This is a lot of 43 antique casters. I have separated into a wood lot(27 units) on the left and metal lot(16 units) on the right. The condition of wheels vary. But all turn freely. You will get the lot exactly as shown in the picture. Antique Payson Mfg Co. 360 Degree Cast Iron Wooden Wheel Furniture Casters
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND TERMS BEFORE BIDDING! FREE SHIPPING! Up for auction are Five antique/ vintage furniture cast iron wooden wheel casters(5) total Circa 1880’s. Recovered from an antique furniture carpenters inventory. They are we believe to be Payson Mfg Co. 360 Degree cast iron casters with wooden wheels. An extensive research of the web produced none like it and only two similar larger casters made by Payton. The casters are stamped P Mfg Co. Nov 22 81 as best as can be seen. But the full name cannot or was not included on these. Two of the five still have the original wooden wheels; the other three have fallen off. They are unique because the three 1/4” mounting holes are hidden within the skirted swivel base which holds the disc shaped Babbitt bearings. The mounting screws are screwed in via the underside access hole ... moreas it rotates around(see pictures) The wooden wheels can be replaced because casters of this era were“pinned” in place. Remove pin insert wooden wheel and reinsert pins blunting the ends. The dimensions are as follows(approximately) Overall measurements of each caster is 2- 3/4' tall by 1– 1/2'wide. Mounting Plates are 1– 1/2" in diameter and the stem insert is 1” tall. The wheels measure 1– 1/8” by 5/8” and provide 1– 3/4” overall clearance furniture. Good condition for their age. All spin freely without extensive rust issues. They were cleaned and lightly oiled and can be easily restored for authentic antique furniture restoration, but some want to maintain the antiquity and current condition so we are leaving restoration decision to you. A set of four iron and porcelain wheel case furniture casters. The wheels are 1 1/2" diameter and 7/8" wide. The iron shafts of the casters are 3" long and 1/2" diameter at the fattest point. Lots of large case pieces(dressers. Armoires, beds, buffets) had metal hollows in the bottom of their legs and feet made for casters such as these. All wheels spin freely. They have"tread wear" on the outside edges and rust stains around the hub. One wheel has some chipping around that center spoke too but is still perfectly useable. 16 Vintage Antique Porcelain Wood Iron Furniture Casters Rollers Wheels +
Up for auction are a lot of 16 mixed sizes and types of old furniture casters/rollers/wheels. 8 white porcelain casters roughly measure 1 1/2" in diameter. 4 are 1/2" thick and 4 are 3/4" thick. The two other large white porcelain casters are a 1/2" thick and just a tiny bit larger in diameter. The little white porcelain caster measures 1 1/8" in diameter and 5/8" thick. There are 4 odd wood casters(one has a flat spot) and one iron/steel one. There is another screw smoothing that was in the bag with the casters and one small metal claw that was stuck on a wheel. Purchased at a recent estate sale in Kentucky. Use the zoom, it will show you everything! Set of 4 Victorian 1851 Goodyear Brass Iron and Wood Wheels Furniture Casters
We have here a Set of 4 Victorian 1851 Casters. The wheel appears to be wood. But being made by Goodyear, they could be rubber. Its hard to tell, and I do not want to scratch it to make sure. They measure 3" tall. Wheels have 1" diameter. Iron peg is 1 3/8" tall. Peg is 1/4" wide. 5/8" between the three screw holes, center to center. All the tires say Goodyear 1851. LR Combs Co. On the iron top it says Pat May 20'73. 1873! The base is brass. The top is iron. Has 3 screw holes. All wheels are smooth and the iron top rotates smoothly. These were off an old victorian desk! Perfect for refinishing a piece with a great pair of period casters! One wheel. On the 3 screw holes, one of the holes has a split. I think they pierced it to close the edge. Its definitely has a split, but appears to be connected, like they pulled ... moreit out and it broke, but it was still hot and came back together! They are worn.
