You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. This stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age. No chips. Cracks, or repairs. The original cork is missing. The black transfer graphics are still ... morevery clear and crisp. There is a bit of black transfer ink on the neck of the jug. This was common as we mentioned they were hand stamped and obviously the worker who stamped the bottle had transfer ink on his hand. This turn of the century jug is quite hefty with black or deep navy blue graphics over a cream/ off-white background with an applied handle highlighted in tan along with the neck. Nice old one gallon whiskey shoulder jug from Western Stoneware Co. in Monmouth. IL. It has been used and shows some wear mainly around the bottom. There is a surface crack around the bottom(pic. 4) but the jug doesn't leak. The bottom edge has a couple of chips, see pics. 5-6. There are a couple of spots where the brown shiny glaze wasn't applied uniformly at the factory. I do not have a cork for this jug. Shipping allows for double boxing. Rare. Early, 5 Gal Stoneware Jug US Standard Pottery East Liverpool Ohio VGC Description: Rare. Early, 5 Gal Stoneware Jug, marked with the logo of the US Standard Pottery Company, East Liverpool Ohio This lovely jug comes from an Estate Auction in Southern Florida. It took me quite a while to identify this jug. Many jugs are described as being rare. This one is. It was made by the US Standard Pottery Company in East Liverpool. Ohio. The company is listed as manufacturing ceramics from 1886-1927. There were earlier pottery manufacturers in this area with the name of Standard. But information is scarce. The eagle logo is correct for US Standard. During the years that US Standard was producing a wide range of products. The East Liverpool, Ohio area was know as"The Pottery Capital of the World" The area had high quality clay and a ... morecommunity of skilled ceramic artisans. I would suggest that the current very good condition of this 5 gallon jug testifies to the high quality of manufacturing. The jug is 19.75" tall and 11.5" in diameter. The height from the base to the shoulder is 13' From the photos you can see the expected imperfections from its original firing. Age discoloration on the shoulder and a few areas where small chips of glaze have been lost. There are no cracks or other issues that I am aware of. It's a lovely pieice of stoneware. The light colored glaze is amazingly beautiful for its age. The shape is delightful and overall, its just a charming piece of antiquity. And, it's at a good price.

We are pleased to offer a I.W. Harper Whiskey stoneware jug from Nelson County. Kentucky. The jug once contained whiskey from the Bernheim Distilling Co. of Louisville, KY. It features brown lettering on Cream Color and there is crazing throughout. It touts the fact that the whiskey was awarded by the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exp/1884-1885/New Orleans. We are pleased to offer this very nice 7 ½ inch tall Art Nouveau stoneware scotch jug. The Coronation Brand lists itself as an Ohio Blend and is in very good condition. This jug may have been produced by the Sherwood Brothers of New Brighton. Pennsylvania. From what I have discovered, this was the only U.S. Pottery of its time that had the ability to do wrap around transfers of the good design and sophistication represented by this Art Nouveau container. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.
