The ... morenewel post stands almost 5' high. It is approximately 57" from floor to top of finial. It is in three pieces, a square base with a rounded stand, the rounded post and the top finial. The largest part of the square base is approximately 17.75"x17.75" There are threaded rods on the inside that connect the base and post together, the finial sits on top. There are specks of white paint around the newel post. I will let the buyer decide how to remove it. This newel post is meant to be at the bottom of a staircase. The railing is 12' long and approximately 5.5" wide. It is also made of solid mahogany. The bottom of the railing mounts flush onto the newel post. The top of the railing has a hump back that turns into a corner and mounts to the wall. There are a few places where the edges on the bottom have partially broken off. I had them stored for a while and wood pieces may be missing. Salvaged from a old house in St.Louis City, most of those buildings were built in the early 1900s and late 1800s. Wood Columns from an 1908 industrial building in Southern Indiana. There are 8" beams in 13' and 15' heights. Salvaged 19th Century Walnut Wood Octagonal-Shaped Chicago Building Newel Post
largely intact original and documented c. 1876 turned solid walnut wood interior commercial building staircase multifaceted newel post likely fabricated by palmer. Faux Oak” is a term describing real wood that has an applied grain. To simulate the look of real oak. Up for auction is this great pair of salvaged posts. Look to be hand carved. Barley twist and acanthus leaves pattern. Measures 43 1/4" tall by 4 3/8" at the widest point. Nice condition. A few cracks in wood but still very solid and heavy. See pics for cracks. 1 chip on end. They are newer. Not antique. Stained a med dark color. Repurpose for island supports.
