NEWARK LIQUOR JUG Pottery Wine Spirit Earthenware Bottle Early 1900s Primitive
If you've got yourself a basement bar or require an authentic Period item for accurate decorative representation. Now is your chance to make a shrewd, discriminating purchase-most surviving examples of this type of liquor jug are much smaller than this example, or are priced in the $80- $130 range- are usually shattered& found in pieces, during excavataions. Wheel-thrown pottery body with applied ring-finger handle. Most probably from the early 1900s. Overall measurements of about a foot high& eight inches acrosss No discernible hallmarks. But a good quality, utilitarian piece brought back from San Francisco, about fifteen years ago. No cracks. Dings or bruises; very nice& clean& thoroughly presentable. Naturally, there's a couple of flakes off the heel(as shown) that typically occurs when it's being removed from ... morethe kiln, since crockery tends to stick to the floor of the oven& needs to be'sawn' off. This thing is big& it's heavy. So the high bidder agrees that effective padding, packing& safe shipping shall be limited to ONLY EIGHTEEN DOLLARS, throughout the United States. Be sure to browse our additional listings. We welcome international buyers; just email us for a shipping quote BEFORE placing a bid.

Below I have provide some information that I found regarding this pottery maker that I thought would be helpful to those interested in knowing more about its history. Logan(1907:176) notes that in the northwest part of Calhoun County. Along the Pittsboro-Trusty-Water Valley road, there were outcrops of white Wilcox clay, and that they were used at one time in a small hand stoneware pottery on the Ersery plantation(Logan 1909:176) Following up on this indication of economically important stoneware clay in Calhoun County, Lusk(1961:62) notes that in the late 1880s B. F. Ussery operated a small hand pottery in northwestern Calhoun County where he made stoneware pitchers, jars, churns, jugs and crude tableware from the undifferentiated upper part of the Wilcox formation, where exposures of clay are generally silty or sandy, thin and infrequent. The"last" site of Ussery's pottery was believed to be on the north side of the old Branner to Water Valley Road near Union Grove Church. Lusk(1961:Figure 21) illustrates a jug and churn from the Ussery pottery, which were the property of W.R. Ussery of Bruce, Mississippi in 1960. In researching Arkansas stonewa

I am paying my own way through college and all ... morebids are greatly appreciated. Enough introduction, I hope you enjoy this journey and here's to you becoming my favorite customer. I really don't deal with jugs a whole lot. But this one really caught my eye. It really has that beehive shape to it. Especially since the bottom narrows down just like the top does. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. It is a very interesting jug and will compliment any collection. It stands approximately 14 inches high without the wooden stopper. $22.00 will ship it anywhere in the lower 48 states. Please che
Primitive American Folk Pottery 1 GAL. Stoneware Jug E & LP NORTON Bennington VT
Here for your consideration is an antique American Folk pottery stoneware jug. This is a one gallon jug measuring 11" tall and is 7" in diameter at the base. This features a gray salt glaze finish with a slight"orange peel" surface. There is also an incised band around the neck. It also features a cobalt blue slip trail in an oak leaf design. It is incised and cobalt washed with the potter's stamp. E& LP Norton, Bennington, VT. The initials stand for Edward Norton and Julius Norton's son, Luman Preston. The two worked together from 1861 to 1881. This dates the jug to that time period. All other wear is reflective of age and use. All sales are final so please ask questions before you bid. Payment is through Paypal. NO international sales or shipping at this time. Vy Old Vintage Antique Primitive Southern Pottery Crock Jug Milk Jar Alabama Ga
Found yesterday at the Summerville flea market. And were told it had original roots in the Lookout Valley area of Chattanooga. Our best guess puts it as an Alabama or more likely Georgia piece, based on the redness of the smooth ground bottom. It is an almost salmon-red, so Alabama is still an option though, in our opinion. condition is terrific, with only a couple extremely minor nicks around the spout, all shown up close in the photos. No cracks or hairlines of other issues, and you could fill this one to the rim and throw it right over your shoulder-SOLID! Measures about 12 3/4" high, and appears unmarked. Sure would have liked to have seen a nice juicy thumbprint on this handle base, no? UPS shipping for exact cost only-no handling or insurance charges of any kind. Thanks for looking, and good luck!

