Antique Sargent Entry Lock Set, Cast Bronze c.1885
Item description Antique Sargent cast bronze entry door lock set c.1885. This is an excellent example of one of Sargent's more popular entry lock designs. The knobs are a more difficult to find entry sized set and show below average wear. All of the pieces are beautifully finished cast bronze. The lower key hole of the large plate has been opened up a bit. But is otherwise a very fine piece. The face plate of the mortise lock as some light rub marks, but they are not particularly noticable. The mortise lock and solid brass strike plate are reversible and will work with both left and right hand doors. The push buttons on the lock face plate lock/unlock the door knobs without using a key. However, you do need the included latchbolt key to open the lock when this feature is utilized. The deadbolt is operated from inside or out with the deadbolt ... morekey, also included with the set. As pictured, the lock is set up for a right hand swing door. If you need it changed, let me know and I'll take care of it for you. This is a complete set, ready to install. The set includes one cast bronze faced reversible entry mortise lock. One cast bronze entry and standard size knob, one entry door plate, round knob escutcheon, single keyhole cover, a solid brass strike plate and a working original deadbolt& latchbolt keys. Antique Colonial Cast Bronze Exterior Entry Door Set Lockset Knob Plate Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Colonial Style Cast Bronze Entry Door Set Lockset. Elegant. Original, antique, exterior door lockset salvaged from Southeastern PA. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 1 large bronze escutcheon with swinging keyhole cover, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 working key, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, cast bronze. At the point of salvage all parts were dirty. Partially painted, and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. You could tell that the hardware came from a well-maintained home because the set is in great shape! The parts have nicks and scratches. Which are typical for hardware this old, but no breaks, ... morecracks, gouges, or chips. The lock was opened. Inspected, and WD-40 was sprayed on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. A key was made especially for this lock, and we could make more for $6/key—let us know if you are interested. After the auction. Someone removed the buttons from the lock faceplate. The buttons controlled a function. Which disabled/enabled the knobs to turn. With the knobs unable to turn, the upper latch remains extended, in the locked position. In essence, both latches would act as deadbolts and provide extra security. Once the knobs are frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole. I'm certain that whoever removed the buttons, didn't have the key for the top keyhole and he/she had to force the door open in order to push the button, to enable the knobs to turn. If this were my set, I would remove the buttons as well, and this is not only because I'm a parent of a young child who couldn't help himself from playing with the buttons; but accidents do happen. Item description Antique Corbin"Brocade" pattern cast bronze entry door lock set c.1880's. This is the finest lock of this type and pattern I have ever listed. This lock is for a right hand swing door only and is not reversible. This is a superior quality lock set featuring Corbin's long lived and very successful"Brocade" pattern. This pattern exists in a number of variations and was used on a wide variety of hardware items. This set features the much less common lattice pattern. All of the pieces are beautifully finished cast bronze. With a copper background finish and have well below average wear. The drum style knobs include the more desirable oversized entry knob. Both knobs have aged beautifully and show little wear to the front/back, but they do have slightly indented backs and a few small dings around the ... moresides, but they do not diminish from their appearance. Both knobs are beautifully aged with coloring that resembles burled walnut. This is a true complete, original set, ready to install. The set includes a number of rare pieces. Antique Barrow's "Linde" Pattern Cast Bronze Entry Lock Set c.1885
Item description Antique Barrows Lock Co. Linde" pattern entry door lock set. C.1885. This very successful design originated with Linde, but several other makers also produced the pattern. This is a very unusual lock form with the latchbolt key located above the centrally placed knob spindle. It functions just as the standard entry lock does, its just layed out differently. The designs are typical of the 1880's, including stylized flowers, shingles and geometric designs. All of the pieces are beautifully finished bronze castings in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. The large door plate has some small dings along the sides of the upper portion, but it will be harder to see once installed. The lock's internal components are in great shape and the lock is fully functional. The switch on the lock face locks the latchbolt ... moreallowing you to secure the door without having to use a key. But, in order to open the door, you need the included latchbolt key or the optional fixed night key that I do not have. Typically the deadbolt is used to secure the door and the correct key for that is also included. The deadbolt has some wear at the bottom, but works just as it should with no binding at all. The boxed strike plate and the lock are reversible, so the set will work with both right and left hand swing doors. The set includes one bronze faced reversible mortise lock. Two pattern matched knobs, one matching large door plate, round knob escutcheon, keyhole cover, a plain bronze boxed strike plate and working latchbolt and deadbolt keys. Also included is a reconditioned knob spindle with two new set screws. The set screw holes have been deburred so the screws turn in easily. This is a very nice functioning lock set ready to be installed. The mortise lock's backset from the keyhole is 2 11/16" and the face plate is 6 1/2" tall x 1" wide. The lock box is 4 5/8" tall x 5/8" thick x 3 5/8" deep. The large door plate is 6 5/8" tall x 2" wide. The knobs are 2 1/4"

