Offered for auction with a low starting bid and NO RESERVE. Is this wonderful Antique family Holy Bible dated 1873. Published by the American Publishing Company. It measures roughly 13" x 10" x 4" and weighs more than 13 pounds. Unfortunately, this bible is in need of restoration and for that reason, you are buying this as-is and returns will not be accepted on this item. Look carefully at my photos and feel free to ask me any questions. The binding of the book is a wonderful heavily embossed leather with gold embellishment. There are two brass or gold tone metal clasps. Both the front and back end boards have separated completely from the spine. The first several pages of the bible are worn and damaged with foxing and watermarks. Most of the interior pages are actually in good condition with some foxing and yellowing but not ... morebad. This bible contains hundreds of illustrations plus a dictionary, and interesting facts about the history and culture of the people and places mentioned in the Bible. It also has a few pages for family photographs(there are none unfortunately) and a page for recording Marriage. That was never filled out either. This bible is a fine example of a 19th century family heirloom and worthy of restoration or taken apart and used for parts. Good luck bidding!

Inscribed: Mary Henderson- Sydney 25th Sept, 1835 from her sincere friend W Croasdill" Book 1) The Holy Bible- old and new testament- Book 2) The Book of common prayer. I have done a little research on the'inscription' according to the Hunter River Gazette Newspaper 1841-42 Index.Newcastle. At Newcastle Christ Church- A Mr. W. Croasdill was appointed as Church Warden for the Chaplain. Period fits- although probably requires a little more research. In pencil there is also the name F.M. Darwall(this was probably a later addition. Condition: Please keep in mind this set is over 175 years OLD! Leather case appears original has seen some wear over the years. ... moreThe top& flap portion has been seperated from the rest of the case. Someone has attempted an amateur repair with some tape in order to keep the pieces together. At one point there was probably a strap or piece of elastic/ribbon to keep the case closed. A small tear in the leather) The pages of both books are in excellent condition-NO water stains. Significant rips/tears or other damage- all pages appea to be intact. It was published by by Catholic Press in 1960 and comes in its original box(box has wood stops to prevent the Bible from moving inside the box. Its dimensions are about 10 1/2 inches x 8 inches and weighs 6 pounds 2 ounces. T he cover is genuine red leather with gold lettering. The cover is Hard-Cover with intentionally ... morecurled edges(as pictured) The sides of the pages are gold tipped(as pictured) The binding says"The Holy Angels Edition" The contents of the Bible are too many to individially mention and the pages are not all labelled or in continous sequence so the total number of pages is not known(you would have to count them) Also. There is no overall"Table of Contents" that list all of the sections. As pictured, the only"Table of Contents" concerns the Old and New Testaments. Specifically. Vintage 1960 Leather Bound Holy Bible. Quite large and heavy. It measures 12" x 9.5" and 3" thick. It has 1088 pages of text and pictures with a 32 page atlas in the back with pictures and maps. It is a red letter edition with Jesus's words in red. This family bible has never been written in and is in good condition.
