1800's ANTIQUE VICTORIAN FLAT TOP WALL TRUNK CHEST DATED W/LOCK & KEY
Up for consideration is a rare. Restored, antique wall trunk. It has a working lock& key. It has dated hinges that read"Dec 22 1891" It has been cleaned well inside and out. A new covering was put inside to resemble the old, so no musty smell. All original hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. New leather handles were put on. It has stress cracks and dings that add to the characture of the trunk. The measurements are: 32" long x 20" wide x 21" tall. Shipping, packing and insurance will cost $89.00. Jenny Lind Steamer Trunk/ Chest This is a Jenny Lind Steamer Trunk/ Chest. My best guess is that this dates to the mid 1800's. I purchased this in the Amish area of Pennsylvania about 30 years ago. It is in the same condition as it was when I purchased it. It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. This is an original Robert Burr early 1800's small unrestored trunk with the original label still attached inside. It reads Robrt Burr. Trunk Manufacturers, No 1& 3 Hanover Street, Next to Concert Hall) Boston, Wholesale& Retail. The trunk was found at an estate sale where the owner worked for the Historical Park, Greenfied Village in Dearborn, Mi. The trunk measures 14 by 9 inches and 7 inches high. It is leather covered with decorative metal half balls as trim. It comes with a key that fits the key hole but does not seem to make it lock. There is a protection cover metal that moves over and off the key hole. There are 4 leather straps inside which are all attached but only on one side. There is nice decorative paper covering on the inside. The outside leather handle is unattached but included. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal work and a working key. The trunk measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. Sanded and the wood slats were stained with minwax"golden oak" then the trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key and Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key. Interior Compartment Area, and Tray Here is a very nice clean refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. This beautiful hump back chest is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has a nice natural color, or patina which has come about only by age since there was no staining of the wood during the refinishing process. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with only some typical character marks which include older nicks and dings and some stress cracks. This one comes with ... morethe original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are original and are in working condition since the springs are intact. The side handles on this trunk have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. All of the leather that we use on our trunks comes from an Amish man in an Amish community near our house here in Pennsylvania. Going to the interior of this great trunk. It comes with an interior tray which we have replaced the bottom with wood to make it sturdy. This trunk's interior has also has the hidden compartment on the left side under the dome that we recreated. We put the drop door back on this compartment area and added a nice picture to the door. You can drop this door down to put items in this area and conceal them up inside the dome. At the right side, we have left the original decorative emblem and border in place. Gorgeous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Fancy Hardware. Working Lock and Key, and Interior Divided Tray This is a really fancy dome top steamer trunk or hump back chest from the mid to late 1800's. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful camel back chest is made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. As usual. There are plenty of older distress marks on this trunk from many years of usage. These character marks do include older nicks and dings and some stress cracks in various places. Overall, the trunk is sturdy and you can sit on the top of this trunk without any problems in case you want to use it at the foot of the bed while changing your clothing. Here ... moreare the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This one definitely has a heck of a lot of fancy metal hardware. None of the metal on this trunk is brass, so we have therefore brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. If you have been waiting for a flashy, fancy dome top, then here it is. There are patent dates on some of the cap metal. It looks like March of 1880. We have shown a close up picture of one of these dates on this trunk. This gorgeous trunk comes with the original working lock. There appears to be a patent date on the key hole cover, although it is difficult to see the year. It does have April abbreviated. We did match up a key that works with this lock. The engagement prong on this lock has been pried open in the past, but it still engages with the upper part ok. The front latches work properly since the springs are intact. These nice front latches are off of a parts trunk which should date back to nearly the same time that this trunk was made. Antique Vintage Small Child Size Travel Steamer Trunk w/ Tray & Key
A recent estate sale purchase. A small child's size travel/ steamer trunk complete with a tray and a key. This trunk measures approximately 22" long X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is ... morewood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. Antique Steamer Trunk This trunk has sat at the foot of my bed for over 40 years serving as storage for all my blankets. Linens, etc. and also a place to sit when getting dressed. Because it has a flat top it would also make a great coffee/end table. Antique steamer trunk is in original antique condition. Made of wood strapping. Canvas and metal with fancy latches and decorative corner ends. Beautiful original ornate functioning metal hardware and working lock and key. All the metal hardware is in tack except for 2 missing metal buttons. One in back and one in front. The two leather handles/straps are missing on each side. The interior shows some darking and wear. From age, but is authentic. There are also 4 metal wheels underneath. Measures approx. 36 1/2" long x 22 1/2" deep x 25 1/2" high. The trunk looks wonderful the way ... moreit is however. Handmade small wood trunk was made in GDR(German Democratic Republic) East Germany which existed from 1949 until May 3 1990 when the berlin wall fell. The bottom has a yellow label with"Handmade in GDR HOMESA" and shows a picture of a workman. It is 5 3/4" long by 3.5" deep& 3.5" high. Has a brass lock with key which works. It also has brass handles on both sides and 2 brass straps. In the center of the top is a brass lion within a shield with a crown on top. All is in good used vintage shape. Buyer pays S&H. Up for consideration is a Beautiful Stars& Stripes Embossed Humpback Victorian trunk. It has a working lock and key. It has been cleaned well inside and out. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. The inside was tastfully recovered with a star design. All orignal hardware. Smaller Pre WW11 Trunk With Shelf Intact And Key Rare & Hard To Find
Very very few of these survived with the top shelf intact. This is the only one I have ever seen with the key. To have both of these at once is just an incredible find.This trunk is 21 inches high by 16 inches wide by 29 inches long. The interior shelf is not shown. For some reason the picture of it did not come out, it is the normal standard shelf you see every once in a while in a steamer trunk. It is gorgeous the way it is but could easily be restored with a little varnish and paint since it is all intact. It will ship just like it sets unless you decide you want it boxed up, if it would survive in the hold of a ship it should survive UPS in the same way.
