This Globe Wernicke antique metal cabinet is simply breath-taking. Along with its army green color and stunning gold colored details. This cabinet is host to a beautiful patina that can only be earned over time. Besides the normal nicks and dings acquired over time, I have included a picture of the left back corner, which has a dent. The cabinet is broken down into 4 parts; the top lid. Up for sale is this older restoration of a 3 piece Globe Wernicke stacking bookcase. Very unusual to find one with the top gallery piece like this one has. Overall size is 36" wide by 53" high and 12" deep. Two units have doors that are 11 1/2" high and one unit that is 13 1/2" high(this unit shown on top has a crack across the back. Not noticeable at all once you have items inside. Note the bottom drawer, I failed to get a photo of it pulled out; it's a great feature for holding small odds and ends. This is a great looking set! Very nice pair of Globe-Wernicke file boxes from Cincinati. Ohio. They are solid oak; very heavy! Measures 16x 7.25 x5.5" Holds 3 x 5 cards. The spring back card holders work fine; one of the handles on the front is a little marred; maybe melted celluloid plastic? These are circa 1900 and are great accent pieces for an office. Light sratches; also an old wax mark as to who they were sold to long ago. The name can probably be rubbed out. The paper labels are clean and visible when you take the drawers out. They read: Finish Number 3815 1/2 Light Oak; Catalog Number WG-13516. The drawers measure 13 by 12, and the bottom section cabinet doors are 19 inches wide and 22 inches high. This file cabinet is in outstanding condition with desireable paneled sides. 4 parts comprised of a seperate top cap, one section that has 3 filing drwaers, the next section for storage and a seperate base. I could not find a name but it looks to be a globe wernicke piece or Yawman and Erbe. Very useful quality mission oak file cabinet. Came from an estate sale from Rochester NY. I have spent a great deal of time in getting these produced. They are exacting ... morein their dimensions to the originals. They work perfectly with the recessing in the factory door hinges. These materials are far superior to the original production materials used by Globe Wernicke. These steel shoulder screw assemblies are high grade stainless steel and the bushings are oil impregnated bronze(therefore self lubricating) The washers are stainless steel as well. Installed these look almost identical in color to the original production pieces unlike the other replacement bearing assemblies out there being offered today. These are far superior in terms of function over the original materials. The original materials would trap moisture between the steel bearing and steel shoulder on the screw and the steel bearing assemblies would then rust seizing up. This then forces the door surface to be dragged along the top of the bearing loosening the bearing attachment, damaging the wood on the door and slowing the progress of a door that should otherwise open with great ease. Globe Wernicke #299 Combination Unit Barrister Bookcase 12.25/10.25 4 Sections
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique barrister bookcase. This is made by the Globe Wernicke Company. This is model# 299 and there are two sections that are D 10 1/4 and two sections that are D 12 1/4' There is a sticker on the back wall of all of the sections. The assembled piece measures 63.25" high and has a width of 34" and a depth of 12" This is the standard style with plain glass doors made from quarter sawn oak. This still has the original felt at the tops in between the sections. There is one section that is missing a piece that is about 2.5-3" wide. It also has the original brass hardware. This came from a Fitchburg. MA estate and has been in the same family since the original purchase in the early 1900's. There are some age appropriate splotches in the finish and light age and use associated ... morescratches and dings. There are paint specks on the base and there is a small piece of wood missing from the front. There is a split on the side of the top section as seen in the picture. Therre is also a burn in the wood. One of the brackets has some light rust on it and three of the knobs are replacements. There are two screw holes in one panel that it appears someone had attached something to it. This is a previously owned item and is being sold as shown. This was part of Globe-Wernicke when they took over Weis bookcase company in 1964 then closed it in 1969-70 you got them for Larkin Soap Remittances coupons or Green Stamp books after 1950 when S&H got last lot from Weis.This ones made out of Imbuya wood(Embuya) a exotic Black Walnut from South America Very big about-6 wide 16 1/4 long unopenned 27 openned 6 tall openned 2 closed. Very Heavy over 3-5 1/2 pounds.This ones got it's label. Phoebe Porosa" is the wood's family name FYI.Got them in a carton at a estate sale& will be posting as I get though carton some are rare woods most are Oak and Ash but there is some rare woods like this one which looks like Black Walnut meets Rosewood IMHO.

This is a lot of 9 bookcase sections plus 3 tops and 3 mission style bases. 7 of the section s are Globe W ernicke and 2 are from Lycoming Furniture. They are identic al to Wernicke and fit perfectly. The finishes vary.there is walnut. Mahogon y. And I believe red oak. The pieces are solid and the glass is complete. All the doors slide easily. There is one door that needs to be h ooked back on in the pictures but it is compl ete. 2 doors are missing knobs e asily fou nd on Ebay. A ll of them need refinish ing.there are scratches. Marks. This is a VERY cool little industrial oak cabinet. I hate to let it go. But i have too much stuff! There are a few blemished as seen in the pictures but everything works fine. the drawers have solid bottoms, all of the pulls are there and match. The outside of the box is 10 x 10 x 16, interior of the drawers are 8.5 x 14. These would be great for paint brushes or dentel tool or whatever. Vtg Old Gulf Gas Station Globe Wernicke Metal File Storage Desk Top Box Cabinet!
Vintage Globe and WERNICKE or Globe W Metal Small Desk Style File Cabinet. You could also use as a receipe box or storage box and do not have to use as a file storage because the bottom file compressor does come out. This box is in good vintage condition but not excellent or mint. There is a few scratches to the outside finish on the box and one long scratch or discoloration. It does come with a new unopened number files still in the package. You can see all of this in our pictures. This box came out of an old Gulf Gas Oil Distribution Center that we bought out recently. It was full of vintage gas and oil collectibles from the 40s-80s. Unfortunately this box is not marked with the Gulf logo.
