But it looks to be Bronze(looking at the patina) or Brass. Stamped on the Back NEPAL Approx. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" high I Found this at an Estate Sale. About 20 years ago. It almost looks like it was cut or taken off the rest of the statue. Before listing I took it to my local jeweler, to find out what exactly this was made of. His best quess was Bronze or Brass. This listing is for a very fine circa 1890’s French Art Nouveau bronze bust of a young beauty with a hat. The piece measures 14 inches or 35.5 cm high. And is 7 inches or 18 cm at its widest. The bronze features a ¾ bust of a beautiful young woman wearing a large brimmed hat. She wears her hair loose and flowing under her hat. She has excellent rendering in her smiling face and hair. Also the details in ... moreher clothes is quite fine. The bronze has a milk chocolate brown patina or color, which is all original to the piece. It is signed on the back“G. VAN DER STRAETEN” this for Georges Van Der Straeten(1856-1928) who was Belgian in descent but lived and worked in Paris for much of his life. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1885 and produced many portraits and some fanciful busts. There is also a foundry mark on the back for the Societe des Bronzes of Paris. Please reference Bronzes of the 19 th Century by Peter Kjellberg pages 622 and 665. The bronze is in excellent condition. There are minor age appropriate variations to the patina. Really beautiful French signed bust of lovely female. Either bronze or iron but I think bronze. I'm not an expert and I buy things because I like them; I'm not a collector or art dealer. Bear Bryant Cold Cast Bronze Sculpture You are bidding on a beautiful cold cast bronze bust sculpture depicting Paul"Bear" Bryant. Bear Bryant was the greatest coach in the history of college football. Coaching in 4 decades and throughout a variety of offensive and defensive styles. He constantly created Champions. This impressive statue is 10.5" tall and weighs 3 lbs. The base is 4.5" wide and 4.5" deep. It stands 4.75" high. The bust on top of the base is almost 7" tall. The pictures above cannot convey the real quality of the statue. The cold cast bronze has a burnished bronze look. The artist has captured with great detail and power the image of Bear Bryant. Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Metal Bust of a Woman Mucha
Gorgeous Art Nouveau bust of a young woman. Circa 1900. Her expression is innocent, blithe and wistful at the same time. This is a beautifully decorative antique piece and would make a wonderful display for jewelry as well. I believe this is solid bronze. But am not sure. It is very, very heavy, non-magnetic, and you can see the coppery golden color showing under the dark black brown patina in some areas and the scratches. The base(very bottom piece) is some kind of stone, probably marble. Excellent condition with the exception of some minor surface wear/ tiny scratches. Her nose. For example, has a little mark across it, but it does not deter from the loveliness of the piece. This measures between 12.5" and 13" tall. And the base is 5.75" wide. Early 20th Century Thai Bronze Buddha Bust
This wonderful early 20th Century Thai Bronze Buddha Bust was purchased in Bangkok 30 years ago. The bust is in excellent condition. But I can't comment on the condition of its body! The sea-green patina and the Buddha's expression really are lovely, and the only sign of"wear" I can see is to the nose, which obviously has been rubbed through the decades for good luck. It measures approximately 7" in height, 3" in width and 2" in depth, and weighs 4.2 pounds(yes, it's very heavy for its size) Your antique will be sent out within 1(one) business day of your payment. This auction is for a very nice antique French Art Nouveau Signed Bronze of a young woman. It is mounted on. It is by Van Der Straeten. It is signed and also has the Foundry stamp as well. It is mounted on a pedestal of red marble. It measures 8" high by 4" across at it's widest point. There is a hairline crack that goes all the way around the marble pedestal where a repair may have taken place but as you can see not bad. Also a very small chips on the marble at the front top edge and the back top edge. The bronze itself is in great condition with a nice patina. There looks like there is a mark on Lenins head that could be a pemanate marker or? The head is missing some of the outer coating in spots. There is writing on the side. This is an absolutely stunning and exquisite piece with a very nice dark green great patina. I aquired this years ago from a dealer that aquired it from an estate sale. It measures 7.5" X 5.5" X 3.5" and has outstanding intricate detail! This bust is dated from the 19th to early 20th century from what I was told but it very well could be older as well. Early Verdigris Bronze Sphinx, Bust of Woman, Body of Lion
This bronze sphinx has the bust of a woman and body of an unwinged lion in lying attitude. There is a small rectangular flat platform on her back. Very nice verdigris patina. For what it's worth. There was a tiny piece of paper tucked inside the bronze dating the piece to 400 BC, however, we have no way of authenticating that. It measures 3 1/2 inches long and is 2 1/2 inches high.
