Beautiful antique spelter Ansonia clock topper. Has a Lady sitting on a chair holding a box of jewelry in one hand and what looks like a piece of jewelry she is admiring in the other hand. This wonderful clock topper has great detail and is in good shape. The only problem I can find with it is that the ball part of the jewelry in the woman's hand is gone. The only way I even noticed this though is because i'm selling another one that looks just like it right now and that one has the piece of jewelry hanging off the woman's hand. Two Antique Spelter Ansonia Sitting Lady Clock Toppers
Pair of antique Ansonia spelter clock toppers. They are both toppers of women sitting in two different poses. One is sitting on a bench and the other is sitting holding a harp in one hand. Both of these clock toppers have some wear to the finish. They also each have a crack on the back side of the topper. The woman holding the harp has a crack on the leg of the bench. Which does not go all the way through. The other lady sitting has a crack on the bench as well as a very small one close to the leg of the woman. The cracks on the back of these toppers are shown in the pictures so please review all images. Both of these toppers are still very sturdy pieces. Antqe Rare Spelter Eagle Clock Austria Germany signed Ano Otto, Glass Eyes, 1900
This is a wonderful antique"Rare" Spelter Eagle Mantle Clock. Hand made and hand painted. It is from Austria- Germany and was made around 1900. This large clock is made of heavy spelter and it is in excellent condition with very few minor age scratches or marks. The EAGLE design is spectacular, the feathers, wings, claw feet, beek, and the face are amazing and how he made the claw feet look so real. Beautiful hand painted colors, and how did they get those yellow glass eyes so deep into the head. The clock face is white with black numbers and blued steel hands, the face is covered by a round glass dome hinged door in excellent condition and the glass looks old. The brass 8 Day movement is spring driven time only, marked MDAE IN GERMANY, JEWELED, and it runs well. This majestic Eagle perched on a rock is signed A. Otto and stamped ... moreon the bottom AUSTRIA, JMD, 10603 and has it's original brass key. Here we have an old spelter metal figural clock topper. I have seen these atop Ansonia and New haven clocks among others. This old sculpture dates to the 1800's and is in really great condition compared to others I've seen although the very tip of the feather is missing from his hat. Looking at the bottom you will see what the finish looked like originally. A gold color, but time has erased some of it on the exposed areas so he now appears as having a gold wash if you will. Antique French Spelter Clock Figure Statue Chemist Pharmacist Perfumer
An antique French spelter pot metal clock figure statue in the form of a young man with an amphora form bottle and stopper. This seems referential to a trade. But I'm not sure which one. A chemist/ pharmacist seems most likely, but he may also be meant to represent a perfumer or a doctor. This has some wear and loss to the gold paint finish, several spots of discoloration and greening of the finish as well. The backside has two large areas of missing paint on his cloak. Marked LSF. It was working about 2 years ago when it was moved from my late brother in laws home. I don't have the key and don't want to touch it as I am not qualified to do so. 1800's Beaux Arts Onyx, Gilt Spelter Clock; Baroque Form, Excellent Running,
This clock. Along with several other antique clocks which we inherited and will probably be listing as well, was inspected by an antique clock dealer. Although I appreciate the beauty and sounds of antique mechanical clocks, I am not an expert in any way. I will give you all the information I have and if you need more photos, please contact me. We were advised to have the clocks cleaned and serviced. So. This clock was recently completely"overhauled" and cleaned by a professional clock master. It runs well; the chimes don't quite correspond with the hands on the clock, but that should be a minor adjustment; the chimes work well and sound beautifully. This clock is a fabulous Beaux Arts Onyx and gilt Spelter French clock from the 1800's. It has an ornate hand painted porcelain face. All in Baroque Form. Clock works well and ... morethe pendulum is present(although I cannot seem to find the proper key-we did have the key for this clock and if I find it, it will be sent should the auction be successful; the clock master who overhauled the clock did not want the key, and I thought I put it with all the other clocks and their keys) It does not seem to have a maker's marking on it, but I was told that this was common with French clocks. There are three holes drilled in the top of the clock surface for attaching the topper. Please note that this topper is not bolted to the base. The clock topper figure is a 1800's Beaux Arts casting in gilt Spelter of a small child. Seemingly repeating school lessons from an open book on the child's lap. This might or might not have been the original clock topper; we cannot be sure, but it does go well with this clock. It is about 10 inches tall, and is in very good condition with not cracks or repairs. This clock weighs about 38 pounds and has dimensions of about 16 x 17 x 10 inches(including the top statue of child) Note: Due to the weight and since this clock needs to be professionally double boxed. VERY RARE! Set of 2 Antique Ansonia STATUES- LORD& LADY" Material: Spelter Age: 1904 Reference: Ansonia Clocks and Watches. Ly, Page 675, No. 2904& 2905 Overall Size: 25" High approx. Base diameter is 9" Description: These are very large. Not to be confused with the smaller Spelter statues that Ansonia offered for sale. They are quite impressive and are much larger in person than they appear in the photos. We included a photo of the Lord statue next to one of Ansonia's standard sized statues(the Fisherman) for size comparison. The smaller Fisherman statue is NOT included. The Lord and Lady are among the largest and rarest of the Ansonia statues. The chance of seeing one or both of these ever again. Especially in this condition would be very unlikely. It is amazing that these survived as a pair their entire life. ... moreThe casting is an extremely high quality. With a great amount of detail you will not find with most other statue makers of the era. Ansonia's chief designer for the time was Henry Davies, and as you can see, he was a master craftsman. This is the"Lord and Lady" pair and they stand a whopping 25" high with a base diameter of 9" and are extremely detailed from head to toe. Even the bases are highly detailed with lots of scroll work. You can see the"Lord" Or more commonly called a"swashbuckler or swordsman" handing the beautiful"Lady" a bouquet of flowers as she is reaching out to take them into her hand. Both statues were also offered as a fixed statue on a clock base. Which in themselves are nearly impossible to find(Ansonia called them Suitor and Countess when offered as statue clocks) You can reference them on Page 148, No. 462/463. Both of the statues are complete and outstanding with the following minor exceptions. About a half inch of the end of Lord's scabbard is broken off and missing. It is a simple round shape and would be an easy fix. The sword is to the rear of the statue so it cannot be seen in from the front.

This is a really amazing piece that we think dates back to the beginning of the 1900's. The clock is housed in a solid bronze statue that features a cherub playing the harp and a woman looking down upon him. The base of the clock is marble with a red/pink and white swirl pattern. This is an absolutely beautiful piece with ornate decorations typical of the French style at the time. This piece comes with the key and the chime bell. The back of the bronze statue is marked"Made in France" and the back of the clock movement is marked"Horlogerie J Paris" and has a"Marquee Deposee" trademark. As well ... moreas the number"6867" stamped into the movement. We couldn't find any other marks that indicate exactly where or when this was made. This is an absolutely stunning piece that would make a great addition to any collection, and will add a real touch of class to any mantle piece! Condition: This piece is vintage and used with some wear but the springs are in great shape. When the clock is wound it goes for a short period before stopping. There is no pendulum included which it needs to keep going and the chime bell needs a nut to keep it screwed into place. There is some light wear and tarnishing to the bronze. Which is typical of bronze this age. There is some light wear to the marble base, mostly at the corners where the is a bit of wear. The bottom of this piece looks like it was repaired at some point in its history. Please look closely at the photos for condition details and ask us any questions before bidding.
