A very fine and substantial gilt bronze table clock by Louis Japy. It is of the the ... morehighest quality. Beautifully modelled and finished in glorious ormolu(finely gilded bronze or doré bronze) It is of balloon form with bold scrolls and acanthus swags. To the top a large rococo flourish. The front and sides have sound frets backed with red velvet. We have carefully and completely cleaned and restored the clock to a very high standard. The large and stunning dial is enamel on copper and is complete with it's original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex bezel. The bezel is marked for the retailer Charles Hour. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and thoroughly tested before presenting it for sale. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent. Beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles next to the winding holes and some slight chipping to the edge near the 2 o'clock(not visible with the bezel closed) We have replaced the red velvet with fresh. This is very fine clock to add to your collection. Louis Japy clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate. On the bezel the mark of the retailer Charles Hour. Complete with original pendulum. The rosewood case is in very good condition with very few flaws. Such as a piece of wood chipped from the rear of the clock(see pictures) The front glass appears as if it is original, the hinge is a little loose and also has had a repair to the hinge, but still functions as it should. Despite what the one picture shows, the front bezel does stay shut on it's own and stays closed. The face plate has some slight fading, mostly to the days of the month on the outer rim. The front glass is free of any large scratches or scuffs. The original paper is still present inside the glass door(pictured) The original pendulum weight is included, but the key is a replacement. The clock does keep time and date well. Attached to the rear of the clock is the history of this clock. It states that it hung in the lobby of the Clifton hotel in Elpaso, Illinois around the turn of the century. I will keep this attached to the clock for the winning bidder. A nice key is included that appears to be original but not certain. Great label in excellent condition appears through the bottom pendulum door. It's marked as Chauncey Jerome- New Haven, CT. so this would put this clock in the mid 1840's-mid 1850's range when Chauncey became New Haven Clock Company. The clock is about 5.25" tall, 4.5" wide, and 2.25" deep. The clock is set using the small round handle in the middle of the winding handle. There is also a speed adjustment slide(Slower to Faster) The clock does work(ran almost 4 hours on 1.5 turns of the wind-up handle) There are no markings that I can see on the clock to tell me who made it. Vintage INGRAHAM 8-Day Mantle Clock I have been gently caring for and using this elegant clock for a while now. Wind it up every 8 days and it will keep very accurate time. A gentle"gong" strikes on the hour and a soft"ding" on the half-hour. Manufactured by The INGRAHAM Co. in Bristol. Connecticut around 1900, this beautiful rare clock has all its original parts and they all work well. All components are in VERY GOOD CONDITION: The black"Adamantine" body; the decorative lion heads; the clock face. Hands and glass cover; the"marble" pillars and stands; the decorative feet; the interior works. There is o ne slightly loose foot. Some wear on the ring around the glass face cover, a few darkened spots on the porcelain clock face, and wear on the wooden back. Y ou can see all this by viewing the accompanying ... morepictures. The original key winds the clock spring and the chimes through separate keyholes. An adjustment wheel on the clock face can be turned to speed up the clock or slow it down. The movement is also stamped 22& the serial number is#17597. Brass front Dial. It is working. I have had it running a couple of days here in the store. It is running fast and will need to be adjusted. It chimes every 15 minutes and then on the hour it strikes depending on what hour it lands on. This is an antique clock made by renowned clock maker Seth Thomas. This clock is 100 years old and works perfectly. It has the key to wind the clock. You can also adjust if clock is working too fast or too slow. The chimes work perfectly and is really a beautiful piece for its age. Remember you will have to adjust time and chimes after you receive it from the move. This is easily done and is on youtube so you can see it being done. All it requires is winding the clock and setting time. It is a heavy piece. And pickup would be wonderful for the clock. Either way you will not regret having this in your home. Antique Waite& Son Mantel Clock circa 1900 from England/France. The clock does not run. It is marked on the face"French Make" Waite& Son was a clock making company in Cheltenham. England in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They might have made the movement for a French clock. Since it weighs 16 lbs. I believe that it's made out of slate& marble which was very popular in French clock making in the late 1800's and also used in England. Classically decorated with an engraved flower design in the corners between the black gray marble simulated columns, which also enhances the base. The clock face is in excellent condition and is covered by a 4 3/8" bezel with beveled glass. The clock measures 11 1/2" tall. 8 1/4" wide and 5"deep. The clock does not run. Classic German Mantel Clock Made Circa 190. With 8 Days Junghans Movement. In Perfect Condition and Working Order This fine mantel clock was made in Germany around the year 1900. Its movement bears the engraved logo of the company Jughans. One of the most prestigious watchmaker firms in the world. The clock is in excellent condition and works perfectly, having been thoroughly revised and fine-tuned in order to guarantee it. It chimes the hours and the halves. It boasts a neoclassical-inspired design, with a lovely architectonic style that turns it into a piece of timeless elegance. Junghans Uhren GmbH is currently Germany’s biggest watchmaker and one of the most important of Europe. The logo of the brand is an eight-pointed star with the letter J(initial of Junghans) inside. This particular clock has the logo engraved in the movement; into ... morethe star we can also see the company’s name. The firm was founded in Scramberg. Baden-Würtenberg(Germany) by Erhand Junghans who in 1862 opened a factory named Junghans and Tobler in partnership with his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler. This clock’s box is made of solid wood and its design imitates a classic house. With gabled roof and side columns.
