Set Used 4-5 times per year for 60 years. Always hand washed by my mother. I know she polished them from time to time. They show usual wear and marks from 60 years of use. I guess they need some polishing. 78 piece set includes(all are Birks Queen Mary Pattern from 1952 except for the cake knife which is Birks. But a different pattern. 10-dinner knives, 10- dinner forks, 11- teaspoons(5.25" long) 6- teaspoons(5.5" long) 10-tablespoons, 10-butter knives, 10- salad forks, 1 butter serving knife, 5-8.5" serving spoons, 1 cake knife(has some scratches) and 1 cake fork, 1-gravy ladle, 1-soup spoon? 1-pickle fork, and the Pacific Silvercloth box which is in fair condition on the outside with some chips and marks, but is good on the inside. I believe this is a porridge bowl or a baby's porridge bowl. The diameter is 7 1/2 inches at the top and 7 b3/4 at the base. This beautiful bowl has vibrant colours and is in excellant condition for its age. There are two minor chips on the inside rim of the bowl as seen in my pictures. The gold rim band around the middle of the bowl has a small pit mark. The outside top rim reads. This ephemera collection of the R. M.S. Queen Mary of the Cunard White Star Line was part of my grandfather's travel scrapbook. Most of the items being sold here were printed in England. This is a large collection of memorabilia and not all could be shown with only 12 photos. My Grandfather notated many of the pieces to show people he met and his own berth or table seatings. There are 2 newspaper clippings included which describe records set by the Queen Mary on the trip west ending August 24. 1936, on which she won the Atlantic blue ribbon from the French ship Normandie. All of this material is from that trip. Included are 2 third class cabin plans, 2 third class passenger lists, 2 landing arrangements, 7 postcards of RMS Queen Mary, embarkation arrangements, first,tourist and 3rd class luncheon menus from August 22, 2 pieces of stationery, ... morebreakfast menu for August 23, Dinner menu for August 22, 2 guides to tourist accommodations, 2 August 19, 1936 lists of tourist class passengers, brochure pictures of tourist class dining room, bar, swimming pool, stateroom, nightclub, Austin Reed haberdashery shop, smoke room, a race card and13 vintage black and white photos of the exterior of the ship in dock taken by my grandfather, a professional photographer. A pretty pitcher commemorating the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. The portraits of the King& Queen are very well done. The picther is decorated all over with purple flowers(looks like violets) and has an embossed design of flowers on tall stems all around the bottom of the pitcher. The top edge is nicely sculpted with gold gilt trim. It is 6.25 inches high. 6.25 inches from tip of spout to the handle and 2.5 inches in diameter. This pitcher was made in Bavaria which was not unusual for commemoratives at this time especially when they wanted a fine piece and this is a fine piece. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Lovely Pair King George V & Queen Mary Coronation Cups by Royal Doulton 1911
This auction is for a Lovely Antique Pair of Commemorative Cups made by Royal Doulton of England for the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. One cup is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There is a VERY TINY fleabite(see last photo) in the rim but no chips or cracks or repairs. Th e other cup has several tight hairlines(see photos 10 and 11) Both cups have crazing as is common for pieces of this vintage. The cups are tan in color and are beautifully decorated with images of the new king and queen and the year. The cups are 3 3/4 inches tall and 3 3/8 inches across.
