This old 1800's grate was my grandmothers. Who was born in the 1800's and married in 1901. She used this to burn both wood and coal to heat her home. It measures 24"wide X 11" deep X 12 1/2" high. It is in very good condition for a used antique item of this age. It has No broken or missing pieces. I have not found the first bit of damage to it anywhere. It does have some surface rust, especially in the back. The front has little squares across both the top and bottom rim of the box with an ornate floral design down both sides in the front. It has been painted with a light green(sort of sage color) oil based enamel that has partially worn off. It is marked on both sides L for Left and R for Right and the number 24 is on the inside front panel.On the bottom it is marked 24P. The bottom grate has a swinging centerpiece ... moreto let the ashes fall to the floor and it is also completely removable. It is very heavy weighing approx. 40-45lbs. Here is a Antique Cast Iron fireplace insert in very good condition for its age. I just purchased this from an estate sale and the owner said its been in the house since he can remember and he was about 50 years old. The piece has numbers on it in the back 1505-18-20 the swivel grate is numbered No.2 230. I can find no other markings. The grate measures 20 inches wide. 18 inches high and 12 inches front to back. The condition is very good no damage I could find just some surface corrosion from use and age. The grate looks like it could come apart with a turn of a heavy screw driver but that looks like it could be an issue from age I don't think they will turn without major cleaning and oiling. I will be shipping this in one piece and wrap the swivel grate separately. GOOD LUCK!

This is a stunning antique hand wrought iron Gothic fireplace fender. It is very large and made from solid iron. Completely made by hand and extremely heavy. It has a wonderful patina from age. It is from early 1900's and is beautifully footed with large circular feet. the fencing is swirled iron with ball top finials. the corner bars are the largest and tallest parts which have ribbed balls and large finials. there are two center pieces which have two thick iron circular pieces. May have had three at one point but not sure. it measures 43 1/4 inches long by 12 3/4 inches back to front 9 1/4 inches tall. there is a crack in one of the top bars. Designed by Thomas Jeckyll(English. 1827-1881) Made by Barnard, Bishop& Barnards, Norfolk Iron Works c1875(UK) Thomas Jeckyll is the architect of the famous"Peacock Room" which is installed at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington DC until December 2015. It features a swiveling bottom grate and decorative lion's paw front pieces. The previous owner had it inside a Thomas Jeckyll"Cast Moth Signature" fireplace surround that was covered by a marble mantle via a recent remodel. He did not want to dismantle the marble work to reclaim the rest of the surround and was only selling the basket. The only flaw is a flat spot worn on one of the back wheels. This Is a very old Antique Vintage Electric Fireplace Insert(Victorian? I believe it is Cast Iron construction. not sure if it is brass/copper plated but does have a goldish color on metal in spots. I did not clean it. I just dusted it off and wiped it down with mild cleaner. There is a switch on the side of this piece to turn this on. There is a wire top over the(2) red bulbs that hold the Amber Glass placed on top of metal to give the appearance of embers. The one light socket has a heat activated spinning vane that makes the embers(glass) looks like they are burning. This piece is very, very heavy. Dimensions are approximately 22 ¼” wide at the front. 19 ½” wide at the back, 16” tall at back, 12” tall at front, depth at legs is 11 1/4” and grate is 14 ½” deep. It weighs a little over 45 pounds. The only imperfection is on the back right corner where several of the uprights are slightly separated from the bottom rail. It is still very strong and can be picked up by the top. The imperfection can hardly be noticed from the front. The indicated shipping price is only for the lower 48 contiguous states of the US.
