Vintage Antique Wood Wooden Dovetail Handled Box Tool Box? Brass #5 + Hinges NR
Available for your consideration is an Antique Dovetail Wood- Wooden Box with handle From a local estate sale and offered AS FOUND. I would assume that this box once held some type of tool(like maybe a surveyer's tool) but I do not know for sure. It is in overall good condition for age, and is structurally sound, but has some dirtiness and staining from use. There is also some surface scratching and a couple of surface holes on one side(they do not go all the way through the wood) Also. Inside of the box, on one side is remains from what must have been some type of a lining. see images) It can be pulled off by hand. But I leave that, and the cleaning of the box. To you. The sides of the box are made from wood(sorry I don't know which kind of wood) with nice dovetail construction. a large vintage magnifying glass just over 4ins diameter and just over 9ins long.With what i think is a brass frame with plated finish( the plating showing wear in places)a wooden handle which shows graining and looks to have once had an ebonised finish,the glass show a chip at its edge and has at some time been glued into place by a previous owner(i cannot seee why)the whole apart from the above mentioned is in generally good condition for its age and usage and is thought to be circa 1920s/30s and weighs just under 300grms

9 OLD WOODEN HANDLED FORKS & KNIVES-2-MEAT FORKS-LIVING HISTORY RE-ENACTORS
Offered for Auction: Lot of 9 Old Wooden Handled Forks& Knives. There are two 2-prong meat forks. One with an iron rest, one 4 tine and four 3 tine forks along with two knives with shaped blades. The cutlery all have good old patina and rust and signs of general use. The tines on the forks are rusted and the wooden handles are worn from use. One knife is marked with the maker's name. However I'm unable to read it and this knife might not be quite as old as the other pieces. None of the pieces match. I have not cleaned any of the pieces and all have original patina. I am uncertain of the age or origin or wood species used and the lot is being sold as is. Condition: Fair to Poor given their age and use. The forks have surface rust and the one meat fork with the iron rest has pitted with age. The iron rest is loose and the butt end ... moremetal trim piece is missing on one side. The longer meat fork is missing a brass pin due to the back having significant wood loss/wear from use as shown. One of the tines on a 3-tine fork is missing its tip. There is surface staining and dings and nicks to the handles from use on most of the pieces. Some of the tines are bent. The lot weighs 1 lb 2 oz A nice addition to anyone's collection. These are marked sterling on both handles on both sides next to the sterling is a mark that looks like two three leaf clovers with a w in a circle in the middle. Maybe Whiting Manufacturing? As far as the condition: The spoon at the tip on the inside has a small piece of wood off the surface. The fork on one tip has damage at the end. IF you can not see the damage in the photos let me know and I will add more. Other than that I have not cleaned them. This beautiful fine china set consist of 6 saucers and cups. They are small so I think they are demitasse cups. There are also 4 clear glass shot size glasses. The best part is the nice original tray they are in. It is a wooden bottom with four feet and I believe brass holders for each cup and glass and plate holders. The handle is the same brass with a white porcelain handle. It just displays so well. The cups and saucers are in great condition, no chips or cracks or wear. There are two shot glasses missing and one of the four has a chip. The wooden tray has a slight crack on one side, otherwise overall in good condition for its age. The marking on the china is Thomas. I am not familiar enough to know if this is Thomas of Rosenthal or Thomas of Sevres Bavaria Germany. They have brass bands at the ends which are riveted to the steel knife and fork. When not in use the knife and fork are pushed in each other's handle to form a case as seen in the photo. The knife has Made in England stamped on it. The condition is as seen in the photos. A bit of discolouration to the steel, but the handles are in really good condition for their age. The knife and the fork each measure approx 7.5 inches long having a total length of approx 8.25 inches when pushed together. Offered for sale is this 5 3/4" wood handled corkscrew. Both ends of the handle have a star stamp. The metal screw has a bell. Stamped"Italy. The handle is 3 1/2" across.
