Early 3rd-5th century AD Judaea-Palestine Terracotta oil lamp from the Holy Land. Measurements: Length: 10 cm- Width: 6 cm- Height: 3 cm This large'slipper-type' oil lamp is detailed with raised linear and pellet patterns. With small rectangular handle. Very fine condition. Complete with no repairs. Slipper lamps are oval shaped and found mainly in the Levant. They were produced between the 3rd to 9th centuries CE. Decorations include vine scrolls. Palm wreaths, and Greek letters. The upper and lower parts were molded separately and then joined together by hand. Archaeologists divide slipper-lamps into two groups: small and large.
