This is a superb wooden carved mahogany pediment with the central carving with other carvings of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the period of the 19th century and is of european origin. Relief carved pediment. Centrally: a flower with other carvings of scrolling and cones. Other carvings of leaves and scrolling to either side. Rectangular in shape. The pediment has an overall size of about 24 x 6.5inches. Max depth of about 1inch. Condition: Considering the age. It's an original door pediment or head casing trim and is roughly 100 years old. It has several layers of peeling paint over what appears to be the original shellac finish. I removed much of the curling. Loose paint. It could be stripped and refinished or left as is! It would look great with the addition of a shelf and perhaps some metal coat/hat hooks or wooden pegs on the flat. Vertical surface area of the piece. It would also make a fine head or topper piece for a mirror or recessed niche or it could be used as intended above a door or window! The possibilities are endless! Architectural Salvage Eastlake Pediment Carved /Appliqued Oak Vintage Decorative
This is an Eastlake-style pediment and my best guess is that it's off a dresser or a mirror. It is carved and the arch is an applique. The oak has no stain or varnish left on it and is quite lovely in that it's survived to find a new use as a decorative wall hanging. It is 22" long. 7" high and a little more than an inch thick.

Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. It was originally the crown to a built in armoire. There is a small shelf at the top that is trimmed in reel and bead molding. The breast has applied carved festoons with flowers. It measures 67.75 inches wide by 8.75 inches tall and is 3.25 inches deep. Overall it is in good co ndition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a couple light cracks. The right side return molding is missing. There is some wood loss at the bottom. Please look at the pictures carefully.