Penn Antique Restoration. Heavy Duty Arts& Crafts Entry Door Set Knobs Plates Lock*Please note that there are no mortise cylinders included with this set. Beautiful. Bold, entry set salvaged from Northeastern, NJ. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 1 large brass escutcheon, 1 brass rosette, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 brass anti-theft collar, 1 steel lock with brass faceplate, and 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass not stamped brass or brass-plated iron. Although there are no markings, judging by the design, I am pretty sure this set was made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT. Unlike most old-fashioned mortise locks. Which have rectangular deadbolts; this lock has cylindrical bolts with odd-shaped heads. When you turn the key, the bolts spin as they spring forth from the lock. The spinning ... morecauses the heads to turn in a corkscrew manner. Because of this feature, this will require a special strike plate with circular holes, not the typical rectangular holes. Unfortunately, we don't have any compatible plates, however, I don't think it would cost too much to have one made-less than $50 for sure. We do not have any mortise cylinders that will fully extend the latch. Our cylinders only push it out halfway. However. You can stop at any locksmith shop to buy one that will work for this lock. The knobs and escutcheons have a lovely design accentuated by a grainy texture on the faces of all the parts except for the lock. At the point of salvage. The set was found with many layers of paint and was heavily tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, cleaned, and polished the set to the best of our ability. All parts are in great condition with only a few signs of wear like nicks and scratches. Otherwise there are no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, or heavy scratches. The lock was opened, inspected, and we sprayed WD40 on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. This is not your typical vintage or antique set of hardware. I

One knob, one escutcheon, and the lock faceplate were nickel-played at some point, but some of the plating wore off. We didn't include a strike plate for the door jamb. Greek Revival style design with beautiful, bold egg and dart detail. At the point of salvage. The set was found with a lovely, original, patina which augments the beauty of the finely-casted details. The nickel-plated knob has subtle dent on the back. Which is only noticeable if you study the knob. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Greek Revival Iron Entry Door Set Pull Handle Lock. What a rare find! This grand. Exterior door lockset was made by"P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 iron pulls(2 large back plates, 2 thumb latches, 2 handles) 1 iron mortise lock, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 2 nuts, 2 washers, and 2 bolts to secure the pulls. All parts are solid, heavy, and thick cast iron, not stamped or pressed wrought iron. Originally, the pulls were copper plated, however, most of the plating wore off of one of the pulls and some of the plating wore off of the other, leaving the parts with a nice distressed look. Many times. Sets like this are used only to keep a door closed and to look pretty, so we didn't make a key for the lock. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 iron escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 brass-plated steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 1 setscrew and 1 securing pin to connect the knobs. All iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast iron, not flimsy wrought/stamped iron. Each set weighs almost 4 lbs! The sets were removed ... morefrom 2 doors that were salvaged from Northeastern Ohio. We found the sets very dirty(see last photo) Since then. We cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. Originally. All parts were painted with an enamel paint to prevent rusting. Since then, some of the paint wore off and rust started to form. If you prefer a distressed look, the rust is just what you're looking for. However, if you prefer a cleaner, uniform look, you could either paint the knobs and escutcheons, or rub the knobs and escutcheons with oil every couple of months. The parts of Set#2 have more rust than those of Set#1. All parts are in great shape with only the light nicks and scratches. That you would expect to find on hardware 100+ years old. There are no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. About the locks: The locks of both sets are reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. If you look at the last 2 photos. You will see that the locks originally had 2 latches. Prior to cleaning, we studied the locks to gain an understanding of their function in order to make a key for each. The set is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. The lock face plates and door pulls are beautifully finished in corresponding patterns typical of R&E at the time. This is a complete set and is designed for a double pocket door with flat stiles. The keyed lock works smoothly. The finger pulls extend properly and the locking bolt is in excellent working order. The key is adjustable to the doors thickness and works as it should. The receiver lock is one of the better designs with a spring loaded cover for the latch bolt opening. The receiver lock's face plate has some tool marks from an improper attempt to loosen the pull, but the unit has been restored to complete and proper function. ... moreThe primary lock's backset to the keyhole center is 2" and both face plates are 7 7/16" tall x 1 1/4" wide. The lock boxes are 5 1/2" tall x 11/16" thick x 3 1/2" deep. The door pulls are 5 1/4" x 2 3/4" at the widest point. The recessed part of the pull is 2 1/8" in diameter x 1/2" deep. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The lock was opened. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass rosettes, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass-plated steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and all 10 screws needed to install the set. