Two Solid Glass Blocks Brick Architectural Antiques Garden Green Yellow Tint
Up for auction are 2 Vintage Solid Glass Blocks-Bricks. Size-6.25 by 6.25 by 2 Inches Weight-5.15 LBS-each. Both bricks are hand cast. With a center enclave 3 by 3 inches, about 1-4 inch deep. Both Blocks are cast glass with seeds. Bubbles, swirls, wavy lines, they are clear, they pass the light wonderfully, and at the same time absorb the colors around them. I've been in the glass business for 38 years and have only seem 5 solid glass blocks. And never this size. I have not idea when they came from. And researched quite a while to see if I could come up with something close.

Early 19th Century Cast Iron Snow Bird Federal Eagle Architectural Antiques
Great authentic antique cast iron Snowbird or Snow Eagle. Circa late 1800' early 1900's. There are many styles and variations of these old architectural appointments and the Federal eagles were one of the most popular. Traditional example of artistic form following function. They were attached to the roofs to hold& keep layers of snow from sliding off. The snowbirds had mounting bars or straps that were usually placed about 24" from the roof edge. The'birds' then positioned side-by-side in a horizontal line. Their wings were designed to form a vertical barrier, holding the snow safely in place, allowing it to slowly melt. This Snowbird is an authentic architectural piece not a reproduction. It has a beautiful rustic bronze patina. It is without the mounting bar. COLLECTION OF HAND CARVED MAHOGANY FINIALS: Collection of three beautifully carved mahogany finial elements. Each finial base has a slightly different acanthus leaf carved pattern on each of its four sides. Each carved base has a differently carved top finial. Each base also have one of it's four corners'let in' where it would have been joined to an adjacent piece of carving. Some of the base pieces have hand cut roman numerals cut into the bottom surface. These three pieces make up a wonderful small grouping of architectural carving. They are an'instant collection' that can be easily displayed as is. Each finial is approx. 7 to 8 1/2" tall and. 3 1/2" square.

VERY NICE PAIR OF SMALL( 19 1/2" HT. MAHOGANY COLUMNS WITH HAND CARVED CAPITALS: The overall condition of this handsome pair of matched columns is very good. There are some small chips on each capital. But with the dark mahogany finish. The chips do not stand out. The tapered shaft has mahogany veneer. The varnish on the veneer has aged to a fine stippled surface. The stippling is very uniform and of a consistent color and texture on both columns. One column does have some abrasions on the shaft and a small chip and surface crack at the bottom. Most of this damage is on one side, allowing it to be placed out of sight on the back when displayed. The hand carved capitals are in a Corinthian style. Each capital has a large raised oval panel at the center of each face. Acanthus leaf carving is draped down from each volute. If you collect ... morearchitectural items, you know that it is very difficult to find a matched pair of columns with the style and quality of this pair. The overall height of each column/capital is 19 1/2" The column portion is approx. 15 3/4" in height. The shaft tapers from approx. 2 1/2" diam. at the top to approx. 3" diam. at the bottom. The capitals are approx. 3 3/4" in height and approx. 4" square at the top surface. These are a very nice pair of columns, with very nicely carved capitals. Take them home with you, put them to some use, or just sit them on the mantel. MATCHING PAIR OF CARVED NEWEL POST CAPS: Very nice matching pair of hand carved newel post caps. Each side of a cap is deeply carved in an acanthus leaf design. The top element is a small segmented dome sitting on a flat base piece. Each corner of the base piece has a small circular corner ball. one corner ball is missing on one of the caps) The segmented dome is capped with a matching carved ball. The quality if the acanthus leaf design has been done with very good workmanship. Each cap is approx. 7 1/2" tall and 5 3/8" square. I am not sure of the wood type. It is a heavy. Densely grained wood, that is light in color. It could possibly be a light mahogany. The wood does have a dark mahogany stain with a satin varnished finish. This auction is for one pair of solid wood. Hand carved heads. These gentlemen were originally part of a door frame from a home that was torn down in London in the 1970s. These exquisite heads are all that is left of the door frame. Each is hand carved and one of a kind as each differs in size, measuring 10 inches and 10.25 inches each. They measure 4.25 and 3 7/8 inches respectfully. The heads are four inches deep. The approximate dates presented to me from various sources range from the 17 century to the 18th century.
