Vintage carved wood bear This fabulously carved bear is in good condition with only a tiny chip at the base of one paw(see photo) some dust cleaning needed in nooks and crannies. The piece is not marked. But it may be from the Black Forest in Germany. This piece is carved with such detail- about 7" tall. FOR VINTAGE ITEMS VINTAGE means used and older so don't expect new or perfect for these types of items(unless noted as new. Hand Carved Black Forest Walking Bear Signed With Glass Eyes
At auction from my personal collection is a great hand carved Black Forest Bear. Bear measures 6.5 inches long. 2 inches in width an 3.5 inches in height. A smaller version of the walking bear this one is exceptionally well done. From carved teeth to protruding tongue to th e tuft of fur under the jaw to the shading of the fur as the coloration goes from brown to tinges of black the carver got all the details right. Black Forest Wood Carving of a Pull String BEAR Photographing a Rabbit, nr
You are bidding on this vintage. Black Forest, carved wooden Bear, push button string toy shown. Notice the bear is holding the camera in its right hand. And the rabbit is in a hunched over position, now when you push the button in, it starts the string pull mechanics in motion. The bear moves back and holds the camera up to his eye and into position to take a picture of the rabbit.The rabbit also takes a move back ward and upright as if possing for the camera. I think its just aborable. Notice that underneath the push buttom someone painted a white dot, you can see part of the dot in some of my pics and the last picture. Antique Carved Wood Bear Lamp 20" tall Probably Black Forest I purchased this at a swap meet some years ago. The only information on it I know is what I acquired from the seller. She said that at one time it had a plate on the top of arm that is extended up. She also thought it was from Germany. The bear on the stand measures 20" tall. The base is 12" wide. I have uploaded tons of pictures. But will point out the rough spots that I notice too. The back of the hand of the extended arm is broken off and there is a chunk out of the front of the end of that arm too. I see 2 nails in the right foot, and there is a line on the arm that is in front of the bear that I can't tell if it is just an irregularity in the wood, or a repaired crack.

Both paws are upturned for holding a quill or pen. Great expression on his face. Carved from 1 piece of wood that has been hollowed out. The glass inkpot is plain- possibly not the original- but it sits fine in the carved well. This has not been cleaned or stained or re-finished. This bear is is hand carved and he has cute little black glass eyes and is extensively carved- almost showing each hair of his fur. He stands on a little decorated platform and holds a glass vase that has a hand etched floral decor. It comes from the unsold stock of Jobin in Brienz. Switzerland. Flick back and forth between those images and this bear.after a while you will note a lack of detail and cartoonish look to some bears. This bears finer features and more animated/alive presence suggests a more deft hand common in the late 19th century. This bear has a few checks(common with such age) The cub is missing part if its left front paw, and the right flank of the mother has a knot in the wood. Up for bids is this Large Antique Late 19thC German Black Forest Carved Wooden Bear Statue. This Black Forest bear was carved in Germany during the late 19thC. The bear is finely carved from wood and has a polychrome painted mouth with glass eyes. The bear is standing upright and is growling with his paws up. This piece would originally have been on a piece of furniture such as a hall tree but the dowel could be removed and it should be attached to a base because it does not stand freely. This piece stands 10 3/4" in height. 4 3/4" in width, and is 5 3/4" in depth. This piece is in great condition with just a small piece missing to one of the bears paws. From the black forest area of Switzerland. Hand carved in the manner of Brienz comes this bear guarding a match box and a brass ash tray. Measures 4 1/2" by 4 3/4" by 3 1/2" tall. The brass insert removes easily for cleaning. The matches are used for illustration only. In good condition. Consistent with its circa 1930 vintage normal and expected wear is present as shown.
