The makers mark is one used by the company between 1879 and 1903. Both the pot and lid are in excellent condition with no chipping, cracks or crazing. Transferware of delicate roses in shades of pink with gilt highlighting. The gold paint show wear in some spots particularly around the edge of the lid. This in no way detracts from it's beauty. This is a substantial piece measuring 8" in height and 28-29" around the widest point of the pot. It is unusual to find a piece of this age in such good condition and with a Lid. Very Sriking Flow Blue pattern accented with a bright red poppy and green foiliage on one side and the rim. Other side does not have green accwnts. There are gold accent lines. But some areas have faded especaially by the handle.No crazing,cracks or chips. Tiny manufacturing flaw on the side of the rim to the left of the handle mentioned for accuracy. It is also deeply accented around the top and the lid with Gold. This is all original. The bottom is marked Eturia mellor&co. And comes with a matching pitcher. The inside is supreme for the age and the lid is fine too. The only damage are a couple minimal chips on the rim of the base which you cant see unless you turn it over. the pot is 10 inches across and the pitcher is 7 inches high and 61/2 inches handle to mouth.Take a close look at the photos. George and then another name that I can't quite make out( see photo) I do not know the exact age- but I am guessing around 1910- 1920? It is White Porcelain with a beautiful painted Floral Design and measures approx. 11 in. across( including the Handle) x 5 1/2 in. Tall. The top Rim measures approx. 9 in. No chips or cracks. I did wipe it with a damp cloth but it could use a more detailed cleaning. I did not have any soft scrub and as you can see in the photos there are some black marks around the inside Rim. This is a VERY high quality antique late 1700's to early 1800's MELLOR ETRURIA Chamber Pot commode with Lid and inset dish. It is obvious this was created for the very wealthy as it is hand painted in hues of soft teal blue floral pattern and trimmed in gold gilding gilt. The attention to detail and repousse decoration embossed all along the body and lid! The more lavishly decorated chamber pots with this type of decoration can be found in museums. There is an additional piece. A smaller bowl that sits perfectly inside the large chamber pot but may be a spittoon or hair receiver or perhaps even an easy lift out insert for the chamber pot. Antique CHAMBER POT Made in England BRISTOL POUNTNEY & CO LTD Floral Design
Up for auction is a great piece of American history. This Chamber pot was made in Bristol England by Pountney& Co. Ltd. in the early 1900's. The pot is fully marked on bottom and is authentic. There looks like a number is signed in red saying 6304p and an S. Not sure what all that means. I have never seen this old of a pot be in such good condition. The designs are totaly intact and not faded. Colors are green, gold, rust, and light brown. Most of the gold edging is still there with only a couple of worn areas. The pot measures 8.5" center diameter and 4.75" in height. The total with handle is 9.75" I have felt around the whole piece and feel NO chips, however there are a few hairline crazing cracks which I have taken pictures of. They are not deep, they are just on the surface. This pot weighs alot so I am shipping ... morepriority flat rate. Chamber pots were used as far back as the 6th century BC. I am trying to downsize a little. I have quite a few antique chamber pots and am going to list a few this week. This one is a pretty white pot with purple. Dark blue, orange, and cream flowers and berries. The embossed leaves are finely trimmed with gold. There's 3 different designs of flowers(sizes) all shown in photos.
