Beautiful Stoneware/Earthenware Jug/pitcher**Rare Shape** No Reserve**
This is a RARE beautiful antique stoneware jug! It is gray with a blue raised design all over it. It has two different crests on the bottom and top and there is a very scary face right next to the pour spout. I could not find another like it online or at antique dealers. Years ago when I had an antique dealer look at it she said it was made in the early 1900's. She said it was made to hold alcohol(Wine) or water. She estimated a $400 value. since then I have not found one like it. It is quite heavy around 8lbs. Stands 18" tall and is 10 1/2" at its widest point. There are no markings on the bottom except for the#78. If anyone has any info at all on this jug I would appreciate it. I really don't know anything about this beautiful piece of pottery. It measures about 9 inches tall and 16 inches around at the widest point. It appears to be quite old and has Poland stamped on the bottom. There no cracks or chips just a few imperfections in the piece. Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware JUG Pitcher Classical Bas-Relief on Brown We are selling some items from the collection of some old friends who are facing health issues and need to downsize. Take a look at this jug or pitcher. It has classical style bas-relief figures with angels and cupids/ cherubs with a ram! The background glaze is dark brown. There are no marks other than either a 6 or 9 on the bottom. Size is about 6" tall and 10" across from handle to spout. There is a book on Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware that can come along that they had marked as supporting their identification of this jug as being Herculaneum. It has a jug very similar and it too was unmarked and the book refers to another piece that was marked that has very similar elements(esp. across the bottom band) It is believed to be circa 1810 and ... moreis a beautiful piece. They had been told that it was"museum" quality. I assume that the term"jasperware" would be correct in describing this kind of stoneware or pottery that has bas-relief classical style scenes. I am not an expert in these things but I would be remiss if I did not say that I don't see how this jug can be that old! It is immaculate(other than some darkening of the lower part of the bas-relief figures) I would think that it would have some signs of age. I can't find any information online as to whether there are reproductions. I have great faith in the ebay community to weigh in and tell me what they think about its origin. However, this stoneware may also have purple or brown enamels. Marks seldom appear on Grenzhausen ware, and the bases, as a rule, present a smooth and carefully sponged suface. This is a Doulton Lambeth jug or pitcher with the impressed HK mark of artist Ethel Hawkins who worked with the famous Eliza Simmance. This is a c1900 piece in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks and only minimal surface wear. The mottled blue/brown colors and all of the colors are lovely and the glaze bright and shiny. The design is a stylized tree. Beautiful Blue& White Stoneware Jug This is a very attractive blue and white stoneware jug that resembles"The Fox Hunt" scenes. The handle of the jug is in the shape of a fox. One the front side is a man wearing a top hat and holding what looks like a whip in the darker blue on this side you can see dogs that appear to be running at the bottom. The back side appears to have men on horses as well as walking, the blue part at the bottom on this side appears to have a horn like piece as well as the head of fox. It also appears to be somewhat dated 1774-1934 however these numbers are a little hard to make out so they be different. The bottom of the piece is marked"Rockingham" this jug is very neat and different and in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. I can not tell you the age of this jug. THIS IS WONDERFUL! It is a Rare pitcher comparing President McKinley to Napoleon Bonaparte to satirize McKinley's imperialist pretensions. The pitcher was decorated by Alfred B. Evans. Philadelphia, circa 1895. Pitcher has gilt handle and base, with the figure wearing a black tricorn hat and boots, yellow/ greenish vest& blue waistcoat. The underside of the pitcher is marked" NAPOLEON JUG PAT APL FOR ALFRED B EVANS PHILA PA" I believe this is EARLIER THAN THE JUGS THAT HAVE Patd Feb 2nd. 1896, but I'm not sure as this is not my area of expertise. This piece has a chip on one of the corners of his hat as you can see in the photos and a very minor chip two very minor chips along the base edge with some of the edging having some acceptable each crackles. Vintage Stoneware Jug/Pitcher Brown & Beige 6.25"T SET of 2--VGC Estate Find
Offered is a set of 2 stoneware vintage jugs/pitchers in a 2 toned beige& dark brown. They are in very good vintage condition. There is some minor damge. Some of the crazing looks like a crack but it does not affect the integrity of the item. Only the glaze. They do need cleaned but I will leave that to the new owner. The were found in a very interesting estate but I do not know the age or orgin as they are unmarked. They measure aproximately 6 1/4" tall, 4 1/2" wide from spout to handle, and a bottom diameter of 3" If I had to guess these jugs have been around awhile. Please see photos& thank you for looking! ANTIQUE 11" TALL STONEWARE GLAZED PITCHER/JUG/BOTTLE MUST L@K NICE Fresh from an estate here in Maine is Antique Stoneware Jug Bottle and it is really nice. It looks to be all hand thrown and has a great primtive look that would look awesome in someone's home. The jug measures 11 inches and 3 inches diameter. It has a really nice brown salt glaze on it. It is also marked on the front and the back which is usually not seen on these old bottles. It does have a seperation starting in the handle that was done during firing and has lasted all these years. It is still solid. This is must for a collector or collection believe me you will love it. Antique Salt Glazed Cobalt Blue Incised Stoneware Pitcher Jug Rustic/Primitive
Beautiful very large salt glazed. Hand made Stoneware Pitcher/Jug with cobalt blue incised decorations on grey back round. I bought this pitcher in Germany but I believe it was made in Betschdorf, Alsace Region of France(German before WWII) but I am not expert. Maybe made in the Westerwald Region of Germany. Pitcher is very old and show some signs of age and usage but with no cracks. Fractures, repairs or ships that I can detect. Antique stoneware wash pitcher shabby chic
Very old heavy large stoneware pitcher has a few surface cracks but still functional. Has old paint on the outside of glazing that can be removed but looks kind of shabby chic the way it is. Approx 12" at highest point weighs about 5 lbs
