There appears to be no after-manufacture damage, but there is a large drip in the glaze and a scratch which appears on inspection to be underneath the glaze, since one cannot feel it. This is a pretty jug. It's another from our Dad's collection which he started around 1960. The handle is broken off but otherwise it's in great condition. Antique Beehive 8” Tall Stoneware Jug
This small handled jug(half gallon. Possibly) is in very good condition. It has a semi-glossy glaze that covers the side and 1” into the lip interior. Besides minor scuffing, its only from-use blemish is a crack on the lip. During manufacturing, some glaze has dripped to the bare ring at the bottom of the jug. The provenance of the jug cannot be determined as it has no markings. It has a handmade quality in the irregularity of the cylinder and glaze drips along base. And approx. 3 1/2" wide, 6" from the front to the end of the handle. This jug has beautiful multi-color drip glaze. The interior sides are also glazed. He has a frothy mug on his left knee which he holds with both hands. He has an angry look on his face! There is no makers mark on the bottom. Up for Auction is an Antique Brown Ceramic Jug with a Unique Glazing Style.8 Inches Tall The jug glazing is rather unique. As you can see in the photos. T here's a band of no glazing around the top of the jug. Also. The glazing doesn't cover the jug completely. These unglazed areas might be mistaken for damaged areas, such as the mouth of the jug. It looks as though it's chipped, but there's just no glaze on it. You see that"style" all over the jug surface. There are a few minor chips on the jug. One is in the band where there is no glazing, it's about 1/4" wide. The other few chips are tiny. And are on the rim of the base, the largest being 1/8" I just noticed a tiny"ding" on the mouth of the jug. I will be listing a variety of nice estate-fresh Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is a nice LITTLE ANTIQUE 19THC OVOID STONEWARE JUG. It is 8" high. Looks to be approx. Mid-19thC vintage. But uncertain of precise age. Irregular shape with droopy top lip and indented on one side. Jug has two incised lines around the shoulder. I not believe the jug has any chips. There is a"patchy" area on the top of the handle, but upon close examination it looks to be probably a manufacture flaw, as it appears to have the original glaze over this area(see close-up for your own examination) A small dent spot on the front of the jug also looks to be a manufacture flaw. Large Toby Jug / Pitcher w/Handle, 8 1/4" Tall Bottom Marked with R in triangle
You are bidding on a large Toby type Jug or Pitcher of a guy that is not very good looking-ugly facial expression. He is holding what appears to be a pitcher in one hand and a glass in the other and is sitting in a high back chair. It is in good condition with the exception of a couple of places where they missed the glazing during the manufacture-does not detract from the item-in fact I hardly noticed them. It is 8 1/4" high. Colors are predominately browns. Tans and greens. Bottom is marked with an R within a triangle or diamond shape and a"quarter moon" next to that mark. Never seen one like this before. It looks like it has some age to it and there is a lot of crazing. I don't know if it originally contained shave lotion or not. The inside of the jug looks like it is glazed and is a brown color. There is one chip on the bottom of the jug near the edge(please see photo) it looks like it is an old chip to me. It looks like ... morethere is a small chip on the top of the opening of the jug but the brown color and glaze cover this chip so I think the chip may have happened when this jug was originally being made. This jug had a piece of the old cork inside when I purchased it(it came from an Estate Sale) I was able to turn the jug over and get the cork out. The cork will be included but it is very brittle and falling apart. There is crazing on the jug and it looks like it could use a good cleaning. Other than that. Antique 8 1/2" Stoneware "Coffee Boiler" Jug-Wire & Wood Handle-Beige Glazed
Offered is this vintage or antique beige glazed stoneware"coffee boiler" jug with spout and wire and wood handle. There is a three-leaf design on each side where the wire handle is connected to the jug and a small semi-circular handle in the stoneware near the base to help hold the jug when pouring. I don't know if there was a lid originally. The piece sits about 8 1/2" high with the handle down. About 11" high with the handle up. The top opening is approx. 4" in diameter and the piece is approx. 5 3/4" across on the bottom. It is in good condition. But there are numerous chips, the biggest of which is the one on the top of one of the leaf designs where the wire handle attaches(see photos#2& 3) There is also a thin surface crack on one side of the spout where it attaches to the body of the jug(see photo#3) ... moreI think this is a fairly uncommon piece(at least I have never seen one like it) and despite its flaws should be a desirable item for the jug and crock collector. As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. Scarce old black jug made by using black iron oxide. The photos. Taken outdoors, don't really show that this is a true black. This stands just under 9" tall and is approx. 6" across at it's widest point. This has a great sparkle from the salt glaze. It just wouldn't photograph. No chips or cracks. The spots in the photos are firing flaws. There is two scrapes. About 1" and 2" long on one side, that occurred before firing. There are glaze drips towards the bottom. All that being said, this is in great shape, with typical firing issues. Please email any questions.

I am thinking this has to be English creamware. Although I have not found him anywhere. Nothing like him. Sure has a good and special look to him, with the detail to his face and beard. He is unmarked. He could be 18th century. I know some collector of toby's will know. Santa is holding a sack over each shoulder. It looks like there is a cork stuck inside the jug along with some small pieces of paper/foil. I don't see any chips or cracks and I can see a little bit of crazing near the bottom. The lower part of the jug looks ... morelike a tan color and the upper area is a dark brown color. The tan color looks like it has some swirls of lighter tan colors. I lightly cleaned the jug with a little bit of water on a cloth. It does look like it could use a good cleaning. There is a little bit of a pink color on the section between the brown and tan colored areas; I don't know if it is a stain or not. This little Whiskey Jug will make a nice display piece! This is a Very Large jug that weighs 15.8 Pounds. The jug measures 17 and 1/2" tall by 33 and 1/2" around at the fattest point with a mouth opening of 1 and 1/2" across. This jug has a two Tone Color scheme with the top section being brown while the bottom section has a stone pottery color. If you look closely at this jug it appears as if the bottom was originally a crock then had a handle added to it. Vintage Or Antique 8" Glazed Stoneware Jug With Round Top-Grayish-Beige-1/2 Gal?
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug with a round top. I describe the color as a sort of grayish-beige. But the color varies a bit on different parts of the jug. It stands about 8" high and is approx. 5 1/2" across on the bottom. It has a cork in so I could not measure the capacity without removing and probably damaging the cork. But I would guess 1/2 gallon or maybe 2 1/2 or 3 quarts? The jug is in very good condition. I see no cracks. But there are a couple of chips at the top on the"neck" see last photo) a thin shallow line across the top that is not a crack but what looks like a mark made when it was manufactured and a small blob of white paint that may be able to be removed with careful attention As you might expect. Vintage Brown Glazed Whiskey Jug/Crock Beehive w/Cork& Handle 8" tall by 6 1/2" diam. The jug has a hand painted swirl glaze rubbed look to it. The cork is broke off in the flared rim spout. This is a perfect over the shoulder whiskey jug/crock. There is some discoloration in the glaze on the handle like the bottom. Very nice jug great for collector or to make that extra pop in your décor! I find no chips or cracks in this jug/crock.