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick cast brass, not stamped brass or plated steel. The brass parts were originally copper plated, but most of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. This is considered a privacy set because. Offered here is an antique. Metal(mostly cast iron) door knob and lock set. The set is complete and includes the small door knob, lever handle, back plates Escutcheon and the lock. The lock does not require a key as it is operated with a slide pin from the interior. This set is fro a small door. The knob measures 1 3/4" in diameter. The lock box measures 3 1/4" on the face with the box part that is inserted in the door measuring 2" square. It's a very old set, 19c I think and has paint remnants. The knob and lever handle turn easily. The sliding lock works but takes a harder push due to some rust. I removed most of the rust that is sh own in the photo with a light penetrating oil. Item description Antique Barrows Mfg. Co. Linde pattern passage door lock set. C. 1885. A very nice set, typical of the 1880's, including stylized flowers, shingles and geometric designs. This was a very successful design for the F.C. Linde company and was produced by other manufacturers, including Barrows. The pattern was very popular and exists on a wide variety of harware items. All of the pieces are beautifully finished bronze castings with below average wear. The lock is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. The last photo speaks to the condition of the lock's internal components. The mortise lock is slightly larger than the standard Linde or Barrows passage lock. The difficult to find pattern matched strike plate and the lock are reversible and will work with both right and left hand swing doors. As pictured, the lock ... moreis set up for a left hand swing, so if you need it changed let me know and I'll take of it for you. The set includes one bronze faced reversible mortise lock. Two patterned knobs, two matching round knob escutcheons, two matching single keyhole covers, strike plate and a working deadbolt key. This is an original matched set of a very popular Mallory Wheeler pattern with the less common drum type knobs. As with most Mallory Wheeler lock sets the casting and construction quality is very good. The pieces are cast bronze with a background pattern that mimics water washed sand. The set originally had a complete copper tinted finish. Some of which remains intact. The mortise lock and strike plate are reversible. Antique Sargent Vestibule Door Lock Set, Cast Bronze c.1881
Here is an incredible set of all cast bronze made by Sargent. The lock is a double key hole. The hinges weigh almost 1 3/4 pounds each and are 5 inches and with the finials are 8 inches. This set has everything. There are 6 hinges. 2 door knobs with interior and exterior plates, two of the latch locks for the top and bottom of the second door, all the original screws except for the two set screws for the knobs. One of the rods for the latch locks is missing. One of the finials on a hing is missing and I don't have the skeleton key for it. The first patent date is 1881 and the last is 1886. There is almost 15 pounds of antique hardware.

Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Cast Bronze Egg& Dart Entry Door Lockset. Wow. What a rare find! This gorgeous, antique, exterior door lockset was made by"Barrows Lock Co. of Chicago. IL around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 iron lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, 1 bronze cylinder mortise w/4 working keys, 1 spindle w/2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and 10 installation screws to fasten the lock and plates to the door. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not stamped(pressed) bronze or plated iron. The knobs and escutcheons have a fantastic. Egg& dart design, which is accentuated by a beautiful, rich, original patina. All of the dark greens are pure verdigris-not paint! We know that not everyone is a fan of patina, ... moreand if you prefer your hardware clean and shiny, although it would break our heart, we could clean and polish all parts prior to shipping for an additional $30-email us after the auction if you are interested. The set was salvaged from Northeastern Indiana. We found it in excellent condition with no breaks. Chips, cracks, gouges, or deep scratches. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the top button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the bottom button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The lock was opened inspected. Up for sale is this Wonderful Antique Russwin doorlock set. This appears to be complete without the screws or key. The lock measures 4-1/8X3-1/2X13/16 and the face plate measures 2X6 the egg shaped knob is about 2-1/2X1-3/4 these show minor signs of previous use. I didn't test the dead bolt lock because I don't have the key so this is being sold as is. This is fairly heavy so shipping will cost the buyer 10.00. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Tudor Style Iron Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Key Beautiful. Antique, exterior door lockset made by. McKinney Manufacturing Company, of Pittsburgh, PA around the middle the previous century. The set consists of 2 iron knobs; 2 escutcheons(1 has a thumbturn) 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate; 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb; the original"McKinney" mortise cylinder w/o key; a bronze. Corbin, mortise cylinder w/1 working key and bronze anti-theft collar; and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast iron, not flimsy, stamped(pressed) steel. Originally. All iron parts were painted with a black enamel paint, and surprisingly, most of the paint remained! The knobs and plates have a lovely. Hammered texture, and an elegant, Tudor style ... moredesign. Since we didn't want to remove any of the original. Black paint, we opted not to clean the set. However, we could try to clean it to achieve a uniform finish(no guarantee) for an additional $25-email us after the auction if you're interested. All parts are in great condition with only the typical small nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old. Used hardware. However, there are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. We are uncertain if the cylinders work.
