This is a auction is for an antique wood picture frame that is done with pyrography or wood burning. This frame has three gorgeous poppies that have been painted red and green. The rest of the frame is done in a swirl pattern. The opening has been offset which is very unique and different than most of these types of frames. It is in nice shape with no nicks or missing pieces. There is a small crack on the back piece, as shown, it does not affect the front or the frame at all. This frame measures 9 3/4" long and 8" wide. Offered is a handsome 19th Century Primitive Knife Tray decorated with folk'netted' stamped design- pyrographic. I believe.brimming with character. Measuring approximately 11 1/2 inches long. 7 inches wide, and 2 inches deep- condition is very good with a few cracks showing in the bottom, but otherwise is great shape. Decoration(as stated) is a stamped pattern reminiscent of netting.perhaps applied using fabric and bordering on folk art. Just a great little piece with wonderful decorative appeal. This auction is for an exceptionally nicely worked Flemish Art Pyrography jewelry or storage box! It measures 14 3/4" long x 7 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" deep. The design is of bunches of grapes nestled among leaves and vines. The design is crisp. Has depth, contrast and wonderful detailing! It has the original brass swing lock and hinges. In addition; the inside has a pleasing wood burned design. The underside of the box has a nice green stain. The bottom of the box is marked"Flemish 697 Art" Overall this box is in lovely condition and a lovely example of Turn-of-the Century Pyrography! It does not seem to have had any repairs. The hinges and clasp are sturdy and operative. The inside is pleasant and quite clean. Issues: There are some light areas across the top of the box due to wear- represented in photo 10. A bit of an unusual Androck wooden kitchen utensil. The handle is wooden with a pyrography design that looks rather Native American or possibly Inuit– the metal appears to be tin. Not stainless, but it does not state the content. It has a hole that you can hang– The base of the piece is a metal circle– I imagine this may be a grilling type gadget– to make meat patties? Or it could serve as a large biscuit type cutter? I doubt that one. Whatever it is. It is very attractive and interesting– assume it is a 1940’s to 1950’s piece– Size: approx length is 9 inches. It could be used for a myriad of things. It is carved from Fruitwood and has three shelves. Each shelf is beautifully decorated in a pyrography technique and painted in vibrant colors. The top shelf is decorated with a house and a windmill under a large tree and vibrant greenery surrounding the house. There are several sprigs with flowers and leaves- also in different hues of green and floral colors. There is a butterfly in the corner in vibrant colors and two bars swallows in flight approaching the cottage. The second shelf. Ie middle shelf is beautifully decorated with red and blue poppies and their green foliage. The ... morebottom shelf is decorated on it's almost entire surface with sprigs of different floral motifs, life daisies, zinnias, Indian Paint Brushes, etc. The stand is very heavy and carved from Fruitwood and is in good used condition. The beautiful patina of this really enriches it's presence. There is also a pearl like stencil decor around the periphery of the shelves. The top shelf has a railing so it could be used as a stand for porcelain or other knick nacks. It stands 35.5" high, 22" wide, and 12.5" deep. It has been used and has some spots but it doesn't detract from the intrinsic beauty of the item. The right front corner of the bottom shelf has been repaired as can be seen in the photos. This is an original pyrography wood burned box with the Wizard hinges intact and one is very readable. Wizard. F. Grammes& Sons, Allentown PA. Age of this box is unknown. But the original owner was born in 1890. She wrote her name on the inside lid in pencil, Mabel Blohm. It appears to be the writing of a child. The box is in excellent condition, minus the handwritten name in pencil. My mother used it to store her lipstick, and there are some red lipstick stains on the inside of the box, not the lid. PLEASE BACKGROUND: This item is a very old wooden picture frame with wood-burning decoration. I bought this at a local estate auction some years ago. I do not know who made this item or how old it is. DESCRIPTION: This item is a picture frame. Is made of a dry wood(not sure what kind but it has a light scent) it has its(I assume) original glass insert and hanging wire. The front is rather dark and heavily decorated with swirls. Scrolls, and sword handles…apparently done with a wood burner. The edges are decorated with what looks like burnt ridges. The back is lighter. Has a hanging wire attached, and what looks like“AB” and“No.1. burnt into the back bottom. ... moreThis frame measures about 9 inches long. 7 inches wide, and about ½ inches thick. The picture opening is 5-1/8 inches by 3-13/16 inches. CONDITION: This item does have some visible condition issues: there is wear along the edges and on the corners of this item. There are small scuffs and scratches all over this item, the original back is not present, the front is very dark(probably due to age, dirt, smoke, etc. there are nail holes in the back, and this frame is dirty and dusty and could use a good cleaning/polishing. Circa 1930. a breton having his morning coffee and smoking pipe. through the window, you can see the church. note the quimper faiene bowl and pitcher on the table. he, of course wear his typical breton outfit and hat. signed lower right.stamped on the back. it also is handpainted 12.5 long, 8.5 inches wide.two very square handle typical of the 30 th, h 3.5 inches at the top of the handle. no scratch because of a glass from the period protecting the all tray. would be nice to add to your collection. Really cool vintage square squatty decorative box with allover pyrography decoration of grapes. The shape is really interesting and unusual! Approx. 3"T x 7 1/4" square. Some age toning to the hardware. Hinges on 1 side of lid have replaced but older nails(patina matches nicely) which protrude a bit inside the lid- shouldn't be that hard to correct- I just don't have time to fuss with this right now. According to the label on the back which looks very authentic this wood burning was done for a child of 16 years old in 1910 by the name of Mattie Warner. VINTAGE PYROGRAPHY HANGING PIPE RACK HOLDER W/INDIAN, FLEMISH ART?
This is a vintage pyrography pipe rack with a nice Indian. I do not know if this is also called flemish Art. Don't know the difference. It has places for 5 pipes and a piece of leather for hanging. It is 11 7/8" at the widest and 5" wide, 1 7/8" wide at the rack. Condition is very good but there is a chip at the bottom under the rack as seen in the last photo. A mirror and towel rack meant to be used above an Edwardian wash basin and pitcher. The round mirror is beveled and below is a brass towel rod, split into two parts. The larger part is for your monogrammed linen towel, the narrower for a linen wash rag. The piece measures 19" long by 8 1/2" wide. It is in great condition. There is a very very faint line of foxing on the mirror. A small chip below the towel rack about 1/8" x 1" only on the first layer of wood. The brass rod and brass chain and fasteners on the back are darkened with age. The mirror is held in place with a square ... morepiece of cardboard that some child has scribbled on with red crayon. The brass knobs on the back of the towel rod have had glue placed over them with a piece of scotch tape. My photo shows two gobs of dirt on the back which I will remove, thought they were wood putty but they are dirt. There is a chip to one layer of wood next to the bottom left corner and one to the far upper right corner, other than that really amazing shape. I believe this was given as a Christmas gift because in the upper left corner on the back is a burned inscription. Dec. 25' 12 with the initials E.M. for more great items!
