Antique Cobalt Blue Decorated Stoneware Jug; Old Salt Glaze 19th Century Pottery
Up for bids we offer a beautiful. 19th Century, 2 gallon, stoneware jug in exceptional condition. Right out of an estate, this salt glazed piece has a folksy, cobalt blue floral decoration on the front as well as an underscored number"2" above it. It was found in the western New York region and isn't signed by the pottery that produced it but there's a good chance it is a Lyons- Fisher or Burger jug. It has a gorgeous, dark, and earthy coloring along with that speckled, salt glazed surface. This piece is very well preserved and has only one small pitted type flaw near the handle. There are no other chips, not even around the spout or the bottom edge. The handle hasn't been broken and there aren't any cracks or hairlines anywhere on the piece. As a little bonus, we'll include the very nice, hand-carved wooden ... morestopper it was found with. The jug measures about 13 1/2 inches high with a bottom diameter of 8 1/4 inches while the very top measures 2 1/4 inches across. As far as condition goes, this is the nicest piece of decorated stoneware we have ever found. It would make a super addition to any collection and also a top notch example to start one off! There are NO CRACKS, NO LINES, NO CHIPS, etc. There is a very Old, Pin-point, hardly noticeable flea-bite, on the inside of the Mouth, where it looks like the side of an opener may have caught the Lip. Not Distracting or considered damage. Bottle is Super clean. I have never heard of this Merchant, and wonder if the bottle is listed(in Graci's Book? etc. Nice!

Antique Vintage Primitive 2 Tone Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug/Lamp Hand Painted
This is a wonderful old brown top salt glazed whiskey jug measuring approximately 11 inches tall and a diameter of approximately 7 inches. The jug has no cracks but does have a few chips. 4 around the ledge of the jug, 2 of which are not that noticeable because they are located almost right on the ledge and blend in very well. The other two are just below the ledge(see picture 3) This jug also has a small hole drilled at the bottom of the back side for an electric cord(see picture 3) to be used as a lamp. The front side of the jug has an hand painted apple motif. Some of the paint has rubbed off but again does not in any way take away from the beauty of this jug and in fact would be expected for the age. The handle is perfect and the jug has had no repairs. There are some manufacturers defects(see picture 4) the most apparent which looks ... morelike a dent. I think it enhances the charm of this old jug. A beautiful jug for any collector or for decorative purposes.

W.R. Cobridge Grapevine Molded Salt Glaze Pitcher 1868. Beautiful salt glaze molded jug with a grapevine pattern and twig handle. It has a molded British registration mark on the base with the name"W.R. Cobridge Hampton" The registration mark dates the pattern to 1868. The jug measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide from spout to handle. It weighs 1 lb 8 oz(shipping weight 2 lbs) Condition: excellent. No chips or cracks. The twig handle feels a bit slick. Antique Stoneware: 19thC. English Puzzle Jug, Salt Glaze w/ Hunt Scene, ca.1840
An early salt-glazed English Puzzle Jug. Attributed to the Brampton(Chesterfield) pottery, ca.1840. A superb example featuring a continuous figural Hunt Scene sprig including hounds and horses. Both neck and rim are symmetrically pieced with geometric shapes, with an additional scalloped edge profile on the upper lip(see close-up) One of the spouts has loss as shown; otherwise in excellent overall condition with no hairlines, cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. Beautiful detail and workmanship; fine honey-brown glaze. This piece deserves a prominent location in any Antique Stoneware collection. Please see photo set for complete details and further description. Similar examples typically sell in the $400-800 range, depending on condition and complexity; more information on these fascinating jugs can be readily found on the internet. ... moreMeasures approximately 7"W overall, including handle; 8-1/4"H to top of handle, and 7-1/2"H to top of rim. The base diameter measures 3-3/4" Offered with absolutely No Reserve. Ships fully insured to the highest bidder. Domestic bidders only, please; I do not ship Internationally at this time. Good luck, and be sure to check my other Auctions ending shortly. Thanks. Some brief information on Puzzle Jugs follows: The defining feature of a puzzle jug is its pierced neck. Which makes it impossible to pour or drink the contents. In fact, the jug is made with a hollow handle and a hollow ring around the neck, typically fitted with two or three spouts. The idea is that the contents can be sucked up through the handle and drunk from one of the spouts by covering the others with your fingers. However, this might be a little too obvious, so the potters typically included at least one additional small hole, usually up underneath the handle, which also had to be covered before drinking. Antique Salt Glaze Jug Early 1800's Rare Find
Up for bid is a very old salt glaze jug. This jug is in remarkable condition considering it's age.Alot of people like to collect the old redwing salt glaze or the primitive salt glaze jugs. But the old utilitarian ones have a much better history.this jug is that jug. This jug was unearthed at a local strip mining job sight. The young man running the machine after moving tons of dirt noticed a wooden shed buried beneath him,he carefully removed the dirt and inside this underground wooden shed where these salt glaze jugs,he told the others on the job site of his find some where still in tact, and I was given 2,now the law requires that they call someone in the case where they unearth any type of historical items, but this shuts down there job, they didn't want there job shut down and have to miss any work so they salvaged the good ones and ... morekept on working. The guys had no idea what the shed full of jugs was used for some thought a water shed for underground miners this area was common for coal mines.Others thought maybe moonshine jugs hidden from the law.I don't suppose we will ever know if they where for water or whiskey jugs, they are very primitive jugs. They would fit into many decors country primitive even equestrian,it is in good condition no cracks.I f you have any questions please email me and thanks for the look.I will be listing the other one as well.

