~ French- Circa 1880 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A very fine and substantial gilt bronze table clock by Louis Japy. It is of the the ... morehighest quality. Beautifully modelled and finished in glorious ormolu(finely gilded bronze or doré bronze) It is of balloon form with bold scrolls and acanthus swags. To the top a large rococo flourish. The front and sides have sound frets backed with red velvet. We have carefully and completely cleaned and restored the clock to a very high standard. The large and stunning dial is enamel on copper and is complete with it's original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex bezel. The bezel is marked for the retailer Charles Hour. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and thoroughly tested before presenting it for sale. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent. Beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. Putti& Marble CLOCK Garniture Set Fresh from a very fine estate we are pleased to offer this French Louis XVI-style gilt bronze and marble figural mantel clock and urn garniture set. Fine french movement by S. Marti& Cie. Medalle d' Argent in round body set in a chariot drawn by two goats and adorned by Bacchic cherub,putti. Mounted on a rectangular marble base with acanthus edging and paw feet. The two matching covered urns are festooned with garlands and ribbons and have finely detailed mythical fauns playing instruments on each side. One urn is slightly crooked because there is a ring that the body of the urn rests on that is detached slightly from the shaft. Please take time to view photos carefully ... morenoting the fine casting and detailing throughout. The putti are divine with their beautiful faces and finely detailed grape wreaths! A very decorative antique French gilt brass cartel wall clock by Samuel Marti. It is Rococo in style. Asymmetric with acanthus shoulders and a large acanthus leaf top. Acanthus flowers hang below the dial. It is in stunning condition, finely modelled with good original gilding. The dial is cream with blue lettering and has a separate minute ring and convex glass. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. The 8 day movement has a ticking top-mounted balance platform. Is original and in absolute great working condition. This makes the clock a real bargain because of the high cost of getting one overhauled& restored. The giltwood case has sunburst like rays extending outwards with a nice brass case with a convex-shaped glass lens mounted to the front access door. The glass panel has no chips, cracks or repairs. It is decorated in a rich blue glaze. Highlighted with gold gilt and comes with the matching candlesticks. It has a Samuel Marti movement with enamel dial. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 10 + ¼ inches tall by 7 + ½ inches across the mask handles by 3 + ¼ inches front to back. The candlesticks measure 6 inches tall by 3 + ¾ inches square across the base. This is an Original Antique L. Marti et Co Porcelain clock with Medaille De Bronze Stamped on the brass plate behind the bell. It has been recently serviced and runs very well.It is a gorgeous mantle clock. During the firing process the piece is not quite level so you have to shim it a tiny bit to make it level on your mantle. I have instructions on how to set up the clock that will come along with the clock itself. Due to age, there is a bit if crazing on the glaze. This is a hand painted piece, very ornate with gold accents. It is 12 tall. 12.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. This rare clock was part of my grandmother's estate and I have recently inherited it. I do not have a great deal of information about it. However, I found a small engraving inside that says Medaille D'Or 1900 Samuel Marti. After a brief research on the internet. I found that Samuel Marti produced this clock circa the late 1800s. The clock works and I wind it once every other day. It has a very sophisticated presence with the Roman numerals and its golden details. The top and the bottom are made of green marble. There is a small damage over the number 30 on the dial and I took a very close picture to depict this minor issue. Other than that it is very lightly worn. For a clock of 114 years old. It is 12 inches tall and 8 inches at its widest.

