Embossed on the bottom in all upper case lettering is the words: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO. RED WING(at least that is what I think it says; th mark was mostly erased during manufacturing) The top of the handle is above the spout. But only approximately 1/8 of an inch. A cork is in this jug. Very Rare Antique I think Red Wing Pottery Dome Top Hand Painted"Little Brown Jug" only it's not brown or Little. The Handle looks to be applied. It has no cracks. Or repairs. It does hae a few chips at the mouth of the jug. on the back base& bottom pictured. And, the paint on the flower is crackling and delicate(must be handled with care) also pictured. I think this jug is ca. 1890s- 1940s give or take, but I'm not 100% sure? The shoulder of the vessel is domed. The jug's 7 1/2" tall again I think it's a one gallon jug. The oval is 1 11/16" wide; the writing in this oval says: RED WING UNION STONEWARE CO. RED WING MINN; stoneware with this oval in combination with a two inch wing was only produced from 1933 to 1936. This jug has a total height of almost 15" from the surface it is sitting on, to the shoulder this jug, is almost 9 7/8" The bottom is approximately 9 7/8" in diameter. This jug has glaze skips and other manufacturing imperfections. A previous owner glued a cork into this jug; this cork has been removed, but remnants of it still remain. On the bottom are two chips; when the jug is sat upright, the larger is totally invisible. Great primitive jug with hand applied handle. Reddish brown glaze. Has a bumpy texture. Maybe orange peel or salt glaze finish. Check out the pictures for the two little kiln flaws on the handle. This company was founded in 1883 and existed until 1906, when it merged with Red Wing Stoneware and the merged company became known as Red Wing Union Stoneware Company. The glaze on this jug indicates it was manufactured after 1895; the bottom marking indicates it was manufactured before the merger happened in 1906. This stoneware jug has a total height of approximately 13 3/8" from the surface it is setting on, to the shoulder is approximately 8 7/8" and the bottom is approximately 8 7/8" in diameter. For your consideration is a one gallon. Common style jug, made by Minnesota Stoneware Co. of Red Wing, Minnesota. This company existed from 1883 to 1906; in 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Company to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Company. The embossed writing on the bottom is 1/2 of an inch tall and says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING; however due to sloppiness during manufacturing, some of this writing is indecipherable. The handle was attached by hand and was attached at an angle; this and other manufacturing defects make this jug unique. This jug was touching another piece of stoneware during firing and when the two pieces were separated, the other piece got off with some of this jug's glaze from the handle and side. 1gallon tan stoneware jug. Almost mint condition with one very small flake on base and the same on the shoulder rim in the back. Embossed"Home Made Wine/ Guaranteed Pure/ Geo. Klehm/ Arlington Heights. Ill. A very nice jug in about mint condition with the two minor flaws noted. No other chips, cracks or wear. See some natural separation in the handle underneath. This is a really nice 1 gallon shoulder/ whiskey/ cider jug with cork. Marked on the bottom Red Wing Stoneware Co. This company was from Red Wing, Minnesota. The condition is very good– no cracks, no later years chips, on the shoulder edge there is a flaw that is glazed over, probably from manufacturing. There are 2 glaze pops and a couple rough spots. Having lived in Northern Michigan, I've seen quite a few Red Wing jugs& crocks– the condition of this one is a lot better than many I have seen. Vintage stoneware advertising jug. Says Hazel Pure Food Co. Chicago-New York. I think this is made by Red Wing. But I'm not certain. There is no makers mark anywhere, and the research info. out there is very skimpy. Measures 10 1/2" high. 7 1/4" diameter. Single handle at the top. 1" diameter at the top. Weighs 6 lbs. 11 oz. Holds 1 gal, or a bit more to the very top. Overall very good condition. No major cracks that I can find. There are a few minor chip. And some crazing, but it is watertight, nothing leaked out when I filled it.

Antique English Handpainted Embossed Enamel Gold Red Clay Pottery Syrup Jug&Lid For Your Consideration Glossy green enamel glaze over redware clay with heavy gold gilt. Embossed flowers with white and turquoise dots finish off the motif. Impress marked England with a stamped#386. The lid is also impressed marked- can't read the first word. The second looks like'patent' The end of the lever has a blunt cut- not sure if this was intended or a bit has broken off. It still lifts the lid about an inch when the white button is pushed or goes all the way back if you press harder. Stands 6 5/8" tall x 7" wide including the handle. Large 19th century red earthenware toby jug. With shiny multi color drip glaze. This old toby pitcher is hand molded and probably one of a kind. It stands 10 1/2 inches(26.7 cm) tall. There is no maker's mark. The interior sides are also glazed. There is overall crazing, some small glaze dings, and a large shallow glaze chip on the base back side(see pictures) We think this wonderful piece has English origins and dates to the 19th century, but could be older. This is a nice. Bottom marked Red Wing(Minnesota Stoneware Co. wide mouth whisky jug in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips, just a few light scratches and scuffs on the glaze that are almost invisible. It holds a little over a gallon and measures 8" H x about 8" W with a 2 3/4" mouth. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Here is a terrific old Red Wing Kansas City Advertising Jug. It is one gallon capacity and approximately 8 1/2" tall and 7" inches wide. It is not marked. But I am confident that it was made in Red Wing(per the glaze, shape and clay color) The stamped label is very clear and bold. The factory flaws have been described in the previous"condition section" There doesn't appear to be any after manufacture damage. The pictures provide a very good representation of this item.
