I see only pencil eraser sized brown discolor drip on side under handle Picture Three. All else is smooth even color with NO staining and a nice clean Albany glazed brown slip coated interior. No cracks, hairlines, no rim chips, no stone pings, the clay was finely milled during manufacture and it really is evident is final quality of output from the Warner factory in upstate New York, near king in stoneware productions of all the states for fancy works as well as early forms for collectors. Here is a vintage/antique advertising jug or cruet. Quart-size, made by Weir Pottery for Armour& Company of Chicago in the early 1900's. There appears to be no after-manufacture damage, but there is a large drip in the glaze and a scratch which appears on inspection to be underneath the glaze, since one cannot feel it. There are also a number of pin-prick imperfections in the glaze, which is almost expected in these antique items. The inside is clean. It stands about 8 inches tall and is about 5 inches in diameter. Here isha a very nice old RARE& HARD TO FIND example of a WHEELING WEST VIRGINIA MERCHANTS COBALT DECORATED JUG.The"W" is missing but it has been determined that it dates too late to be a VIRGINIA JUG; The jug measures 2 gallons with five blue lateral lines that accent the script. M REILLY- 1309&1311 MAIN STREET- WHEELING VA The jug is tall measuring 14 inches in height with a boulbous almost ovoid shape. TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE PHOTOS. There are spider hairlines. Mostly to the left of the script. There is a neat tobacco spit mark about 4 inches from the top as well. The bottom also has hairlines. I think they are all freeze lines It is solid, in that it is all together but it does not have a good ring like it should have. These problems do not, in my opinion, overshadow the fact that it is RARE AS CAN BE. Where are you ... moregoing to find one? Buyer pays $20 domestic shipping and handling. Up for auction is a nice. Large antique German( Mettlach? beer stein with intricate enamel polychrome design: figures and pattern. The stein is 13 3/4" high and 6" wide across the bottom. Masterfully sculptured pewter lid, which has a personal inscription in German in old Gothic letters. According to this inscription this stein was a gift to the head of the carpenter's guild of the German town Koesen(Sachsen-Anhalt) to celebrate his 25th anniversary of becoming a master craftsman. This is a Large Jug that weighs 9.6 pounds and measures 14" tall by 9" wide at the base. This jug has an Unusual Look to it. It appears that the jug was painted red at some point and that paint has mostly chipped or fallen away. I have not attempted to remove the red paint. Underneath the red paint exposes the lovely detailed artwork as well the beautiful look of this pottery piece. This item is in good condition with minimal wear present. VINTAGE Whiskey Jug Stoneware Pottery 2 1/2 Gallons Cork Crock Handle Saltware
Here is a Vintage Stoneware Whiskey/ Water Jug with a Handle and Cork. It belonged to my in-laws and has been in storage for a long time. If the whole jug is filled it is 2 1/2 Gallons(it has a small corn cob in it that had been used where the cork is) It measures 14 1/2" Tall. 9 3/4" in Width. It weighs almost 10 lbs. empty. I don't know if this is what is considered saltware as there are no markings that I can find. It is in good condition. There are some chips and a very small crack(it only appears to be in the glazing and does not go all the way through, please see pics) I will ship it as cheap as possible and it will include insurance. Large Antique 2 Gallon Pottery (?) Jug Lamp - Québec Stoneware (?)
For your consideration is an antique( pottery( stoneware jug. That at some point was convert to a lamp and painted red. Age and maker is unknown. Could this be Quebec Stoneware( Jug features a navy blue floral motif with a 2 on the front. Back of jug does have a handle with an inverted dent. This is a large. Heavy jug. Height, from top to bottom of jug, is about 13 1/2” high. Overall diameter is 8 3/4” Bottom diameter is 7 3/8” Condition is fair. Several chips around the outer diameter, some existing red paint, and would need to be rewire, if using for a lamp. Possibly, at one time, jug was salt glazed( but glaze was stripped when paint was removed. Please feel free to ask questions or request additional photographs. A really neat piece of history. This is a Very Large jug that weighs 15.8 Pounds. The jug measures 17 and 1/2" tall by 33 and 1/2" around at the fattest point with a mouth opening of 1 and 1/2" across. This jug has a two Tone Color scheme with the top section being brown while the bottom section has a stone pottery color. If you look closely at this jug it appears as if the bottom was originally a crock then had a handle added to it. Estate find. A 1/2 gallon pottery whiskey moonshine jug. This jug is in pretty good shape for its age. I do not see any cracks in this. There is normal vintage some normal wear,discoloration and overall"old" look. Measures approximately 9" tall and approximately 6" wide. with cork lid. Very nice collectible. I know very little about this item so please ask questions. there is 2 small splits on handle and one on lip of jug. to me they look like they have been there since it was made. In Fine Condition this 2 gallon Jug is offered for sale. This is a vintage 2 gallon stoneware whiskey jug made by Star Stoneware. Crooksville, Ohio, a company that was in business from 1892 to 1945. The jug measures 13 1/2" tall by 9" in diameter at the base. It is in Fine condition with no chips. Repairs or Flaws. The jug is marked with a blue star in a circle which is the Star Company logo. The number 2 indicates the capacity of the jug is 2 gallons. The dome shape top is a dark brown and the body is an ivory cream. The base has indications that it was Hand Spun on a Potters wheel. This unique pottery jug has several marking on it including a crown. The jug measures 11.5" tall and 3.5" in diameter at its base. Good condition. The jug has a hole on the back towards the lower part. See picture. It would make a wonderful decorative piece in any antique store, bar, or home display.
