squeeze bulb. There's some tarnish where the cap screws on- see photo# 6 above. Also, the push top sits at a slight off-kilter angle- see photos. Lovely. Pre-owned, old glass perfume bottle. No damage, no chips or cracks, etc. Bottle is etched stamped/signed on the interior of the bottom" Bottle made in Germany" encased in a small etched circle. It's very faint and hard to see, but there. The gorgeous and ornate glass dauber is in perfect condition and fits nice and tight, no repairs, etc. The Art Nouveau era stopper motif is gold with a white wash over it and the pattern is cherub or putti. The motif is approx. 2 inches across. See all 11 photos for close ups. Approx. size and condition verification. Note that the bottle has two side glass seams( one on each side) which defines how it was made( photo 6) Without the dauber/stopper. The bottle on it's own is approx. 3 inches tall. You are bidding on a vintage lead crystal perfume bottle made and stamped by Gorham and this bottle was hand crafted in West Germany! I am not sure what year this is from. The box is tattered. But this is the original box for this piece. The box also reads"Textron" so I am not sure if this was distributed to the employees or it was a give-away. The bottle is clean and not chipped, and has probably just sat in this box. This bottle measures approximately 4" high. Sweet find! We have a smoke free home.
