Mr. Jim Wright studied law and became Speaker of the House in 1986. In 1989 he was elected Mayor of our Weatherford Texas. I actually worked for him during the Vietnam War mailing out flyers for our service men. This desk is in great condition with original finish. It is solid and heavy and is on rollers. I had as much damage and wear and tear repaired by a professional restoration specialist as possible without doing a total restoration that would keep the desk from being in original condition. I'm going to scare you with all the flaws and repairs just to be as honest as possible. Perfect for the collector that wants their pieces to tell their history. One leg was professionally repaired with a life time guarantee. Someone had installed an after-market keyboard holder that the restorer removed and then repaired the damage. I tried to show a photo but he did such a great job I had a hard time finding the damage. There were tiny holes on the top that looks like someone had used the wrong size screws to reattach the top at one point. You can see the repair if looking for it. One drawer has a bottom that is damaged(pic shown) There are dark colored splatter-like stains on the desk in a few places. The top shows 50+ years of life with fading and stains. Even with all it's flaws and character. This is still a beautiful example of mid century design and craftsmanship. It would be a great piece to add to a collection if you aren't expecting perfection. Height to the top display shelf is 60 inches, total width measures 36 inches and depth at the base measures 18 1/2 inches and this fine desk weighs approximately 95 lbs. The top desk portion lift off the base portion(cabinet& drawers) allowing easier handling during moving and shipping. This desk offers a wonderful top display shelf with a carved rosette at the center of the gallery.there is an old repair to the right side carved shelf end which I have shown a close-up of in the pictures.repair seems solid and tight. The shelf is raised up by open carved scroll shelf supports flanking the sleek slender gallery on the desk top. The slant front desk offers a raised shaped panel of burl walnut at the center with its the lock intact on the desk but we do not have the key. Opening the desk reveals a large green felt writing surface with birdseye maple front storage drawers. From the Eastlake era, according ... moreto the big bold hardware on the doors and drawers. This desk dates from the 1890s to 1900s. It is smaller than usual with an unusual crest on top with floral leaf carving and a dome top molded edge. The double doors are highlighted with brass trim on the hinges and the doors open to reveal a fully adjustable shelf interior. The cylinder is all intact with no splits. The cylinder lid opens to reveal a pull-out writing surface with a red vinyl insert that I don’t believe is original, a simplistic cubbyhole interior and three drawers. It looks like someone made one or two of the drawers as they don’t match up exactly even though they fit and look similar.

This authenticated antique desk and chair has hand carvings throughout the entire desk even including the back. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The center disposal is the original period velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. Hand wood carvings include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk and removable cupid on the top that is attached to the lid that covers the compartment where the clock sits. The clock has 3 different hand ... moredesigns and incased in bronze. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. It does move side to side and I hear ticking but is in need of adjusting. The clock is original and fits perfect to view from a circular opening made for it within the desk. This all original desk is in very good condition without repairs. It is hard to believe there are only two tips missing from the delicate finials. Located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. It is very rare to find a set. How fortunate to have this elaborate matching chair with velvet padded seat in such wonderful condition. The carvings are amazing and please view the lion and the Fiorentino symbol on the back of the chair. In my 30 years of experience I have never seen a desk set like this. The wood is dark walnut and the mirror has Eastlake style spoon carvings on the corners and a half spindles on each side of the mirror. It has a squared off top that looks shelf like. The glass is in excellent condition with no fogging or discoloration. There are a few nicks and scuffs on the wood of the mirror but over all it is in great condition. The marble on the desk is in excellent condition. ... moreIt is light brown and has a smooth beveled edge. It still has some shine to it as well. The desk has 1 center drawer and it has dovetail craftsmanship with a brass pull. The legs are very curvy and come together to form a butterfly shape. The stretcher runs across the width of the table and is very curvy as well. Meeting the center of the legs on each side. The wood does show some signs of age and wear but this just adds to the character and patina of the entire set. The back upper corner has a small chunk missing but you cant even see it with the marbel top on. See pictures below. This is a very nice set, it is antique and will not be perfect. I do not know who the maker is or the exact date it was made. The mirror measures 46 ¼ inches tall, 25 3/8 inches side to side and 3 11/16 inches front to back. It weighs 20 pounds. The marble top measures 1 1/8 inches tall, 29 9/16 inches side to side and 19 3/8 inches front to back. The marble weighs 58 pounds. This fine Victorian dresser is in excellent antique condition and has a gorgeous presence. This dresser measures 76 inches in height from the floor to the top of the mirror.28 inches in height from the floor to the top of the marble on each side,31 inches in height from the floor to the top of the marble at the center. When the writing desk ... moreis opened and pulled out(the inverted wooden pull on the writing desk does have a chip) this area measures 26 inches in height to the floor,18 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches deep. The dresser width measures 49 inches, and depth of the base measures 23 inches and this dresser weighs approximately 200 lbs. This dresser does dis-assemble into 6 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The newer replacement mirror measures 33 inches high by 33 inches wide and is in excellent condition. The marble on this dresser is totally outstanding.with each piece having a wonderful engraved floral border on the edge. The marble has no issues we can find.just beautiful.
