Antique 19th Century FRENCH Ciel de Lit Canopy Corona RAMS Heads
Antique French Ciel de Lit with four rams heads and Greek key design along the exterior perimeter. The canopy is 16 inches in diameter. Each beautifully detailed ram is 2 1/2 by 3 inches. Metal appears to be brass or bronze plated not sure but it has a lovely aged patina. Lace fabric, ivy or any of the other items are not included in this auction, only the Ciel de lit. Condition is very good especially for its age, I would change the metal chain but will leave that to the new owner to decide. Please review all the pictures as they are part of the description. The wood appears to be oak but I'm not positive. It still has that wonderful old patina to the wood. It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. There may be other spots of chipped wood, but nothing that noticeable. Despite the flaws, this is a very old hand carved wooden pediment to display and enjoy! It is still awesomely beautiful.