Large Antique French Brass Clock by Samuel Marti ~ French- Circa 1880 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A large Baroque clock of excellent quality by the famous maker Samuel Marti. It is beautifully made of brass with hairy paw feet. An armorial bearing to the front with Lions Rampant and mythical creatures to the sides. The front has sound frets backed with red velvet that also help to lighten the design. To the top is a large and elaborate urn with mythical creatures as the handles. The large and impressive dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and blued steel hands. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the maker's mark on the backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in superb clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. Rare Antique J Marti French Open Esapement Theater Lady Mantel Clock WorksNo Key
Up for auction is a beautiful antique mantel clock. I believe this to be very rare. As I have never seen any other like it. It was purchased at an estate sale. I was told that it was French in origin and is signed J Marti on the movement. It is a large and very heavy clock. Majority of the case is metal. At the bottom there is a theater mask with what looks like theater curtains in the back ground. The bottom of this round piece is some sort of black stone. At the top there is a lady a musical instrument. She sits on top of the same type of black stone that is shaped like a column. The front of the clock has the same black stone on each side of the face. Along the side there are urns with flowers flowing out of them. The clock has several finials and beautiful ornamentation. The face is white and has an open escapement. The statue and top ... morepiece of stone will come off of the clock as seen in the pictures. It comes with what I assume is the original pendulum, but doesn't have a key. I have a universal key and I would it up to make sure it would run. It ran for two days, keeping good time, but lost a couple of minutes. Also, it chimes the hour and half hour on a gong. It usually chimes a couple of minutes late. I asked a friend that knows a little about clocks and he said that it needs adjusting and probably needs cleaning. It was last cleaned/serviced by House of Clocks in Birmingham, ALA. according to the sticker in the back. This is truly an amazing clock and if my mantel was deeper, I would be keeping her. Up for sale is this wonderful antique French mantle clock. The movement is signed Marti. The time function has been running well. But the strike function has been a bit funny, it wasn't striking at all, but I just gave the spring a few winds and it went off, but the spring was definitely not unwound prior, so I don't think that was the full issue. So be aware that it will require some attention. The pendulum is likely a replacement, configured to fit, there is a solder mark at its base, where it should be adjustable, but no longer is. The hands are replacements, and perhaps the dial as well. The bezel is missing its glass. But I think the star is the grain in the veneer of the case, and the straight simple and elegant lines of the clock. Another clock from my dad's collection. This auction is for the MOVEMENT ONLY as the belgium slate case weighs 60+ lbs. Movement includes heavy bronze metal mint dial and thick beveled glass hinged door. Bell, pendulum, side mounts and case back with original hinged mounting ring and screws. Movement looks pristine and complete to me! Both back and front hinges are in great condition, doors close and latch firmly. Fits 4 1/4" opening. A Brocot escapement is present. Pendulum size at bottom of plate: 4 pounce 11 ligne. I calculate that as 5.24" and will include a pendulum that measures 5 1/4" in it's shortest position- serial no. does not match. There is no key. There is a mark with a star and the letters SF& JD, serial no. 13022. On the side of the bezel frame the#2 plus the same serial no. stamped. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard. On the dial face is printed N G Woods& Sons. Boston. It was a common practice for Marti clocks to be printed with the retailers business name. This clock is associated with a 19th century jeweler in Boston MA. Born: 5 Oct 1824. Leominster MA Marriage: Maria Sizer Johnson on 25 Feb 1847 in Leominster MA Died: 24 Apr 1907. Boston MA General notes: Silversmith and jeweler Events in his life were: Apprenticed from about 1840 to 1842 to Moses Cushman Wood in Westborough MA Apprenticed from 1842 to 1844 to WILLIAM P. He worked from circa 1848 to 1860 as a jeweler in Boston MA He appeared on the 1850 census taken at Boston MA. Listed as a jeweler. This is a French antique that you would normally see in a museum. This piece would only been only found in the homes of the richest of society. It is made of bronze. Black slate, ruby pallet jewel escapement pins, with the finest 1950's French manufactured brass Marti movement. The movement has been oiled and works beautifully. As is typical of this clock, the movement speed adjustment is accomplished on the pendulum and on the front face. The clock comes with original pendulum and 2 keys; one for the winding and one for speed adjustment. This is a rare chance for someone to own a precious piece of history(165 years old) in unbelievable condition. Defects are as shown in pictures; some minor chips on slate corners. All the gold etching has been restored. Measurements: clock, 21" tall x 16" wide x 6 1/2" deep, 4 1/2" dia. dial; 2 side challises, 12" tall, 6 1/2" wide. 5 3/4" deep, 6 1/4" dia. dish, 4" tall sphinx. It is in working order and runs but runs fast. So it will want a small adjustment. It also has a lovely and delicate chime– very easy to live with! The slate has engraved detail around the face and on the base. It stands on 4 little ormolu legs and has ormolu handles and a decorative top piece. It is very heavy and weighs 6.560 kilograms. Up for your consideration is this lovely antique F. Marti marble mantel clock with matching candelabra's. This is a piece that was"Presented To: Mr. A Reeves. 13TH JAN. 1909 After 14 Years Devoted Service In The Choir of St Leonard, Hythe. The clock is missing the top piece and two side pieces. Over all it is a beautiful piece and carries some great history. It comes with two candelabra's one is missing a candle cup. When I turn the clock up side down it makes a winding sound. All of the parts are with the clock and the key is also present. The clock has a number 782 with the number 4 and 4 on the lower part of the inside workings. There are a couple of nicks on the clock over all it is in very good condition for a age of over 100 years. At this point I would say the clock is not working. It can be repaired.