Salt glazed stoneware like this was very common in the 19th-Century America and potters produced it all over the country, sometimes stamping it with their maker’s marks- ... morebut most of the time, they did not put on an actual name-like this one. It weighs over 20 pounds and is 18 inches tall, 11 inch base and a 1 ½ inch opening. It is in excellent condition. Posted with

Antique Pennsylvania Salt Glaze 2 Gal. Single Handled Jug Beautiful Colors!!
There is no reserve on this great-looking antique salt glazed jug. Up for auction is a two gallon salt glazed jug from southwestern Pennsylvania. It is late 19 th C. with a single handle. The coloring is pretty spectacular with shading ranging from oranges to browns. There is also one flat side to this jug as if it were fired lying partially on its side. On one side is a painted ribbon mark. But it was not fired into the clay like the cobalt marks that we usually see. There is an incised mark around the neck of the jar as if the entire mouth and handle were applied at the same time before firing. There are no cracks or chips. But there is a roughness around the mouth of the jug. We will pack this jug box in a box to ensure its safety. This jug has great character. The measurements are: 11” x 7” in diameter. We only accept PayPal as payment. ... moreWe will ship according to the shipping calculator. Thank you for your interest.

Antique Beehive Jug Old Stoneware Vtg Primitive Salt Glaze Cobalt Blue Pottery
Hello My name is Alexandra. Please do not be afraid of my low amount of sales. I have learned from my father who has sold over 800 items on E Bay with 100% Positive feedback. You can be assured of the same experience as the people who purchased from him. It is my intention to list some of the nicest. Oddest, unusual collectible old items ever. I can say this because I already have possession of them and it is just a matter of listing them. I am willing to bet this will be your favorite site to visit. I believe that I have a good eye for old unusual collectibles. Please put me on your favorite list and check back once a week to see what I am listing. All items will have insurance and a tracking# I will let you know once the item is shipped. Items will be packaged well to ensure safe delivery. I am paying my own way through college and all ... morebids are greatly appreciated. Enough introduction, I hope you enjoy this journey and here's to you becoming my favorite customer. I really don't deal with jugs a whole lot. But this one really caught my eye. It really has that beehive shape to it. Especially since the bottom narrows down just like the top does. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. It is a very interesting jug and will compliment any collection. It stands approximately 14 inches high without the wooden stopper. $22.00 will ship it anywhere in the lower 48 states. Please che
