Lot 2 Antique Steel Corbel Brackets Architectural Vintage Corner Porch
Up for bid are two Antique Steel Corbel Brackets that were found in a house that was being remodeled. The house dated from 1892 so these could be from that period forward. The photos show the corbels to be pink in color. However they are off white in color. These corbels are made of steel and are hollow. There is only slight surface rust here and there on the corbels; no holes from rust nor none starting. They would clean up quite well with some paint stripping material applied. These would make a great addition to a historical remodeling project or just simply a great conversation piece if added to an interior decorating project. Set of 2 Two Vintage Antique Architectural Gold Paint Plaster Corbels Brackets !
Hi: For your consideration here is a nice set of two(2) vintage or antique sconces or brackets! These medium to large size pieces measure a bit over 8 1/4" from the top of the shelf to the bottom tip. And the surface area of the shelf top is about 9 3/8" wide by 4 1/2" deep which is the maximum depth they would stick out from a wall when mounted. The pieces weigh close to two pounds each unpacked. They are made of what appears to be white plaster or a similar material and the gold finish looks similar to gilders paste/paint. There is a small wire rod in the plaster with a twisted piece of wire on the back of each for hanging. Both are in good condition with no major loss or cracks. Both have light to dark spots or areas in the top shelf part(3rd photo from last) and the other has several small chips and related finish loss. ... moreThe'worst' chipped area is shown in the last photo but there is nothing that could not easily be touched up. Did they come from an old Amish home? We don't know, but most of the items brought into auction there are from the local area. They are a matched pair, 13.5" on the long side and just over 11" on the shorter side. They are 1 1/2" thick. Here we have an original pair of 1880's era ~ VICTORIAN PORCH CORBELS WITH THE ORIGINAL FINIALS ~. We acquired a total of four out of the same estate. So please check out the other two we have listed if by chance you need four. This pair of fancy Victorian corbels has a wonderful look and great detail in the design. They measure 24 inches tall by 17 inches long by 3 5/8 inches wide. They are somewhat dirty and would clean up quite nicely, or could strip them and add fresh paint. The wood is quite solid and there are no soft areas or rot. The one side looks like it was exposed to some heat, but it is only on the very surface and really did not hurt the corbels. For sale in this auction is a pair of porch brackets or porch corbels for decoration next to a porch post. These are off of a 100 year old house porch that was being torn down. They are made out of wood and most of the paint is gone. They measure approximately 14 inches long on the longest side and 12 inches long on the other side. They are approximately 3 1/4 inches wide on the back side. The tallest part of the decoration measures approximately five and half inches tall. They do have wear. Some cracking, lots of cobwebs and one corner has damage more than the rest. I tried to show that in the pictures. Up for auction are this pair of great old antique bracket's. Made of iron. They are large measuring 15 3/8"x 15 3/8" x 1. One is about 3/8"1/2" shorter due to the tip doesn't look like it was drilled and has a little angle to it. The other has one piece of the curly turn broken offing the inside of the turned area. SEE PICS. They weigh almost 5 lbs each. Brackets do have holes for mounting.Still has all it's original rust with some minor white paint left. Perfect for bookends or to use as brackets for a shelf! Due to their age. They do have some chipping paint as expected, but no broken or loose pieces. Most of the paint is intact.
