I really don't know anything about this beautiful piece of pottery. It measures about 9 inches tall and 16 inches around at the widest point. It appears to be quite old and has Poland stamped on the bottom. There no cracks or chips just a few imperfections in the piece. Has a small chip on the bottom rim that can only be seen when upside down. The interior is quite clean. I saw a tiny bit of crazing here and there. Antique Liverpool English creamware pottery jug or pitcher in good condition. The jug commemorates a naval battle during the War of 1812 which occurred on October 18th. 1812 during which the English sloop of war Frolic was captured by the American sloop of war Wasp. The front of the jug features black printed designs of the naval battle on the front with the caption: The American Sloop of War Wasp Captures the English Sloop of War Frolic Oct. 18, 1812. The other side of the pitcher has a black printed design entitled Arms of the United States, featuring the American Eagle and underneath the caption Under this we Prosper. Underneath the spout is another black design called Liberty. Please refer to all photos uploaded to Ebay. The jug is just over 6 Inches tall and is 7 ¾ inches wide measuring across from the tip of the spout to the handle ... moreedge. Condition is quite good overall with expected crazing to the clear glaze over the entire jug. And two observable hairline cracks. The first hairline crack is near the upper rim next to the handle. The hairline crack is about one inch long and is shown in my photos. The second hairline crack is inside the pitcher and I was not able to get a good photograph of it. It does not penetrate to the outside of the jug, and is about 1 ½ inches long in a Y shape. There is a tiny black spot near the tip of the spout. The bottom rim shows expected roughness or moderate wear from the passage of years. The base of the pitcher is 3 ¾ Inches across. The base of the pitcher in my photo has somewhat of a tan shadow but that is due to my photo, it is not shadowed or stained, it is a relatively even creamy color, I am not a trained photographer and don't understand why it showed up with this shadow, perhaps the lighting was not even. This antique jug is approximately two hundred years old and would make a lovely display for collectors interested in naval history or in antique British ceramics. Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware JUG Pitcher Classical Bas-Relief on Brown We are selling some items from the collection of some old friends who are facing health issues and need to downsize. Take a look at this jug or pitcher. It has classical style bas-relief figures with angels and cupids/ cherubs with a ram! The background glaze is dark brown. There are no marks other than either a 6 or 9 on the bottom. Size is about 6" tall and 10" across from handle to spout. There is a book on Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware that can come along that they had marked as supporting their identification of this jug as being Herculaneum. It has a jug very similar and it too was unmarked and the book refers to another piece that was marked that has very similar elements(esp. across the bottom band) It is believed to be circa 1810 and ... moreis a beautiful piece. They had been told that it was"museum" quality. I assume that the term"jasperware" would be correct in describing this kind of stoneware or pottery that has bas-relief classical style scenes. I am not an expert in these things but I would be remiss if I did not say that I don't see how this jug can be that old! It is immaculate(other than some darkening of the lower part of the bas-relief figures) I would think that it would have some signs of age. I can't find any information online as to whether there are reproductions. I have great faith in the ebay community to weigh in and tell me what they think about its origin. Antique Yelloware copper luster pottery stone ware milk Jug pitcher
I believe this is old copper luster yelloware. Has a signature on base that I think reads'Elaine T' Has a small chip on rim, no other cracks, chips or crazing. Has slight rub marks on copper trim on rim. Measures 4 3/4" tall by 5" wide at base. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Save on combined shipping. Insurance will be added to the cost of shipping if necessary.

Wonderful Antique French Creil et Montereau Pottery Monk-Shaped Jug. The bulbous jug has a nicely detailed form in original colors. The face has exceptional definition with its toothy smile. The monk has gray hair. And wears a black hat. The robe is a tan color with a dark brown tie. The monk's nails are a slightly darker color. The white handle has a nice curved shape- and a flared form at the bottom part- trimmed with a blue color. The interior is a glossy white color. This is a true beauty of a crock made in Alabama we believe- old estate find- this is an authentic handmade original- this is a large pottery crock jug with one handle and a clay lid which covers a 2 1/2" opening in top- the top has old wax paper between the crock and the lid- It is a beauty- measures about 22" high and around the middle it's a little over 40" around.