Antique Primitive Ovoid Redware Slip Decorated Jug, 1800s Folk Pottery
Here's a beautiful. Antique, redware jug in very good, as found condition! It has a fabulous, ovoid shape and is whimsically slip decorated and banded all the way around the upper third portion. This jug has an applied handle with thumbprint that connects with the spout that has never been broken and isn't chipped. The rim around the spout has some very old wear from past use; the edges are uneven and a couple chips are worn smooth. There is an early, carved, 3-inch, wooden stopper tied to the handle with handmade cord that adds some intrigue and charm to the piece. We found this old jug in the cellar of an old barn and it's just as we discovered it. Still dusty and a bit dirty. The patina hasn't been altered in any way. It has wonderful coloring and is blackened on the lower third portion on one side. Most of it appears to ... morebe unglazed with the possible exception of the area just above where the decorations begin as well as a few random spots within them. In the blackened portion of this jug is a spider hairline that is thin, faint, and not a structural concern. The overall height including the wooden stopper is 12 1/2 inches; without it, the jug stands 11 inches high. The spout measures just 1 inch in diameter while the bottom is 4 inches across. The bulbous midsection has a diameter of about 8 1/2 inches and a 26 inch circumference. It was likely used to hold water back in its time and wasn't considered anything special. Now days, antique redware is very collectible and great for interior decorating. This jug is a well-preserved, primitive piece of folk pottery that we offer to the highest bidder without reserve. Good luck!

It measures approximately 10" tall, 24" wide around the middle and 6 1/2" wide across the bottom. Comes with the original cork firmly in place, though looks as though a part of it has been broken off. Also has a nice iron and wood handle in great condition. The iron has a bit of rust, but I find it adds to the rustic charm. There are no identifying markings on this piece, but there are a few things we can tell you about it. We purchased this and a few other earthenware pieces(see our ... moreother auctions! from an estate auction here in beautiful Western Massachusetts. This jug was a decoration on an expansive farm right off the Connecticut River. The family was very well traveled, with roots down the East Coast and into the Southern United States, and with history dating back to the Civil War! Overall this is a beautiful little jug and would make a nice addition to any country primitive home. This is a no reserve auction! Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Thanks for looking! Breyer’s Ice Cream Ruler Not Included) Feel free to ask a question. And bid with confidence! Fast shipping to New England and parts beyond. All items are professionally packaged. Hello. My name is Alexandra. Please do not be afraid of my low amount of sales. I have learned from my father who has sold over 800 items on E Bay with 100% Positive feedback. You can be assured of the same experience as the people who purchased from him. It is my intention to list some of the nicest, oddest, unusual collectible old items ever. I can say this because I already have possession of them and it is just a matter of listing them. I am willing to bet this will be your favorite site to visit. I believe that I have a good eye for old unusual collectibles. Please put me on your favorite list and check back once a week to see what I am listing. I am paying my own way through college and all ... morebids are greatly appreciated. Enough introduction, I hope you enjoy this journey and here's to you becoming my favorite customer. I may ship this auction USPS or Fed Ex depending on which gives a better rate. Here is a little background on this item. I bought it first thing in the morning from a man who was selling at a flea market for the first time in southern Wisconsin. He was from Illinois. I bought several items from him and had to go back to my vehicle to get enough money to pay for everything. In the 10 minutes I was gone he had a lady who picked it up off the ground from my pile he was holding and she refused to set it down. She said it still had the price on it and therefore it was now hers. He said it was already sold and she called him"RUDE" among other things and stormed off. The jug was not priced cheap. But I really liked the look and the fact that it is so big. This made me feel that it was a wise investment that someone would get that upset over it. It holds 5 gallons and weighs over 23 pounds empty. Imagine what it weighs when full. It stands 19 1/2 inches tall. Please refer to pictures for actual condition. It would be difficult to describe each a
Antique Glazed Primitive Brown Pottery Jug Dtd July 6, 1894, United States
This unusual brown pottery jug was found in my parents' estate. It is unknown what its original use was for(syrup. Liquor perhaps) but it only has one opening on the top where its contents can be poured. Stamped on the top are the words"Patent July 6th 1894" When you shake it, there is a rattling sound which may be the stopper inside. It has a few dings on the bottom in the glaze but otherwise is in perfect shape. There is a swirling mark lighter in the glaze on one side that looks like an"m" The jug is 9 3/4" tall and 7 1/2" from spout to handle.

Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Pottery Jug Crock 1 Gallon 1800s Primitive Whiskey
Antique Jug This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique stoneware jug or crock that has a really nice salt glaze finish. The jug is rather narrow and it’s a very early model. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Great piece and guaranteed old! I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents- sorry. It's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules: If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously.
