Antique Gothic Revival Cast Iron Fireplace Insert Great Detail - Faces - 1800's
Up for auction is an wonderful antique cast iron Gothic Revival fireplace insert from the 1800's. Fireplace insert came from a house located in one of many historic areas in the Cincinnati. OH area. Fireplace front measures approx 30 1/2" x 24 3/4" Rear insert sections measures approx 27 1/2" x 21" Fireplace is in very good condition showing the expected signs of wear for an item of its age. Cast iron was lightly cleaned and the asbestos was removed from the interior and properly disposed of. Five of the screws/bolts holding the front cast iron sections are not original to the piece. Please view and zoom in on all photos to evaluate condition.

This old 1800's grate was my grandmothers. Who was born in the 1800's and married in 1901. She used this to burn both wood and coal to heat her home. It measures 24"wide X 11" deep X 12 1/2" high. It is in very good condition for a used antique item of this age. It has No broken or missing pieces. I have not found the first bit of damage to it anywhere. It does have some surface rust, especially in the back. The front has little squares across both the top and bottom rim of the box with an ornate floral design down both sides in the front. It has been painted with a light green(sort of sage color) oil based enamel that has partially worn off. It is marked on both sides L for Left and R for Right and the number 24 is on the inside front panel.On the bottom it is marked 24P. This gorgeous Victorian style fireplace surround was acquired many years ago by my folks. They found it while antique hunting or it possibly came from an old home that was torn down in Old Town Alexandria. It probably dates to the 1800's. It has actually been installed in my parents home to cover a fireplace opening and vent a wood stove through it- hence the 6" opening in the insert(which could be covered with something ornate for decorative purposes) We recently removed the wood stove and are now offering this beautiful surround for auction. There are no cracks or splits. Some minor rust in nooks and crannies. There are several small holes(four corners and on insert) which it was mounted through. They could be filled with stove cement. Victorian Antique Cast Iron Oval Fireplace Fire Place Mantle Surround Insert
Out of an old 1890s Southern Victorian home about to be demolished this wonderful old cast iron surround was rescued. This surround has been stripped of many layers of stubborn and brittle paint. Measuring 27 1/2" Tall x 25" Wide or across the front. The inside dimension is 24 1/2" Tall x 18 1/2" Wide. After cleaning it turned put great. There is a small break at the bottom of the tight inside bottom hard to see but does not affect the surround in any way. Please take a look.

Please scroll down under this description for additional views. An interesting and rather masculine antique cast iron fireplace cover. These are referred to as"summer covers" for obvious reasons and had practical and aesthetic purposes. The measurements on this one are 20" wide and 19 1/2" tall with a slightly bowed out top edge. Cast onto the back is"503" and"20" the style number and height. The iron has been cast to have a hammered surface with hammered metal"strapping" and a pair of separately cast stirrup-shaped pulls dangling at each end. The front is painted black and even after a good cleaning is still sooty enough to look gray. There is a small drilled hole near the intersection of the strapping- they are original and might have been placed there for small iron knobs. Those are obviously ... moremissing. There's a lot of surface rust on the back but a lot of that will come off with a wire brush. You can make this quite dramatic with some paint- the raised sections can be painted to look like bronze against a contrasting background. We washed the cover down outside for the first photograph to bring out the details it shows what it could look like with a good sand blasting or wire brushing it and a coat of paint. After they dried out we photographed them again to show what you will be receiving in their current state.Or you might want to leave them as they are. Steampunk 1900s CAST IRON GAS FIREPLACE INSERT REZNOR Orthoray Rare Antique Vtg
Steampunk: The gas line could be used for the electrical line coming into the device and two brass balls could be removed and pipes could be connected to those square tubes to form the base for a double-sided steampunk lamp. The weight of the entire device would be sufficient to hold a nice size light fixture. Height about 24 inches. Width about 22 inches. Depth about 12 inches. The cast iron appears to be in good shape. One of the finials on the left side- the brass ball- is cracked. The old ceramic inserts in the fireplace are not perfect. One is cracked in two and one does not appear to be the same as the others. We do not know if the inserts are original. But that should not detract from the beauty of this very old and interesting piece. Inserts are easily replaced. Description This is a beautiful antique cast iron fireplace insert that was salvaged from a Victorian Brownstone in Brooklyn. NY. It is all cast iron and is painted white. The perimeter has open cast"fretwork" and the center has brick or tile looking cast iron. There is ornate trim around the gas logs. It is VERY heavy. It measures 30.75 inches wide by 31 inches tall and is approx. 6.5 inches deep overall. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Up for sale here is a Cast iron fireplace mantle trim insert.This is a beauty. This Insert came off of a 1920's Arts and Crafts Mantle. This insert is in fantastic condition with just a very small place with some minor surface rust only.There are no breaks. Bends, or other obvious defects that I can find. It comes complete with the log holder and original hookups for it. There are lots of very ornate deigns and decorations all over and even on the log holder itself. I did NOT even attempt to clean it or even apply any solvents to it. Only a wipe off with a damp cloth. The measurements are 27" wide x 31" tall x 3" thick. Thank you for taking a look!
